Ikeja – The Lagos State Government on Friday said two persons out of those who had contacts with Mr Patrick Sawyer, the dead Liberian Ebola victim had manifested symptoms of fever. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, made the disclosure when he addressed newsmen on the update of the country`s first Ebola case in Ikeja. Idris said the two persons were among the 70 contacts being monitored and investigated for any symptoms of the disease by the state government and other partners. The commissioner, who said the two cases were under observation, however stressed that they did not test positive to the virus. Idris said the state government would continue to monitor all contacts with the victims until the end of the 21 incubation day period of the virus. “Our Rapid Response Team is currently tracking all contacts of persons exposed to the dead passenger with Ebola virus. “The contract tracing team is following 70 contacts of the EVD case and linking them to clinical support when needed. “Two suspect cases had fever, they are under observation and so far have tested negative to the virus. “The monitoring of suspect cases will continue until the end of them period of 21 days from their exposure to the victim,’’ he said. The commissioner said an emergency operation centre had been activated in Lagos ,by the state and its partners as part of efforts to check the threat of the virus. He added that the Federal Government had stepped up measures to screen incoming passengers to Nigeria to identify any traveler with symptoms through, airport, seaport and border crossing. Idris said a deceased body was recently brought to Nigeria from Liberia, explaining that the government was investigating if he died from Ebola. The commissioner urged residents to collaborate with government in checking the Ebola threat in the country by reporting suspected case for government`s intervention. While saying diseases thrived well in dirty environments ,Idris urged residents to maintain clean body and environment to reduce the risk of the virus. Also speaking. Prof. Abdul Salim Nasidi of the National Disease Control Centre said noted that though disease had no cure ,it was treatable. He warned members of the public against emphasizing that the virus had not cure, saying it might discourage those with suspected cases from accessing treatment. While saying the Federal Government was doing everything to check the threat of the disease,Nasidi urged citizens not to panic as no fresh case had been discovered yet in the country. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/ebola-lagos-govt-confirms-2-contact-dead-victim-fever/ (UC Browser) |

WHAT IS EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE? Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is the human disease caused by Ebola viruses. Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus with a fever, throat and muscle pains, and headaches. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the disease has a case fatality rate of up to 90%, this means about 90% of individuals that suffer from the disease could die. TREATMENT No vaccine for EVD is available. Several vaccines are being tested, but none are available for clinical use. TRANSMISSION Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals. Ebola then spreads in the community through human-to-human transmission, with infection resulting from direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and indirect contact with environments contaminated with such fluids. Burial ceremonies in which mourners have direct contact with the body of the deceased person can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness. Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed EVD. PREVENTION: Wash your hands frequently. As with other infectious diseases, one of the most important preventive measures for Ebola virus is frequent hand-washing. Use soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol when soap and water aren't available. Avoid bush meat. In developing countries, wild animals, including nonhuman primates, are sold in local markets. Avoid buying or eating any of these animals. Avoid contact with infected people. In particular, caregivers should avoid contact with the person's body fluids and tissues, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions and saliva. People with Ebola are most contagious in the later stages of the disease. Follow infection-control procedures. If you're a health care worker, wear protective clothing — such as gloves, masks, gowns and eye shields. Keep infected people isolated from others. Carefully disinfect and dispose of needles and other instruments. Injection needles and syringes should not be reused. Don't handle remains. The bodies of people who have died of Ebola disease are still contagious. Specially organized and trained teams should bury the remains, using appropriate safety equipment. Avoid travelling to areas of known outbreaks. Watch out for people with flu-like symptoms and sudden fever. Those who notice “strange feeling or symptoms similar to those of Ebola virus, which ranges from fever, headache, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, sore throat and joint pains, which are all symptoms of other ailments, are urged to visit competent health facilities. Please visit any nearby hospital for early detection and control. |

BANTHU TIME WROTE You don't know what you have until you lose it as today many Libyans wish Colonel Gaddafi was around. They wish there was no war and wish they had agreed to Gaddafi's final speech before war when he accepted multiparty democracy to be introduced and agreed for a referendum to take place making it clear he was ready to step down if there was a peaceful election instead of war. Now this is what Libya is missing from Gaddafi's time: 1. All the newly weds people of Libya used to get about 50,000 dollars from Government to lead a very happy life. 2. Home is the basic right of every citizen of Libya. 3. There was no electricity bill in Libya. Electricity was free. 4. No interest loan for the people of Libya according to Law. Gaddafi was against interest since interest is forbidden in Islam. 5. Gaddafi has increased the literacy rate from 25% to 83%. Education expenses in Government universities was free. 6. Medical expenses in Government hospitals was free in Libya. 7. The price of the petrol was 0.14 cents in Libya. Yes we all know Libya has got good petroleum resources. But the price seems to be too low. Isn't it? 8. When Libyan citizen wants to buy a car, Government used to subsidized 50% of the price of the car. 50%? sounds great! 9. A huge bread used to cost only 15 cents in Libya. 10. The GDP per capita of Libya is very high. Over 15,000 us dollars. Purchasing power was very high compare to the GDP. 11. The economy of Libya was improving rapidly. In 2010 it had 10% growth. It has not external debts. It also has the reserves amount of 150+ billion dollars. 12. Unemployment fees were given from the government until the person finds a Job. 13. A Libyan mother used to get 5000 us dollars for giving birth. May his rest in peace ameen. Should we have this kind of opotunity in Nigeria? Nigeria would have been a beter place in the world |

