President Muhammadu Buhari has come under heavy criticism by foreign press for allegedly appointing corrupt people in his cabinet. In its latest article, DailyMail UK , a British online media platform has called out the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi describing him as 'Nigeria's ATM'. According to the report, Amaechi is accused of misappropriating £338million by a commission investigating the sale of state assets. Amaechi is accused of diverting £140million of state funds into Buhari’s presidential campaign, with reports he paid for media, consultants and private jets. Here is the full report titled "Is Nigerian leader's pal 'fantastically corrupt'? Friend of African president accused of stealing £500million". "When David Cameron was caught on camera last week before an anti-corruption summit describing Nigeria as ‘fantastically corrupt’, the African state’s president rallied to the Prime Minister’s defence by agreeing with him. But although Muhammadu Buhari is seen by some as leading the battle against corruption, worrying allegations swirl around one of his close allies. Rotimi Amaechi, who travelled with the president to the summit, is Nigeria’s transport minister and is said to have bankrolled Buhari’s presidential campaign. In the Nigerian press he has been dubbed ‘ATM’ – the American term for cash machine – because of his ability to produce vast sums of money at short notice. He remains in his post despite being accused of misappropriating £338million by a commission investigating the sale of state assets. Some of that money is likely to have come from UK taxpayers, who gave the country £1billion in aid over five years to 2014, including £248million in 2014 alone. Separately, Amaechi is accused of diverting £140million of state funds into Buhari’s presidential campaign, with reports he paid for media, consultants and private jets. The allegations come as the president stands accused of enjoying a lavish lifestyle while many millions suffer in poverty. A leaked draft budget for 2016 showed the Nigerian government earmarked £16million for the refurbishment and maintenance of the president’s official residence, Aso Rock Guest House, in the capital Abuja. There was also a request for £13million for building a VIP wing at a hospital used by families of the president and his ministerial team. Mr Amaechi has denied the allegations against him." http://www.tori.ng/news/30239/you-have-a-fantastically-corrupt-minister-in-your.html |

Former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has
been remanded in Kuje prion by a Federal High
Court over his involvement in the controversial
immigration recruitment scam.
Abba Moro, who is the immediate past Minister
of Interior, was on Monday remanded in Kuje
Prison by Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal
High Court in Abuja over his alleged complicity in
a N676m immigration recruitment scam. Also
remanded in prison custody was a Deputy
Director in the ministry, Mr. F. O Alayebami.
The court took this decision after he pleaded not
guilty to an 11-count criminal charge that was
preferred against him by the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Justice Chikere, however, granted administrative
bail to the 2nd defendant, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel-
Nwobia, who was a former Permanent Secretary
at the Ministry of Interior when the alleged fraud
was committed.
Mrs. Daniel-Nwobia who is nursing a baby
persuaded the court, through her lawyer, Chief
Chris Uche, SAN, to allow her to go home to take
care of her baby.
The EFCC earlier told the court that one of the
accused persons, Mahmood Ahmadu, who was a
Director at Drexel Tech Nigeria Ltd, a firm that
was allegedly used to perpetuate the botched
March 15, 2014 Immigration recruitment exercise
that killed no fewer than 20 job seekers across
the country, is currently at large. The charge
against the accused persons borders on
obtaining by false pretence, procurement fraud
and money laundering.
The anti-graft agency categorically alleged that
the defendants defrauded 676,675 Nigerian
applicants of N676,675,000 (Six Hundred and
Seventy Six Million, Six Hundred and Seventy
Five Thousand Naira) as each of the 676,675
applicants were charged N1,000 each for
participating in the ill-fated Immigration
recruitment exercise.
The defendants were also alleged to have flouted
the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007 in
the award of the contract for the organisation of
the recruitment test to Drexel Tech Nigeria Ltd.
