So sad they have to pay with their lives |
A video purporting to show the executions of two alleged spies has been released by terror group, Boko Haram. In the video, released on Monday, one of the men is made to make a full confession, explaining his ‘crimes’ to the camera, before the pair were beheaded and their bodies shown to the camera. The gruesome execution video echoes those posted by Islamic State and is the second released by Boko Haram. The video, called ‘Harvest of Spies’, was posted Monday on Twitter by Boko Haram, the SITE intelligence group said on Monday. It starts by showing a man kneeling in the foreground with a group of Boko Haram fighters approaching him, holding a flag used by militant Islamist groups. In a theatrical display previously seen in the execution videos released by ISIS, the men line up behind the victim. The video then cuts to show two men, identified as Dawoud Muhammad and Muhammad Awlu, led by Boko Haram fighters before being made to kneel. One Boko Haram fighter, whose face has been blurred by the militant group, stands behind Dawoud Muhammad, holding a large knife. Muhammad tells the camera that he is a farmer from Baga, in Borno State, and is then made to answer a series of questions at knifepoint. Muhammad revealed that hat he had been approached by a police officer who offered him money in exchange for infiltrating Boko Haram. ‘We went to see a man from Mijka and a police officer that was with him. The officer gave me 5,000 Naira (£16.20),’ Muhammad tells the camera. The victim is made to confess that their mission has been to spy on the “residents who live here” that is Boko Haram, and in exchange for spying, the police officers had promised him that he would “become rich and will never go back to be a farmer again.” http://www.punchng.com/news/boko-haram-beheads-two-in-new-video/ |
U failed and u still wan't an improoved contract |
Technical Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Felix Anyansi-Agwu has criticised Stephen Keshi for saying a new deal offered him by the football authority amounted to a “slave contract”. The 52 year old Keshi reportedly made the remarks after receiving his new contract following an eight month wait. A debate had raged in Nigeria over whether Keshi should be given a new deal, despite new offer to the NFF and stop embarrassing the country or his potential employers in the media. Keshi “The act of taking contractual matters to the media doesn’t show maturity and discipline from [Stephen] Keshi,” Anyansi-Agwu told BBC Sport. “Contracts are not signed on the pages of newspapers and his objections or concerns should be addressed to the federation and not to outsiders. “Why insult your potential employers in the media if you plan to work with them. He should stop embarrassing and insulting the country in public, it’s the reason he has a lawyer who could speak to us.” Keshi took over in November 2011 and his initial contract with the NFF ran out after last year’s World Cup in Brazil, where Nigeria reached the second round stage. As caretaker coach he endured a turbulent 2014, in which he was sacked by the NFF and only reinstalled after intervention from Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan. BBC Sport understands that Keshi has now been offered a two-year contract effective from 1 March 2015 with him having to meet several targets. He is also required to sign a code of conduct, or else the deal is off. His latest outburst has led to Anyansi-Agwu urging him to ‘walk away’ if he is not happy to share his concerns directly with the NFF. “The whole thing should not have been blown out of proportion. It’s the NFF employing Keshi and not the other way round, so if he’s not happy he can simply ‘walk away’. “The role is not his birth right, so he should stop acting like it’s him or no one else. “He’s not going about it the right way. Keshi can’t employ those employing him, so if he’s not happy he should come back to us and we can look into it. “Keshi has worked in other countries and he didn’t engage Togo and Mali in a media war, so if he has advisers then they should tell him the matured path to follow, “Anywansi-Agwu added. Former international Daniel Amokachi has been in charge of Nigeria on a temporary basis since December due to the uncertainty surrounding the coach’s position. leading the Super Eagles to the 2013 Nations Cup title. However, he failed to qualify Nigeria for the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, dividing opinion on whether he should continue as coach. Nevertheless, Keshi said he had received a new deal, though he was far from impressed with what was on offer. In response, NFF technical committee chairman Anyansi-Agwu says Keshi should direct his reservations about the http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/go-if-youre-not-happy-with-our-contract-nff-tells-keshi/ |

