obaaderemi:Well there are lots of power project under construction with nigeria signing various deals with foreign countries to boost power in nigeria. So that sector is not abandoned it just that our previous leaders never gave it a second taught. I follow the latest power project from tv news.. Open this link and see the effort that are being made in that section https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.power-nigeria.com%2Fen%2Findustry-news.html&geid=NSTN&hl=en-US |
donkizzydaboss:Damn bro you were so harsh...but I guess you had to say the truth |
tylann:Definitely. We are tired of having lagos so populated. Lagos state govt is working with ogun state govt (a neighbouring state ) to develop it and build it CBD so that it can share it population with it. Lagos govt are building roads and dragging investors to these neighbouring state so it can be urbanised fast. So many lagos ins now go there to buy land and build because land is cheap and the state is promising |
China is building a $12 metro rail that would connect this coty to the former city... no segregation ..This project should be enough for its inhabitance with a population of 370,000
|
So many city project under construction in Nigeria. ..our future is bright. This one is mainly for the masses(industrialization and manufacturing ) and tourism
|
Tylann this are one of those industrial city project with lot of skyscrappers and of European building that I was telling you about sometime ago. This is going to be in calabar News | Nigeria | National Work begins on $1 billion Cross River ‘Virgin’ city By Tina Todo, Calabar | Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has initiated work on the $1billion ‘Virgin’ city in Calabar. The project, which would be cited in Etap Ayip Kasuk, in Calabar municipality, is in partnership with a Chinese firm, Mark Sino Construction Company Limited. Performing the groundbreaking, Ayade said: “This project arose from the potentials of the deep seaport because, as the construction on the seaport starts by January 15, with 35, 000 workers at its peak, we need to provide accommodation and recreational facilities for them.” The governor, who expressed confidence on the pedigree of the company to deliver said: “I have been to Jilin province, which is a fantastic place with very wide roads and well-built areas that make it far more civilized than America. Advertisement Advertisement “I think we have a great opportunity to use my exposure and contacts to seek an alternative to the continuous dependence on federal allocation.”He canvassed going out of the scope to attract investors and people who would understand the philosophy because the ultimate aim of politics is to serve your fatherland. The governor expressed the hope that the project would give the host community a sense of belonging through job creation. On recruitment of labour, he said emphasis would also be given to the host community. He said the place would be given a priority in the recruitment of workers, because “we don’t want to build an estate, which the community itself cannot afford to live in.” Ayade added that some indigenes, whose income would improve as a result of the construction, might be able to buy property in the city.“Let it not be that we took the land because it belongs to government, invest on it and leave the host community too low, when compared to the accompanying development,” he said.He commended the investors for choosing the state for their investments. He said: “You have made choice of the right state, the right city and the right approval, as this is going to be the fastest growing city with industries, factories, manufacturing plants and recreational centres. Of course, there is no where that would grow as fast as this community.” The Chairman of the company, Wei Hengshan, who spoke through an interpreter, promised that the company would work according to specification to positively transform the lives of the citizenry. Also, the Clan Head of Kasuk 2 Qua, Ntoe Ededem Iyito, commended Ayade for his developmental projects across the state, and promise the community’s support for the project. According to the commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, John Inyang, and his counterpart in New Cities, George Ekpungu, the ‘virgin’ city would be a tourist centre and an estate with European and African concept. Here is the first one in uyo
|
Hello guys check this out. Uyo wants to become a city like lagos and abuja by all means. You need to see the kind of roads in that city , I could even say they are better than the ones in lagos. There are building their CBD and the pic below is the second skyscrapper under construction. The governor said that once this building is completed so many foreign companies and local ones would flood these new city .The buildings is a smart building and it absence has chased alot of investors away. No wonder the governor built 12 lane roads for them and is currently building an industrial city (it would equally house skyscrappers ) and so many hospitals. He even built a dubai like cineplex for them and want to build a light rail like lagos. It just recently bought 2 aircraft without the FG assistance and it is building it international airport. The governor believes that lagos is what it is today because of it port and he is building a deep sea port that is 2x bigger than what lagos have currently. . These is it second skyscrapper (21 storey)under construction