KIRKUK (AFP) – Christians were fleeing Iraq’s jihadist-held city of Mosul en masse Friday after mosques relayed an ultimatum giving them a few hours to leave, the country’s Chaldean patriarch and witnesses said. “Christian families are on their way to Dohuk and Arbil,” in the neighbouring autonomous region of Kurdistan, Patriarch Louis Sako told AFP. “For the first time in the history of Iraq, Mosul is now empty of Christians.” Witnesses said messages telling Christians to leave the city by Saturday were blared through loudspeakers from the city’s mosques Friday. A statement dated from last week and purportedly issued by the Islamic State jihadist group that took over the city and large swathes of Iraq during a sweeping offensive last month warned Mosul’s Christians they should convert, pay a special tax, leave or face death. “We were shocked by the distribution of a statement by the Islamic State calling on Christians to convert to Islam, or to pay unspecified tribute, or to leave their city and their homes taking only their clothes and no luggage, and that their homes would then belong to the Islamic State,” Sako said. The patriarch, who is one of the most senior Christian clerics in Iraq, and residents contacted by AFP said Islamic State militants had in recent days been tagging Christian houses with the letter N for “Nassarah”, the term by which the Koran refers to Christians. The statement, which was seen by AFP, said “there will be nothing for them but the sword” if Christians reject those conditions. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/christians-fleeing-iraqs-mosul-jihadist-ultimatum/ (UC Browser) |
NIGERIANS- LISTEN TO YOUR PROPHET June 2, 2014 12:23 PM Nigeria map One might ask why a nation like Nigeria that has a world class Prophet like T.B Joshua and other great Men of God known worldwide continue to experience bombings and killings of all sort, perpetrated by some extremist group in their country?, Why can’t God use T.B Joshua to end the crisis in his own land just as HE has been using the Prophet to do greater things in the life of many and other nations all over the world? But let us not be quick to forget that since the start of the present crisis in Nigeria, T.B Joshua has remained persistent in exposing the mind of God concerning the situation of terror presently facing the nation. Prophet T.B Joshua has continued to advice the nation on how to handle the Boko-Haram crisis for peace to return to the land but, unfortunately, those in the higher authorities in the country, neither take him, his advices nor his prophetic declaration serious; all of his words where ignored and swept under the carpet. It was in Prophet Elisha’s reign that there was a great famine in Samaria, where Parents were using their Sons for meal to survive and yet, Elisha could not do anything about it until the king recognized the God of Elisha (2King6). When a nation ignores Gods voice, such nation will keep on prolonging her crisis and keep fighting the wrong battle that may even consume them at the end. In a battle of warfare everyone has his or her own role to play, the Prophet can’t do what is meant for the Soldier likewise, the Soldier cant do what is meant for the Prophet. The Crisis in Nigeria is a battle between light and darkness, you cannot fight darkness with darkness, you need light to fight darkness and this is why the nation needs to seek counsel from the Prophet to handle their present situation. The killing and arrest of key leaders of the Boko-Haram sect and other extremist group will not guarantee the end of terrorism and militancy in Nigeria; only peaceful negotiation and Gods intervention can stop this act of terror in Nigeria. Let the leaders be united, throw sentiment away and seek for counsel from the Prophet; never say we are in a modern world and Prophets are not needed. The God who raised a Prophet like T.B Joshua in this modern age has reasons for doing so; and the Prophet has shown his genuine willingness to help the nation. The nation should take note that most of those International nations fighting terrorists and advocating for no negotiation with terrorists; are not fighting this extremist group in their own soil, neither are they fighting them in their territory and also, the terrorist they are fighting are not their citizens but foreigners. But the Nigeria case is a fight between the Government and some group of citizens brainwashed to fight their people due to some unclear motives. And the Government should not close its eyes to the fact that some of the politicians and security personnel are Sympathetic to this extremist group which is also very dangerous to the territorial integrity of the nation if immediate actions are not taking to invite all parties involved to a negotiation table to end the act of terror. The more a nation ignores God’s instructions, the more the evil plans of the devil will continue to strive in that Land. First get the terrorist to drop their arms through a peaceful negotiation and God will take control of the rest. God loves sinners but hates sin; that is, He loves thieves, killers, homosexuals, kidnappers and terrorists but hates the spirit behind their misconduct. The battle is not a fight against flesh and blood but evil spirits therefore; our neighbors are not the enemies but evil spirit. http://watchedtbjoshua./2014/06/02/nigerians-listen-to-your-prophet/ |