21.1k Aleppo | An ISIS jihadist has recently converted to Christianity after being left for dead near the Eastern border of Syria where he was finally rescued by Christian missionaries from the region, reports the Aleppo Herald this morning. The man, that has miraculously survived multiple gun shot wounds after an altercation between ISIS and Syrian Army forces, was rescued by members of the Saint Dominican Catholic Presbytery of Ayyash hours after the conflict had erupted. The members of the Christian organization wanted to give the man a proper Christian burial and carried him over 26 kilometers before the man miraculously came back to life as he was believed to have died from his wounds. The man was believed to be dead for hours before he suddenly came back to life, recalls priest Hermann Groschlin, who discovered the body of the young man As the man came back to his senses, he reported to priest Hermann Groschlin of the visions he had whilst in the afterlife, an event that profoundly changed the 32-year old jihadist and eventually led to his conversion to Christianity days later. “He told me that he was always taught that to die as a martyr would open him the Gates of Jannah, or Gates of Heaven” recalled the priest. “Yet, as he had started to ascend towards the light of the Heavens, devilish entities, or Jinns he called them, appeared and led him to the fiery pits of Hell. There he had to relive all the pain he had inflicted upon others and every death he had caused throughout his entire life. He even had to relive the decapitations of his victims through their own eyes”, images the jihadist claims will haunt him for the rest of his life, admits the priest. “Then Allah, or God, spoke unto him and told him that he had failed miserably as a human soul, that he would be banned from the Gates of Heaven if he chose to die, but that if he chose to live again, he would have another chance to repent of his sins and walk along God’s path once again” The young man claims he was brought back to life moments later and eventually converted to Christianity days later, believing he had been misled throughout his religious life under the worship of Allah. The young man, who’s wounds have surprisingly healed in a very short time, has chosen to live amongst the members of the Catholic presbytery who rescued him from the desert and hopes his story will help other ISIS fighters change their ways and convert to the one and only true God, the priest told local reporters. http://worldnewsdailyreport.com/isis-fighter-converts-to-christianity-after-allah-refuses-him-entrance-to-gates-of-heaven/

Lagos – A Russian TV actor woke up with his testicles stolen after having a drink with an attractive blonde who authorities believe was working with organ traffickers, Daily Mail reports. Dmitry Nikolaev, 30, visited a bar after he performed in a play at a small Moscow theatre, where he was approached by an attractive blonde woman who invited him to a sauna. According to the married actor, they kissed and drank more beer and after he didn’t remember anything else. He woke the next morning at a bus stop and he had slight pain and blood on his pants. He went to the hospital where they discovered that his testicles had been removed but it was done almost like a proper surgery by someone who has medical education. The police believe that his beer was spiked with an unknown drug and the removal of his testicles was orchestrated by an organ trafficking gang which might include a doctor. http://m.news24.com/nigeria/World/News/Married-man-wakes-up-to-find-his-testicles-have-been-stolen-20150226 |
German trainer Gernot Rohr has been named coach of the Burkina Faso national football team, a report on the CAF website said on Wednesday. Rohr replaces Belgian Paul Put, who parted ways with “Les Etalons” after the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations held in Equatorial Guinea in January. At the competition, the Burkinabes who were finalists at the previous edition in South Africa crashed out at the group stages. The report quoted a statement by the Federation Burkinabe de Football released on Tuesday night as announcing the new appointment. It said the federation settled for the 61-year old as the best option. Before this, the FBF had named a three-man list which had Rohr, Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi and Milovan Rajevac of Serbia from 38 applications received for the vacant post. The federation said the German trainer would be unveiled to the press in the next few days after the terms of engagement between the two parties are finalised. Rohr was previously in charge of Gabon and Niger, guiding the former to the quarter finals of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He went on to crash out at the first round with Niger during the 2013 edition in South Africa. http://www.punchng.com/news/keshi-fails-to-clinch-burkina-faso-job/ |
Lagos - Long before Boko Haram's uprising plunged the region into crisis, the area below Lake Chad was part of a powerful Islamic empire, known for religious piety and unity spanning roughly 1 000 years. The scope of the Kanem-Bornu empire changed repeatedly from its founding in the ninth century to its downfall in the 1890s but at its height the kingdom included modern day northeast Nigeria, as well as parts of neighbouring Cameroon, Chad and Niger. Boko Haram, which has claimed to be fighting to create an Islamic state in Nigeria, has widened its insurgency through attacks in Cameroon and, more recently, Chad and Niger, where the group launched its first-ever strikes this month. Those hardest hit by the violence are ethnic Kanuris, a community represented in all four nations and which also led the Kanem-Bornu