tylann:Yes. Entertainment is one sector alone that pulls visitors from corners of the earth down here to Nigeria. Last year alot of events took place in nigeria that attracted alot of vistirs. Let me mention a few Africa magic viewers choice award (amvca) in lagos Lagos fashion week GT fashion week (powered by GT bank) in lagos Lagos boat regatta Spice lifestyle honours in lagos Lagos street carnival Lagos marathon Arise fashion week Movie festivals Calabar carnivals and so many ..lets me start with calabar carnivals. This events attractted millions of visitors from south America (mostly Brazilians) ,african, north America and Europe. They stayed for a period of 31 days (1 months) battling and waiting for the final winner. I think brazil came first with south africa coming second place (I am not so sure) Africa magic viewers choice award (Amvca) This event is like africa's Oscars award, let me suffice it to say that it is the biggest movie award platform on the continent and it has taken place consecutively for seven years in lagos. Nigeria has always won the best movie of the year but last kenyans surprised us and stole that tittle from us with their debut movie tittle 17 hours. Wangiri boss won so many awards. This was largely due to the fact that the movies released in 2017 which was use as nominations in 2018 was not so good (I am talking nigeria) compared to our previous master piece. Culture Our culture is so rich and diverse that the whole world wants to get a glimpse of it. .if you remember in black panther there was these artifacts at the british museum from the benin tribe that was used. Do you know I recently found out that they study about that particular tribe in HARVARD UNIVERSITY. It was regarded as the most civillized tribe in the whole of sub saharan africa as a result of it architectural advancement during the pre colonial era dubbed as THE GREAT WALL OF BENIN.. it was been taught by white harvard professors. The president of France visited nigeria last year and met with president buhari in abuja to discuss trade deals. And after the meeting he requested that he wants to go to lagos and visit the afrika shrine dedicated to LATE FELA ANIKULA KUTI. He was entetrained by is son FEMI KUTI and after this he announced that he would be hosting a carnival for nigeria culture in the streets of Paris in 2020 . He also said the last time he was at lagos was in 2001 when he came for his IT . All this is to highlight how we were able to attract visitors and emerge at the top. Nigeria has alot of tourism potentials likes that can hardly be seen anywhere in the he world e.g hanging lakes, caves , warm lakes and so many .it is just sad that our govt just realised the importance of these thing lately. As for wildlife I was shocked when I discovered that we have lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes. I was like is these not a south africa and Kenyan thing cause an average Nigerian don't know we possess such. Like my brother said we would be privatising some of our national parks these year let's see if that sector can kick off |
theenchanter:True. I once told one them that our Gdp will trend around $690 in 2020 and an idiot named bifoli said I was an illiterate but when I showed him stuffs from tradingeconomics that attested to my claim, the idiot became mute. Kenyans think that they can easily overtake other african countries by mere wishing it. I would rejoice with them if by the end of these year they overtake angola. They seem to forget so quickly that oil price can increase any moment even now ad we speak and these will favour angola and some many oil dependent nation( like northern africa) |
DUMSOR! DUMSOR!! DUMSOR!!! Pls ghanians is it that serious ![]() Expect more blackouts – Energy Institute DUMSOR BLACKOUT Blackout in Accra ADVERTISEMENT An expert from the Institute of Energy Security (IES) has urged Ghanaians to embrace themselves up for more power outages. The Executive Director of the IES, Paa Kwesi Anamoah Sakyi, has said the Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS), the new company which has taken over from the Electricity Company of Ghana, may have failed already. Mr Sakyi has accused the PDS of not being truthful to Ghanaians in the wake of renewed energy crisis. “It is obvious that we are back where we were before and for that matter I want to urge the new power distribution outfit to come out and make it clear to us else we