The EFCC stated that its investigations revealed
that the firm which it said was not validly
registered to operate in Nigeria, never bided for
the contract, adding that the contract was
awarded through selective tendering procedure
by invitation of 4 (Four) firms without seeking
the approval of the Bureau for Public
Procurement, contrary to sections 40, 42 and 43
of the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007
and punishable under section 58 of the same act.
Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned by
Justice Chikere till next week Wednesday to
consider whether or not the ex-Minister and his
alleged accomplice should be released on bail
pending their trial.

John Obi Mikel enjoyed a first half to forget and then remember again in Chelsea's Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain. In a tumultuous seven minutes of the match at Parc des Princes, the Nigeria international was booked for a foul outside the box and then deflected the resulting free kick past Thibaut Courtois for PSG's opening goal. However, on the stroke of half-time, the 28- year-old went from villain to hero when a corner dropped well for him and he was able to poke past Kevin Trapp to secure the equaliser for Guus Hiddink's men. Social media went into meltdown in praise of the midfielder and not for the first time this season - 'Mikel Mania' swept the internet just a few months ago during his dominant display against Crystal Palace. And again, he has won the hearts of millions across the continent with his latest exploits. John Obi Mikel's half. Booked. Gave a free kick. Deflected in a goal. Then scores an away goal. Barely one week after saying National Assembly members are corrupt, former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday in Ibadan, Oyo State, bombed all governors. He said the governors live like emperiors, and rendered public institutions useless and irrelevant Obasanjo dropped the bombedshell at the inaugural conference of Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy (ISGPP) entitled: “Getting government to work for development and democracy in Nigeria: Agenda for change,’ held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. It is on record that many governors have refused to conduct local government election since they assumed office and they operate joint accounts with the council such that paltry allocations usually get to them. According to Obasanjo, who chaired the conference, “these days, Nigeria is a country where some governors have become sole administrators, acting like emperors. These governors have rendered public institutions irrelevant and useless. “Is there development work going on in the 774 constitutionally recognised local government councils, which have been merely appropriated as private estate of some governors. The governors have hijacked the resources of the local governments and this has crippled the development of the local government councils in the country,” he said. Obasanjo also reiterated his call to the National Assembly to make its budget open to public scrutiny to ensure transparency and probity. He also noted that the drastic fall in oil prices in the international market has unravelled the weakness of governance in Nigeria as announced recently by Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, “The 2016 budget deficit may be increased from the current N2.2 trillion in the draft document before the National Assembly to N3 trillion due to decline in the price of crude oil. If the current fiscal challenge is not creatively addressed, Nigeria may be on its way to another episode of debt overhang, which may not be good for the country,” he quoted the minister as saying. “Recall that a few years ago, we rescued Nigeria from its creditors with the deal in which the Paris Club of sovereign creditors wrote off USD 18 billions of debt, Africa’s largest debt cancellation. Nigeria then used the windfall earnings from oil export to pay off another USD 12 billion in debts and arrears,” Obasanjo noted. source: www.sunnewsonline.com/new/obasanjo-bombs-govs/ |

An analysis of this narration revealed, former
military ruler and democrat, Olusegun Aremu
Obasanjo planned a mole in his opponent's camp
in order to exposure them.
From Obasanjo’s account, it would seem that his
relationship with Atiku began on a sour note:
“By the Constitution, I had to inaugurate or
prorogue the National Assembly on June 4, 1999.
The most important officer in the National
Assembly is the senate president and that office
had been zoned to the South-east. And here was
where Atiku Abubakar, my vice-president, first
showed his hand and his character.
“Without seeking my view or approval, he started
planning the installation of Chuba Okadigbo as
the senate president. I did a background check
on Chuba including his past as a student and
made enquiries about him in the National Party
of Nigeria (NPN) under (President Shehu)
Shagari and no one would recommend him for
the post of senate president.
“I left Atiku to go on his chase while I carried
out a meticulous and detailed investigation and
background check on each senator from the
South-east. The one that appeared most
appointable was Evan Enwerem. I canvassed the
senate across the board for his election and he
was elected. Atiku did not expect it and he felt
sore.
