SESARS:
Please someone should clear my doubts. The Msc public health offered by NOUN, is it Academic or Professional certificate? I don't want to regret later.

How many months will it take to start and finish the Msc public health assuming you're very serious with it?
Duration of the programme is a minimum period of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

2023 ELECTION: NOUN COMPLIES WITH MINISTERIAL DIRECTIVE, SHUTS ACTIVITIES

The management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has directed its staff to proceed on the 2023 election break, thereby putting on hold students' activities within the stipulated period.

This followed the receipt of a circular from the National Universities Commission (NUC) conveying the Hon. Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu's directive for all universities and inter/universities to shut down and academic activities be suspended between Wednesday, 22nd February - Thursday 14th March, 2023.

A memo signed by the Registrar of the university, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi and communicated to all staff and study centres, said "the Governing Council, Senate and Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has considered the ministerial directives, and therefore decides as follows:

"That the university in compliance with the Hon. ministers directive is closing her doors to all students."

The memo also stated that all study centers should not attend to students requests physically at the various study centers during the period of closure.

"However, all on-line activities most especially facilitation , registration and TMA’s should continue .

“All staff are permitted to be absent from work, two -day before the election and two-day after the election."

For the Presidential and National Assembly Election
Pre- election - Thursday, 23rd- Friday, 24th February, 2023
Post-election - Monday, 27th - Tuesday, 28th February , 2023, to resume work on Wednesday, 1st March 2023.

"Whilst, the Governorship and States House of Assembly election:
Pre -election - Thursday,9th - Friday, 10th March, 2023
Post election - Monday 13th- Tuesday, 14th March, 2023 to resume work on Wednesday, 15th March, 2023.

“Consequently, I therefore , write to inform all staff and students for strict compliance, please," the memo stated.

Furthermore, all Deans, Directors and Centre Directors are enjoined to adhere strictly to the directive and also give it the widest circulation among staff and students.

Meanwhile, full academic activities will resume on Wednesday, 15th March, 2023.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS ON SIWES

The following documents are to be downloaded from the platform after filling the online master list:

▪️ Form 001
▪️ Form 002 (Placement Letter)
▪️ Form 003 (Acceptance of SIWES Form)

On securing a placement for SIWES, students are expected to fill the online Placement List and download Form 004 (SIWES Job Reporting Form), Form 005 (SIWES Employers’ Evaluation Form). Then Collect the SIWES Logbook, SCAF Form and ITF Form 8 (ITF funded programmes only) from the Desk Officer at your Study Centres.

▪️Placement Letter – This is the formal letter of placement to be submitted to the employer by each intending SIWES student. This letter is used for seeking for a place of SIWES relevant to fields of studies of the students.

▪️Acceptance of SIWES Form – This is a reply to the placement letter submitted above from the employer to the Directorate of SIWES. Students must obtain a signed Acceptance of SIWES form from their employers on securing a place for the SIWES attachment.

▪️Job Reporting Form – It is to be completed by the student as he/she assumes duty. The form must be returned to the Study Centres within two weeks of the commencement of SIWES. The information on the form will assist the Directorate during the supervision visits. Failure to return this form is taken as non-participation in the programme.

▪️The SIWES Logbook– should be completed daily and signed weekly by the industry-based supervisor. This is very important. The logbook will be examined during supervision visits and be checked along with work reports on industrial work experience. You must have the logbook with you every time you are on duty.

▪️SIWES Evaluation Form - It is to be completed by the employer at the end of the SIWES programme. It must be brought back to the Desk Officer at the Study Centre under confidential cover.

Students should note that SIWES is not a vacation job. It is a compulsory programme and an integral part of academic work. Any case of indiscipline during this period will attract severe disciplinary measures. If a student has any problem with his/her place of SIWES attachment, he/she should contact the Directorate immediately.

Furthermore, there should be no change of employer unless the Directorate gives a written permission. Any change without a written permission will be regarded as non-participation in the programme.

In conclusion, I will like to assure you that the Directorate will come to your assistance whenever you are in any form of difficulty. You should feel free to send a mail or discuss with the supervisors during supervision visits. In any case of emergency, you should contact your Desk Officer or the Directorate immediately.

I wish you a successful Student's Industrial Work Experience Scheme Programme.

Prof. Sam O. Smah

Director, SIWES

SECOND BATCH 2023 GRADUATION LIST

LINK BELOW ⬇️

https://docdro.id/EQTIWwr

CONGRATS to all the graduands.

Meanwhile, More lists are still on the way.

But there are different reasons you might not find your name on the graduation list:
1. Your CGPA might be too low to become a graduate
2. You are yet to meet up the required Units
3. One or more non-examinable courses are left undone

If you are not in any of the 3 categories above then wait for the next graduation list .

My advice is to consult a NOUN professional to help run a portal analysis on the School portal to be sure what really is the issue .

Do have a nice day

DivergentSony:
Pls who has recently concluded his/her SIWES last year or very knowledgeable about SIWES?

Which form is Job Reporting Form (004) and how can I get it?

It's not on the SIWES portal, it's only placement form, acceptance & employer's evaluation form that's there.

Secondly if I start my SIWES this semester, is it possible/will they allow me defend it this semester in April according to the academic calendar? The defense is by April.
I'm a final year student.

Any form you are looking for, are on your siwes portal. Login to it and print them out. Most especially the Acceptance Siwes placement form 002 that's the form you needed to take to your "Place of attachment" first. It has to be signed, stamped and dated. Take it to your faculty officer before uploading.

grin You want to do abracadabra in completing your Siwes in 4months. Even if defense/presentation is slated tomorrow and you are yet to complete the (24weeks)~ 6months you won't be allowed to participate in the defense/presentation. Do whatever you want to do patiently, you will definitely join another set who will defend/present this year.
