Roma may have produced a miracle of their own on
Tuesday and it's now Sevilla's turn with the Andalusian club
heading to Bavaria to face Bayern Munich, in the hope of
qualifying for the semi-final.
Bayern Munich were 2-1 winners in the first leg at the
Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan yet Vincenzo Montella's
charges could feel really quite hard done by.
Profligacy in front of goal cost them, despite taking a one-
goal lead they really should have added to their tally before
Jesus Navas' own goal.
The two away goals scored by Jupp Heynckes' charges make
the second leg a daunting task for Sevilla, their immediate
goal must be to record a 2-0 victory in order to ensure
progression.
Sevilla won't go out with a whimper though, Los Rojiblancos
have fought so hard over the years to develop into a
Champions League regular and, now they're in the quarter-
final stage, surrender isn't an option.
Not since their victory at Wembley Stadium in 2013 have
Bayern Munich reached the Champions League final, the
lack of success in the competition since then has left those in
charge at the club disappointed to say the least.
In Heynckes, they have a coach in place, at least
temporarily, who knows how to negotiate the latter stages of
the tournament; you don't get the sense complacency will be
an issue.
David Soria was hopeful that his team can produce at yet
another elite European arena, it must be remembered that
the club's 2-1 victory at Old Trafford was also an incredible
shock, a repeat result on Wednesday would ensure extra
time.
"If we beat Manchester, then we can also win in Munich," he
explained in his pre-match press conference.
There is a certain spirit within the Sevilla squad that has
survived a coaching change, their 3-3 draw against Liverpool
despite being 3-0 down was a memorable moment and the
team wants to go out fighting at the very least.
Bayern may be weighed down by expectation, their
experiences in the Champions League of late have been
scarring, especially against Real Madrid last season,
although for Sevilla to progress there may need to be a
second miracle in the space of 24 hours. |

Crime / Ondo State Police Deny Shooting Protesting Students by SamuelTurner(m): 10:22pm On Apr 10, 2018 |
The Ondo State Police Command has denied a report that its officers shot at protesting students on Monday, April 9, in Akure. The commissioner of police in Ondo state, Olugbenga Adeyanju, told newsmen on Tuesday, April 10, in Akure that only minimal force was used during the protest. He described the report of shooting as uncalled for, saying no body had yet turned up with gunshot injuries “To the glory of God, with the cooperation of my command and the good people of Ondo State, we have managed the crisis very well. “If anyone was shot as claimed by the students, you journalists who are closer to the public would have confirmed it. “I was there personally and even the whole command closed down since the start of this protest so as to put the situation under control. Nobody was shot and no one was injured,” he said. The commissioner, however, said he ordered the use of the tear gas, which he described as “minimum force,” to disperse the students. “Naturally, it is minimum force. I claim the responsibility. I ordered that tear gas should be used to disperse them, I gave the instruction. “There was a pregnant woman who was on her way to the hospital to deliver a baby, she was bleeding profusely and she was blocked from moving. “We have to clear the road to enable her get to the hospital before it’s too late. “People who are coming from the bank and those going into the bank were prevented from doing so and as security officers, it behoves on us to clear the road for them, hence the need for the minimum force,” he said. Adeyanju enjoined residents of the state to go about their legitimate duties, assuring that the command was in control of the situation and would prevent any breakdown of law and order. In a previous report by NAIJ.com, Adekunle Ajasin University students on Monday, April 9, blocked roads in in Akungba Akoko to protest the sharp increase in school fees which was recently announced. Students of the institution are expected to pay 500 per cent higher than previous fees. Ijanusi Olawale, the students union president said the protests would be held in various states such as Oyo, Osun, Lagos and many others, Premium Times reports. Politics / 7 Reasons Buhari May Lose Re-election In 2019 (no. 1 Is The Realest) by SamuelTurner(m): 8:57pm On Apr 10, 2018 |
Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, April 9 declared his intention to seek re-election in the 2019 general elections. Read HERE in case you missed the news when President Buhari made it know he will be running for Second term. Some Nigerians have expressed their displeasure over the president’s re-election bid, while pro-Buharists have continued to garner supports for his second term ambition. On the basis of the foregoing, Naijaloaded highlights the 7 reasons President Muhammadu Buhari may lose re- election in 2019. 1. Herdsmen Attack Nigeria has been battling with the crises between herdsmen and farmers before the present administration came on board. However, many thought with the antecedent of President Muhammadu Buhari, many believed that within the shortest pace of time, herdsmen attack across the country would be a thing of the past. But they were wrong as these crises linger on and many lives have been lost in it. Amnesty International (AI), a global human rights watchdog, described the response of the federal government to communal violence as grossly inadequate, too slow, ineffective, and in certain instances, illegal. AI claimed that in January 2018 alone, clashes between herdsmen and farmers in Adamawa, Benue, Taraba, Ondo and Kaduna states, resulted in 168 deaths. According to the body, hundreds of people lost their lives in 2017 and the federal government remained unable to protect communities from the violent clashes, adding that perpetrators were daily getting away with murder. 