“He began to strategize for Enwerem to be
removed and Chuba Okadigbo to be installed.
His strategy worked because I was at Abuja
airport to receive a visiting head of state when
the news reached me that the Senate had
impeached Enwerem and elected Okadigbo. I was
not perturbed. I came to understand from some
senators including Florence Ita-Giwa, who later
became my Special Adviser/ Liaison Officer to
the National Assembly, that Atiku distributed US
$5,000 each to some senators to carry out the
‘coup’.
“That was the beginning of bribing the legislature
to carry out a particular line of action to suit or
satisfy the purpose or desire of an individual or a
group. The National Assembly had tasted blood
and they would continue to want more. From the
day I nominated Atiku to be my vice, he set his
mind not for any good, benefit or service of the
country, but on furiously planning to upstage,
supplant or remove me at all cost and to take
my place.
“That was what I brought him for, but he was
impatient and over-ambitious. He was not ready
to learn and to wait. His marabout, who
predicted that despite being elected as governor,
he would not be sworn in as a governor, which
happened, also assured him that he would take
over from me in a matter of months rather than
years.
“All his plans, appointments of people and his
actions were towards the actualisation of his
marabout’s prediction. Once I realised his
intention and programme, I watched him like a
hawk without giving any indication of what I
knew and letting down my guard. I could not
succumb to the distraction, diversion and
malevolence of an ambitious but unwise deputy.
“The work in hand was more important than a
confrontational relationship with my deputy, a
man over whom I knew I had far more experience
and outreach in all matters. To alert him of what
I knew he was up to, would only lead to lying,
denial, more mischievous plans and more
duplicity on his part.
“He was better managed that way. What was
important was not allowing myself to be
surprised or outmanoeuvred by him. I must
always seize the initiative and know what was
going on if not in his mind, but at least in his
camp. That I did very effectively.
“Sometime in the fourth quarter of 2004, an
associate of Atiku came to my residence at the
Aso Villa from Atiku’s official residence. He felt
uncomfortable and I tried to make him feel at
ease. Then, he settled to tell me the story of
what had just transpired in Atiku’s residence. I
listened with rapt attention.
“He went on to say that Atiku told him that for
him to become the President of Nigeria, the 2007
elections were only a formality.
“The seven ingredients he needed for his
enthronement were already in his hands. He
controlled the National Assembly because both
the President of the Senate and the Speaker of
the House of Representatives were in his pocket.
He controlled twenty-eight out of thirty-six
governors. He had control of the media. His
influence over the judiciary was overwhelming.
“What he needed was foreign endorsement and
for that he had employed two lobby groups in
the US and one in the UK. And finally, the money
for the elections was in his purse.
“When the man finished, I thanked him without
passing any comment. The man was surprised
at my reaction and asked, ‘You have nothing to
say to these?’ I said that I had nothing to say
and I immediately called my ADC, Chris Jemitola,
to play a game of squash with me.
“On our way to the squash court with my ADC, I
said, ‘People at times make plans and leave God
out of their plans.’ My casual remark struck
Chris and he said, ‘Sir, that was a profound
statement.’ I said that I made the statement
because of what I had just heard of Atiku’s plan.
I was not convinced he had put God in his plans.
“Atiku was confident and God was laughing.
Most of Atiku’s ingredients soon started to fall
out of place one by one. The first was the party,
PDP.
“He thought I was powerless and had no clue
about the execution of his plan with his group;
part of his attack on me was for national
chairman of the party to give the first salvo, then
other things would follow as his grip on the
party would be firm and consolidated.
“That salvo came in the form of a letter to me
from the chairman of the party, Audu Ogbeh, who
had fully defected with (Iyorchia) Ayu to Atiku.
“The letter, which was not the product of any
issue or matter discussed with or at any party
meeting, came suddenly. When I received it, I
could read the sinister intention behind it.