should brace ourselves up for more power outages,” he said on Accra-based radio station, Neat FM as monitored by Adomonline.com. Power outages have surged in recent times with with many parts of the country experiencing unsual blackouts for the second week running. The PDS has attributed the blackouts to problems experienced at the Bulk Supply Points but the regularity with which the outages are happening have caused many to doubt their explanations. ADVERTISEMENT A statement by the outfit said GRIDCO, the system controller, was investigating the problem which has resulted in a shutdown of bulk supply points at Mallam, Graphic among others around 7:20 pm today [Wednesday]. The affected areas include Madina, Koforidua, Achimota, Kasoa, North Kaneshie, Cape Coast and other areas. The system imbalances have caused major power outages in a lot of communities with the system voltage at some sectors monitored reducing to 26KV. But Mr Anamoah Sakyi has called on government and the power distributor, to declare “dumsor – or scheduled load shedding – and publish a corresponding timetable to regulate the process. |
vaxx2:Sure we will all wait and see. First of all have you heard about osinbanjo working with NDIC and CBN to support the N_power and trademoni program which is aimed at reducing poverty significantly |
vaxx2:Every news media is nigeria is carrying this news .some even updated theirs few minutes ago... We are getting .something you dubbed as impossible is actually a reality. Nigeria is surely getting there |
Vaxx we have done it...no more of your constant shenanigans with the Kenyans. ..I am so happy for nigerian workers..I deeply celebrate with them NEWS N30,000 minimum wage implementation begins today —Presidency Published Implementation of the N30, 000 minimum wage just signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari takes effect from Thursday, April 18, a presidential aide, Mr. Ita Enang, has announced. Enang, who is Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, told State House correspondents on Thursday in Abuja that the Minimum Wage Repel and Enactment Act, 2019 has replaced the existing one. According to him, the bill now makes it mandatory for employers of labour in both public and private organisations to pay N30,000 as minimum wage. “You can see me smiling on behalf of Nigerian workers. President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the Minimum Wage Repel and Enactment Act, 2019. “This makes it compulsory for all employers of labour in Nigeria to pay to their workers the sum of N30,000. “This excludes persons who are employing less than 25 workers, persons who work in a ship which sails out of jurisdiction and other persons who are in other kinds of regulated employment which are accepted by the Act. “It also gives workers the right if you are compelled by any circumstance to accept salary that is less than N30,000 to sue your employer to recover the balance. It also authorises the minister of labour and any person nominated by the minister or any person designated by the minister of labour in any ministry, department or agency to, on your behalf, take action in your name against such employer to recover the balance of your wages. According to the presidential aide, the bill ensures and mandates the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission and the minister or labour to be the chief and principal enforcers of the provisions of this law. “This law applies to all agencies, persons and bodies throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Enang enjoined Nigerian workers to continue to support the president and his administration’s policies in return for the gesture. “Mr President will celebrate with workers and the Federal Government will celebrate. This is Mr. President showing workers the love he has for them and we will match with the Nigerian workers.” Asked if it the new minimum wage covers the National Youth Service Corps, Enang said, “It covers all persons covered by the Act.” DOWNLOAD THE PUNCH NEWS |

vaxx2:I don't know why you are still arguing this.it simple world tourism and travel council are recognised body globally (WTTC) and has always ranked this things for years and developed world has always accepted. I gave you a second post that supports tylann post but you are still arguing. We are more of a tourism hot bed than ghana and the whole accept it.must everything be a competition to you News: Kenya trails South Africa and Nigeria as the 3rd Largest Tourism Economy in Africa-WTTC Friday Nwosu 2 weeks ago The World Tourism & Travel Council (WTTC) has awarded Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary, Mr Najib Balala as the 2019 Global Champion Award for Social Impact. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday in Seville, Spain during the WTTC Global Summit. Kenya’s First lady, Margaret Kenyatta was among dignitaries who attended the event. A statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife expressed its delight at the award. ‘The annual WTTC Global Champion Awards recognise public officials or countries who, through their leadership, have made a difference through unique public policies and initiatives that have increased the competitiveness of the sector within their countries,” the statement said. The WTTC Global Champion Award for Social Impact recognises leadership in enabling gender equality and diversity; engaging local communities and making the sector more attractive for future generations. CS Balala was in 2017 re-appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Tourism & Wildlife by President Uhuru Kenyatta. This was the third time he was being entrusted with the tourism docket, due to his vast knowledge and experience in this field; plus, added the responsibility of taking care of Kenya’s national heritage of wildlife. CS Balala is currently the longest-serving Minister in the Kenyan Cabinet, with thirteen (13) of experience as a Minister serving in different portfolios – eight ( of which in the Tourism sector. The Kenya Coast Tourism Working Group chairman, Mr Hosnain Noorani who is also the Group Managing Director for Pride Inn Group of Hotels commended Balala’s latest recognition and termed it as a plus for Kenyan tourism. ”While we commend CS Balala for the historic achievement, we remain optimistic that Kenyan tourism is on the road to full recovery,” he said. Also saluting Balala’s acknowledgement by WTTC was Managing Director of the award-winning Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa, Mr Bobby Kamani who said that the recognition by WTTC on CS Balala marked a big milestone in Kenya’s tourism industry. ”Balala has been instrumental in leading Kenyan tourism out of the woods after years of underperforming,” Kamani said. Industry analysts said that Balala has played a significant role in boosting growth and stability in the Kenyan and regional tourism sector, working closely with private and institutional investors, with conservation and regional development agencies to ensure that the economic potential of this vital sector was both prudently and sustainably-managed. This was best exemplified by the recording-setting tourism performance in 2018 of over 2 million international arrivals, which was endorsed by President & CEO of WTTC, Ms. Gloria Guevara in Nairobi, where she symbolically released the WTTC Economic Impact Research 2019 for Africa recently. In 2018, Travel & Tourism grew 5.6% to contribute KSHS 790 billion and 1.1 million jobs to the Kenyan economy. This rate of growth is faster than the global average of 3.9% and the Sub-Saharan Africa average of 3.3%. This makes Kenya the third largest tourism economy in Sub-Saharan Africa after South Africa and Nigeria, both of which grew substantially less than Kenya in 2018. In total, international tourists spent over Sh157 billion in Kenya last year, accounting for over 15% of total exports. The largest inbound international markets were the USA (11%); UK (9%); India (6%); China (4%); and Germany (4%). Combined with domestic spending, Travel & Tourism supported 8.8% of the nation’s GDP in 2018. ”CS Balala is focused on improving and modernizing Kenya’s wildlife conservation sector, under the banner KENYANS FOR WILDFLIFE & WILDLIFE FOR KENYANS, since it has a direct impact on the tourism sector – of which 70% is wildlife-based,” added the statement. Thus, wildlife is key to the success of our tourism sector. Upon receiving the award, Balala said, “This award is not only a win for the Ministry, tourism and wildlife sectors but is also an endorsement of Magical Kenya’s efforts to make tourism, wildlife sustainable and ensure that both directly benefits our local communities, who are the custodians and stewards of both our tourism and wildlife resources.” Gloria Guevara, President & CEO, WTTC commented, “Travel & Tourism is a sector which is proven to drive economic growth, create jobs and boost social inclusion. ”I am delighted to recognise the work of Cabinet Secretary for Tourism & Wildlife from the Government of Kenya, Hon. Najib Balala, in promoting community-based tourism as a way of allowing local people to more effectively engage with tourism issues; and promoting youth activities in wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship, ”Gloria said. jaycent:Abuja is beautiful no doubt .how I wish we didn't meet the 2016 recession that would have made it even more beautiful. Those two tall building are called the WORLD TRADE TOWER which was suppose to comprise of 8 towers but was slowed down due to the economic recession. Abuja city centre project which is going to house 15 magnificent tower was equally hindered by the recession but hope seems to be coming our way as the govt want to commence work fully on it. World trade zone should have been completed with the abuja city centre project progressing speedily if not for that reckless recession. |