2. Recession When we all thought the Dollar was too expensive during Jonathan’s administration thinking Buhari will help us step it down, not knowing it’s going to be a case of Fry Pan to fire. In August 2016, Nigeria Nigeria slipped into recession. According to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the second quarter of 2016 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) declined by -2.06 per cent. Many Economists attributed the recession to poor economic planning and inadequate concrete implementation of economic planning, high inflation rate; high interest rate, high taxation, and policy conflict. Most significantly, it was attributed to the over dependent of Nigeria government on oil for over 60% of its total revenues and the country for over 90% of her foreign exchange earnings. Nigerians were thrown into hardship during this period of recession as prices of commodities in the market skyrocketed. Even though the NBS announced in September 2017 that Nigerian economy was out of recession, the people of Nigeria are yet to feel the difference between the period the country slipped into recession and when it emerged from recession. 3. Insecurity Insecurity is one of the major problems bedeviling Nigeria. Killings, Suic*de bombing and kidnapping have become the order of the day in Nigeria. Many innocent lives have been lost to armed robbery and kidnapping, and the government has not been able to nip this menace in the bud. Many are asking if the government still remembers its constitutional function of protecting the lives and property of its citizens. 4. Religious Issues Nothing has so much divided Nigerians than religion. Many believe that religious crises are more political than religious. The Boko Haram insurgency and the violence in Jos are examples of religious crises that the country is plagued with. In Jos, the crises between Christians and Muslims have not been resolved yet, and many lives have been lost to these crises. Before President Buhari took over the mantle of leadership, the electorate had hoped that these and other problems facing the country would become history if he was elected to steer the ship of state. 5. Party Crisis If the All Progressives Congress (APC) members can’t put their own house in order, who will? The internal crisis rocking the ruling party is an impediment which could mar the chance of the party in the 2019 general elections. Although, President Muhammadu Buhari designated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resolve disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the federation, but the crisis continues to deepen. If the APC leadership allows the crisis to hit a crescendo, then it should bid farewell to the presidency in 2019. 6. Unemployment Higher Institutions keeps releasing Millions of Graduates yearly even when those of the year before are still languishing at home looking for what to do. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s unemployment rate currently stands at 18.80 percent. Year in year out the country is producing graduates that without producing employment opportunities. This and many other factors are responsible for different crimes that are plaguing us a nation. Nigerian youths are angry because they are jobless, and an angry youth would only try to change the status quo, as was the case with President Goodluck Jonathan when angry Nigerians chased him out of power. 7. His Government Favors The Northerners More President Buhari is perceived by many to be nepotistic (meaning, he favors his relatives & family the most). Many have expressed their displeasure about the president’s appointments, saying that he favours the north at the detriment of others. The president was accused by a Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, of giving key positions to his cousins, nephews and in-laws. A closer look into his Cabinet shows President Buhari administrations favors the Northerners more. The End!!! ++++++++++ Chapter 5 +++++++++++++ "Complicated" It has now become the trending topic on everybody's lips that a lecturer is dating a female student. This made Kunle to have so many thoughts about him and Blessing. The truth is that he don't really love Blessing, he only planned to get under her skirt like he normally do to all the female students that falls under his trap but the outcome he's getting now is not part of the script he had written. He don't want to be see as a weakling man that's why he told Blessing that he will make their relationship official. "You can be inside the river and be complaining of cold, if a man runs aways from war, what should a woman do? Help me!! Help me!! Is not an anthem for a soldier man" these are the watchword that Kunle usually use to encourage himself whenever his mind drifted to relationship between him and Blessing. He later concluded that he do everything so as to make sure that Tunji never win. Blessing also on the other hand seems afraid because of the people Tunji were working with or rather say working with Tunji, most of them are into cultism and they all have connections inside and out side Lagos and the worst of it was the letter they received few weeks ago. The letter was pasted on the school notice board It goes thus: From The House Of The Big Boys Hell Road, Street Of Thieves Abuja. Nigeria 10-10-1982 To Prof Kunle This is letter of greeting from us to you our honorable professor, we are using this medium to warn you to desist from the secret affairs you're having with one of the students we put under you. We knew when you started your affairs with Blessing, we were quiet watching you maybe your ancestors are with you but you proved to us that they are dead and gone. The end of the line you're threading is dangerous and we're begging you to back off or else!!! " A Word they say is enough for the wise" Yours' Truly Buccaneers Blessing slept in Kunle's house that very day, they went to club where one of kunle's friend was celebrating birthday. Tosin was also with Segun. So none of them slept in the hostel room. The time was already after 2am when Blessing and Kunle got home. They started another merriment and later slept like log of woods Don't forget that neither Blessing nor Tosin slept in the hostel room. Nobody will kuku ask them where they were coming from. Ademola, Fela, Olusesan and Daniel were the one who wrote the letter that was sent to Kunle and Blessing. They pasted one at Blessing door post and did the same to Kunle door post and they pasted the last one to the school notice board. They did the job during midnight with the help of some of their buccaneers members . Like I said earlier, Blessing and Kunle slept like log of woods that they don't even know that the time was far spent. It was John the house boy the knocked at their door to tell them about the parcel he received. Kunle came out wearing his nighties, he collected the parcel from John and opened it. He saw the letter and read the articles inside. He shivered, his countenance changed, he caused the first day he met Blessing |