empire. Also Read:Boko Haram violence hits fish industry in NE Nigeria Experts say that Boko Haram has at times tried to invoke the Kanem-Bornu legacy, recalling a pious pre-colonial empire that transcended European-imposed borders to justify attacks against targets it deems un-Islamic. But that strategy is almost certain to fail as the insurgents' relentless massacres and kidnappings have destroyed any credibility they may have had among the Kanuri, analysts said. Citing the fallen empire to legitimise a modern jihad "will not catch on at all", said Professor Sidiqque Mohammed, of Nigeria's Ahmadu Bello University. Boko Haram's leaders "have no sense of history", he told AFP. A 'great empire' Kanem-Bornu was a centre of Islamic scholarship, attracting visitors from across the Sahel and Arab areas further east, according to Vincent Hiribarren, a professor at King's College, London, and author of the forthcoming book, "A History of Borno". The empire's remarkable cohesion over a millennium was partly forged through a commitment to Islam, he said. "It is something (the Kauri) are very proud of", he said, adding that people in the region often speak of "the great empire". A source of particular pride was the empire's continued independence in the face of advances by a neighbouring caliphate founded by Usman Dan Fodio, a revered 19th-century jihadist. In carving out what was one of the largest states in West Africa, Dan Fodio conquered most of modern-day northern Nigeria and chunks of neighbouring states. His caliphate based in the city of Sokoto fell to British colonialists in 1903. But Sokoto's attempt to topple Kanem-Bornu was eventually repelled by the empire's mostly Kanuri forces. Some experts say this bitter history still strains relations between the Kanuri and the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups that dominate the rest of northern Nigeria. But it also complicates efforts to understand the recent rhetoric used by Boko Haram. A video message from Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, believed to be Kanuri, released on February 17 included a celebratory reference to Dan Fodio. Confused messages Hiribarren and other academics said there is evidence of Shekau and the group's late founder Mohammed Yusuf citing Kanem-Bornu as part of their ideological rejection of the Nigerian state. The precise record is unclear with respect to public messages, including Yusuf's sermons which were widely distributed before his 2009 death and videos released by Shekau. But most agree that some Boko Haram commanders have invoked the great Kanuri Islamic legacy in trying to attract or indoctrinate new fighters. "It is a reappropriation of a glorious past," said Hiribarren. Yan St-Pierre, who heads the Modern Security Consulting Group, agreed that Boko Haram has used Kanem-Bornu to create "historical legitimacy". Also Read: Army unearthes terrorists posing as women in Baga But, he noted, the insurgency has demonstrated an "ideological devolution" since its founding in 2002 and this use of history probably has limited impact now. The Islamist movement which began under Yusuf, partly drawing members from those frustrated with Nigeria's woeful governance, has over the last five years morphed into a ruthless rebellion that deliberately targets defenceless civilians, including children. Any claim by Shekau or his deputies to be fighting for the reclamation of Kanem-Bornu is also undermined by Boko Haram's multiple assassination attempts against the empire's living heir, Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, known as the Shehu of Borno, who is Nigeria's number three Islamic cleric. Cross-border attacks have little to do with empire restoration and more to do with revenge against the militaries of Cameroon, Chad and Niger who are now cooperating with Nigeria to crush the insurgency, St-Pierre said. For Hiribarren, the spreading conflict means the Nigerian militants are being exposed to a wider network of Kanuri people who share "a cultural community of people who speak the same language and who used to be part of the same kingdom. "Is Boko Haram capitalising on this? I'm not so sure," he said. - AFP http://www.news24.com.ng/National/News/Boko-Haram-targets-region-where-powerful-empire-once-reigned-20150224-4 |

battle. Nigeria’s military had announced it recaptured Baga from Boko Haram and posted pictures, more than a month after the town was overrun in the worst massacre of the Islamist terror group’s six-year insurgency. Defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said many terrorists had drowned in Lake Chad as they tried to flee bombardment from Nigerian air force jets. The town, a fishing hub on the shore of the lake in the far north of Borno state in north-east Nigeria, was recaptured on Saturday afternoon after an assault that began the previous day, he said. But the insurgent group Jama’atu AhlisSunnah Lidda’awati Waljahad, popularly known as Boko Haram took to Twitter on Sunday to deny the claim. Using this handle ‘@Urwatu_Wutqa’, the group posted the following: The group, in a new public relations offensive, got suspended when they launched their first Twitter account @Alurwa Alwuthqa. http://africanspotlight.com/2015/02/23/nigerian-army-lied-baga-is-still-under-our-control-boko-haram-claims/
