The Airlander 10, took its maiden flight on Wednesday. It is the world’s largest aircraft from its 92 m length which is longer by 15m from the biggest passenger jets. The aircraft was initially designed for the US military surveillance but was grounded in 2013 due to defence spending cuts.
After months of flight preparations, years of sourcing for funds the plane finally took a half an hour flight across Britain. The aircraft doesn’t need a runway to take off like most planes but can operate from any land surface, snow, ice, desert and open water.
Airlander can stay for up to two weeks airborne when unmanned but five days when manned. It has a capacity of 10 tonnes of cargo at a maximum speed of 91 miles per hour.
According to the manufacturer the aircraft can be used for surveillance, communications and humanitarian aid deliveries. The Airlander 10 uses helium to stay afloat unlike other notable aircrafts.
According to Hybrid Air Vehicles, it can also withstand “numerous bullet holes” and operate “in all weather conditions.”

In what will come across as a really shocking development, a school teacher has nearly been burnt alive.
Pure drama took over a High School in South Africa as pupils attacked their teacher.
The High school teacher was nearly set alight by his own pupils during a violent protest over a shortage of teachers last Thursday.

According to Daily Sun SA, the teacher, who works at Mhlanganisweni Technical and Commercial High School in Lujecweni Village, near Port St John’s, in the Eastern Cape, was accused of being too close to the principal.
He was rescued by parents who arrived just as a mob of pupils were about to burn him alive.
Five classrooms and two offices in the administration block were burned at the school, which has since closed its gates.
Resident Nolenti Zamuxolo said she was disturbed by the children’s behaviour.
“It was not easy for us to build this school for them. I do not understand why they destroyed property that is meant to help them,” said Nolenti.
Thobela Tshicila, president of the school’s student representative council, said: “We do not have enough teachers for geography and physical and life sciences. We asked the principal for more teachers, but we didn’t get them.
“As for the burning of the school, it was not planned. Things got out of hand and it was impossible to control the angry mob of students.”
School principal Thanduxolo Mntwini said: “I have written many times to the education department to request more teachers.
“There will be a big meeting on Tuesday with pupils, parents, Sadtu and the local chief.”

An Igbosere Magistrates' Court in Lagos State, on Tuesday, slammed a N100,000 bail on a 26-year-old company employee, Dayo Moses, who allegedly stole toiletries worth N6,000 belonging to his employer.
The accused, who resides at Block 133, Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Magistrate, Olanike Olagbende, who gave the ruling, adjourned the case till September 30 for mention.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Ishola Samuel, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 11 at about 7.20 a.m. at the premises of Spar Company Limited, Lekki.
He alleged that the accused stole six pieces of Nivea roll, Joy soap and Nivea body cream valued at N6,000, property of the company.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
