The only reason Kibra is classified as a Slum is due to poor planning, lack of housing regulations and no drainage. Kibera itself is a low income residential area sitting on government land. It's well connected to the grid and it's residents actually rent those houses, Pay power bills & feed themselves. Keep in mind as of 2020 75% of Kenyans are connected to the national grid meaning even those in rural areas have a more stable power supply than an average Nigerian. Kibra is poor but not miserable.

we have informal and formal settlement in kibera and the other slums mentioned, even though the survey was carried out some time back, I can guarantee you that the figures that summed 1.5m was not just section of slum. Kibera is big. And if we go with the criteria they used of 5person per household. It will result to unfair result. the census process that was carried out recently suggests that kibera(slum dwellers) are barely 70,000.