http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4949103 Former Fifa Advisor and member Fifa Study Group, Festus Adegboye Onigbinde has called the bluff of the football governing body for suspending Nigeriafor government interference in football matters. Fifa’s suspension came as it found the Nigerian government culpable in the appointment of an interim regime, after a court order evicted the previous board, that conveyed a congress “in violation of the NFF statutes”. Onigbinde, however, disclosed that it was high time Nigeria made important decisions on the running of football. “You don’t expect a government to invest huge sums of money in the running of football in Nigeria and still be handicapped in making some contributions to football in the country,” Onigbinde said. “If Fifa doesn’t consider Nigerian government sponsorship of football and the huge sums of money in day to day running of the game, as well as sponsorship of national teams in world tournaments as government interference, but intervening as a result of court order to ensure peace and order as interference, then my advice is that the government of Nigeria should hands off entirely the finance and sponsorship of the game in the country. “Let the administrators removed by the NFF Congress be reinstated and start sponsoring football all alone without the support of the Federal Government of Nigeria and see how effective and efficient it would be. “If Fifa says we should bring them back, let’s bring them back and let them go and look for the money to run their affairs because giving them money will also amount to interference. “What the Nation should do now is to sit down and restructure our football physically and technically. What I expect the Nigerian government to tell Fifa is that they have let go and have left them to run the game without expecting their money. They should also tell the state governments who have been spending so much on football to hands off, same to the local governments to hands off. “Government should not be offended by the stance of Fifa, they should take it to be that Fifa have taken away a load from them. And if tomorrow, we decide to bring ourselves together to call ourselves the Nigeria Soccer Association, at least that one is not under Fifa and if we decide to play among ourselves Fifa will not say we cannot play our football, they only said we cannot play among the Fifa member nations. And maybe for the next three years we can decide to be playing among ourselves, at least Fifa cannot arrest us for playing locally. “And, while we are on break, we should be restructuring. For now the government should listen to Fifa and reinstate them for them to run their own football. They should not intimidate us by this suspension. “If I were the minister I won’t be budged because football is dead both administratively and technically in the country and we need time to re-organize our football. If this suspension would help us to achieve this then let it be,” Onigbinde said. Nigeria stand the risk of not participating at Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup in Canada next month. The suspension could also affect the country’s participation in the qualifying series for the African Youth Championship as well as the Africa Cup of Nations. |
The Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo, on Wednesday said the Federal Government was probing the non-payment of the entitlements of the Super Eagles which led to the players’ protest in Brazil. Danagogo told State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that the development, which occurred at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, was embarrassing and unfortunate. He said it was mind-boggling that in spite of President Goodluck Jonathan’s approval of funds for the payment of all the players’ match bonuses and allowances, they were still not paid. “We know that President Jonathan approved every kobo that we needed at the World Cup and it was promptly released. So, we didn’t need to have that problem. “Even FIFA gives money for the same thing, and the players should get their money. “So, there is no reason on this earth why the players should not get what they should get, because government has done everything and FIFA is saying it has done everything necessary,’’ the minister said. He said he was unaware of the development until he met the players in Brazil before their 0-2 loss to France in the Round of 16 at the World Cup competition. “The grumbling did not start at this World Cup. In fact, these boys have been bitter that right from the 2013 African Nations Cup in South Africa and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, they have entitlements that are not paid. “I wasn’t in the know of all these until I got to Brazil, and we (the National Sports Commission) did our best that was possible to intervene. “The President of the Senate did everything possible to resolve the situation, and even President Jonathan came in and handled it as a father,’’ Danagogo added. The Sports Minister insisted that mismanagement of funds was partly responsible for the crisis in the Nigeria Football Association (NFA). He said the Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, and other young players who were considering retiring from the team were doing so “out of frustration over unpaid entitlements and other welfare issues’’. Danagogo, however, assured Nigerians that government had put measures in place to ensure the welfare of players was taken care of. He said government, in this regard, was footing the medical bills of the three players who were injured at the ongoing World Cup in hospitals of their choice around the world On the Super Eagles’ performance at the World Cup, he said while it was not a disgraceful performance, it was also below what Nigerians expected. “Nigeria is a country that has a pool of talents. We have such talents that can take us to the very highest level in football. “But, unfortunately, we were unable to break the jinx of not going beyond the Round of 16. But we made it to the Round of 16, and that was not a disgraceful performance “We expected that we should go further than that. But I think we have learnt our lessons from this outing, and we are beginning to look inwards. “We are going back to the drawing board, and I can assure Nigerians that we will come out better and stronger in our next outings,’’ the Sports Minister said.(NAN) source http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/fg-probing-non-payment-super-eagles-entitlements-danagogo/ |

She's formaly tested HIV positive 5times at deferent hospitals and had been living on drug for the past 5years. (she brought out the results and Drugs) But when she came to the man of God last month he prayed for her and was told to go back to same hospitals and run aother test.
