Upgrading your is a simple but delicate venture as many decoders had been fried in the process. Here are simple steps
1. Ascertain that your decoder is genuine strong product and take note of the model eg 4663x is not the same as 4663x11, they use different software. Just as 4669x is different from 4669x11.
2. visit www.wicked.persiangig.com , click patch 4 africa. And locate the file for your decoder. NOTE file for 4663x will appear as 4661x _4664x mytv _ 20110121.zip
3. Download this file and unzip to get .stb file.
4. Put the stb file in a usb flash drive and insert into usb port in front of your decoder
5. Press menu >>> usb/storage >>> data transfer
6 select the file and click ok
7. The upgrade starts AND PLEASE DO NOT SWITCH OFF POWER AT THIS STAGE.
HENCE GENERATOR SET IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED OVER PHCN/PUBLIC ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IF U ARE IN NAIJA. AS POWER OUTAGE WILL DAMAGE YOUR BOX.

@ pboy2buzy, u did not tell us your location, however if u are in naija u should receive w3a.
Start by re-aligning ur ku lnb properly on the dish. u should get 95- 97% on dstv with 2.4m mesh dish. If u achieve this ur w3@ will come up

use astra 2b@28e as reference sat. And gently move yur dish upwards

@simniboma, u can edit the name of a satellite in your strong receiver. From installation>>dish settings>>press the red botton on your remote control unit(not power button), alphabetical table is displayed, then edit as desired and press Exit button to save.

@ikiriye, 60cm will nail w3c, but 80cm and above the better for signal stability

@simniboma, nice update there, but let us familiarise with these sats so that we can be more accurate in our reports. The sat is eutelsat w3c and not eurobird16, although both are at 16E. Cheers.

@ all, the srt 4930 without rj45 cable is the version for middleeast/africa while the srt4930 with rj45 is the australian version. So both are genuine strong products. Strong decided to bring the australian version to africa cos they now realise we are begining to embrace cardsharing receivers with the rj45 (ethernet) ports. No cause for alarm, if u want to buy 4930 go for the one with rj45 as there will be no need for rj45-to- r232converter cable. CHEERS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE.

@ all, with the increase in dth ku sats over naija, we have to look in the direction of motoriosing our 90cm dishes. There is a locally designed motorising neck for 90cm - 1m dishes that use jack and positioner. I will upload pic soon cos am far away from home now. Have a wonderfull week ahead