“I spent that night writing my reply and I sent it
in the morning. My reply was clear. I wondered
why Atiku and his group did not realise that with
my reply, the battle line was clear or maybe they
thought that the seven ingredients would remain
intact to the end.
“My assistants had moles within the Atiku group.
Anything that they planned would be reported.
That was the case after Ogbeh’s letter. They
decided that Ogbeh should appear remorseful
and come with the National Working Committee
to apologise to me. It was not from their hearts,
but to lure me to a ‘killing ground’.
“All pieces of information that were reported
were verified because it would not come from
only one informant.
“Timely information is a very important principle
of war and also of politics. In politics, just as in
war, what matters is not just your plan, but
knowledge of your opponent’s plan. Knowing
their plan, I had the choice of playing along with
them or being firm, I chose the latter.
“I told Ogbeh that my relationship with him as
national chairman and me as national leader of
the party was based on mutual confidence and
trust. But with his letter, my reply and what I
knew of him then, I could no longer work with
him in confidence and trust.
“There were only two choices left for both of us
in our best interest and that of the party – he,
leaves as chairman or I leave as leader of the
party.
“The following Sunday, I called at his house,
which I had done on several occasions in the
past when there was an important party matter
to discuss. This time, I asked him to give me an
undated letter of resignation as the national
chairman.
“I waited, he gave me but it was wrongly
addressed to me rather than to the national
secretary of the party as stipulated in the party’s
constitution.
“Ogbeh reported to his group and it was decided
by them to play on and to wait for my disgrace
whenever I presented a letter of resignation not
addressed to the national secretary.
“The informants did their job and I, once again,
paid another visit to Ogbeh at his residence. He
entertained me to a meal and drink, and changed
the addressee on his letter of resignation.
“It would appear he never reported the change to
his group. When I considered it opportune and
appropriate, the letter was dated and presented
to National Executive Committee of the party,
which regrettably accepted the resignation.
“With that, whatever control Atiku claimed to
have over the party began to crumble. But he did
not think so and went on to boast that if I made
my daughter the national chairman, it would be a
matter of weeks not months before he would put
her in his pocket.
“I therefore had to look for a successor
chairman, who would be too big,
uncompromising and inflexible to be lured and
controlled by Atiku. I found such a man in
Senator (Dr.) Amadu Ali, whom I had known
many years earlier as a medical doctor in the
army. |

The judgment was delivered on Tuesday by the Justice Mohammed Aliyu Mayaki-led election Petition Tribunal, amidst tight security around the premises of the sitting. The petition was filed by the Accord Party governorship flag bearer, Senator Rashidi Ladoja. Justice Mayaki in his ruling submitted that the petitioner failed to link the evidences before the Tribunal to specific portions of the petition. He declared that the petitioner lacked the ability to prove evidence before the Tribunal. According to him, all the witnesses invited by the petitioner presented contradictory evidence before the Tribunal. Meanwhile, various forms if celebrations have started across the state but the security agents are still on ground in strategic places to avoid any breakdown of law and order. Security had been beefed up in areas surrounding the premises of the Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan, the state capital, where the proceedings would take place. Security officials led by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyebade, cordoned off all access roads to the court, while traffic control efforts were doubled due to the diversions. Shops around the courts were also closed down, while everyone entering the court premises including lawyers were thoroughly searched. www.channelstv.com/2015/10/27/tribunal-upholds-ajimobis-election-as-governor-of-oyo-state/ |

By now the Niger delta skies ought to be filled with helicopters and bomber Jets from the Nigerian airforce so they can do reconnaissance and possibly eves drop on the militants by monitoring their communications. These ragtag militants from the 5% region should not be allowed to hold the country to ransom. Buhari should give a shoot at sight order to the military so the avengers can pee in their pants. if not for the innocent people living in the Niger delta, I would have recommended a total leveling of the region if necessary. We the SW and core North are the only region not disturbing the peace of Nigeria. The 5% people are just a pain in our asses. An example is this fat pig who has found his voice back after Buhari's reluctancy to use force to wipe out the vagabonds
