I'll agree with you on the poverty levels in the Northern parts of the country,the pastoral communities are normally hit hard when severe drought sets it.It's the onus of the government to ensure that all it's people are stress free,it's true to say that the Northern countries have been marginalized for so long but then again this drought won't give Tanzania any leverage over Kenya!

Its not only humans and livestock that have been affected,also wild animals are bearing the brunt of the devastating drought with cases of elephants being pulled out of the partly dried mud with tractors.The government's short term fixes like relief food would surely help but more long term measures should be put in place to mitigate the drought. With Kenya being largely arid and semi arid,we should be taking things seriously by responding to drought warnings quickly! Someone at the top surely needs to be sacked!

Egypt with far less arable soil and climate had been producing rice that is not her major staple food for consumption and exportation in high quantity compare while Nigeria that has bigger and better climate condition. yet you don't see it is illogical.

whilst nigeria with a larger land mass and able workforce will be adding an additional 2 million tonnes to make 6 million tones in 2019...which will still put nigeria as the largest rice producer in Africa. ...
