Rap in Nigeria has come a long way from the days where no one even thought about giving it a chance, much less becoming a relevant genre in the Nigerian Music Industry.

Today, Rap/hiphop is now becoming a mainstream genre accepted among the people in Nigeria. There is now evidence that a good rapper who raps in English or his/her local dialect (or both) can be successful in the Nigerian Music industry, which wasn’t the case years ago.

According to popular music site ‘ notjustok.com’ meet the 10 most gifted rappers of 2014.

1. Phyno: Azubuike Chibuzo Nelson known by his stage name Phyno, is a rapper and record producer. He is known for rapping in the Igbo language.

2. Olamide: Olamide Adedeji, known by his stage name Olamide, is a hip hop recording artist. He records mostly in Yoruba, his native tongue.

3. Reminisce: Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, known by his stage name Reminisce aka ALAGA IBILE is a singer, rapper, and song writer. He is one artist to find a balance rapping both in English and Yoruba.

4. Mojeed: Aristokrat Records rapper Mojeed is popularly known for his hit song “Jagaban” a single off his critically acclaimed mixtape.

5. Modenine: Babatunde Olusegun better known as Mode 9 (Modenine) is a rapper and hip-hop artiste.

6. Jesse Jagz: Jesse Garba Abaga, better known as Jesse Jagz, is a hip-hop artist, rapper, singer, producer and songwriter.

7. Ice Prince: Panshak Zamani, better known by his stage name Ice Prince, is a rapper, hip-hop recording artist and actor.

8. iLLBLiSS: Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, popularly known by his stage name Illbliss is a hip-hop recording artist, stage performer, business man and owner of the managing outfit The Gorretii Company.

9. Falz: Folarin Falana, is a rapper and also the son of renowned lawyer, Femi Falana. He is also known as Falz the Bahd Guy. He runs a self-owned independent record label, Bahd Guys Records.

10. Yung6ix: Onome Onokohwomo, better known by his stage name Yung6ix, is a rapper and hip-hop recording artist.

Nigerian millionaire singer songwriter and MTV award winner, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (D’Banj) has denied the reports recently stating that he is in debt.

The multiple award winner went online to state his denial.

He tweeted: ‘Silence. Here is my response to the false rumors’, linking the newly released music video of Oritsefemi’s Double Wahala Part 2.

News had surfaced that the Koko master is in debt to some people, who have launched a legal action against him.

D’banj is the Second Nigerian act to win the MTV Europe music awards, he began his career with Don Jazzy in 2004 with hit song taking over the Nigerian airways.
He has gone on and had three succesful albums and has dated Genevieve Nnaji

What do you expect from a DSS spokesperson who.does not know left from right, telling us they found Computers, CPUs, Hard disks in a DATA CENTRE. WHAT ELSE was she thinking she will find there? Television and shoes?

Why do we have daft people as leaders in the hellhole of Nigeria? Can one imagine the FBI or Scotland yard reeling out this list as exhibits of items it recovered from a raid. Imagine an "apple mac without CPU" why is Nigeria so unfortunate to be led by idiots and stupid people like this empty head.

My father started with this alcohol of a thin yet he gave birth to 4 healthy sons my eldest took over and now i'm d 3rd and also gave birth to a healthy baby boy (so alcohol in my own case is nothin). But if u no strong no take am oo! All these fruits/foods is what have been eating as my best and never knew they were of very important to my sperm. #still_sipping_Alomo Bitters_now

Right before the outbreak of evd in Nigeria, it has been advised to wash hands always, u shake hands with people on a daily basis, u exchange naira notes on a daily basis, u never can tell someone carrying any dirts/germs.

So i wash my hands and i still have my hand sanitizer in case water and soap not available.

i jst hope we all can emulate this step

I'm just curious to ask this question if nairalanders (Nigerians) still wash there hands with soap and water even though we don't have any case of EVD in the country again. I knw that hand washing with sanitizers isn't so common among we Nigerians but yet we managed to do so during d period of EVD or is the spirit of hand washing gone with EVD?

Flavour is good for it. His music dey sweet. And the news is kinda misleading. The one million copies sold doesn't necessarily mean 1 million individuals have bought the album. 1 distributor could have bought 200k copies, spread among 5 major distributors and 1million is gone. So... the story can be very true
