TravelRe: Does It Make Sense To Remain In Nigeria by sarnucey(m): 11:11pm On Feb 11, 2022
Some people have given you a sincere advise, especially those already in Europe. If you actually have the passion and readiness to hustle in Europe or abroad, then you should leave Nigeria. Plus you have to consider other factors like cultural, religious and social difference abroad.

Now let me give a breakdown. If you choose to come to Germany for instance, with your savings, you will need to borrow additional 4.8m or so. To pay back this money, after your first 3-4 months needed to gather docs, it will take you atleast 1.5years if you work more than the 120days allowed for students for atleast 18months. This is because rent, semester fee, health insurance, feeding, internet, radio bills and flexing will take atleast 70 percent of your income monthly.

If you get additional skills, language and able to land an official job in your field of study within the 18months issued for job search after your masters, then you can settle and begin enjoying life in less than 5 years in Europe though everything you own might be on credit, house, car etc.

The factors I mentioned earlier now come in. Who to marry, raising kids in environment different from Africa,we shun some stuffs that are norms here.

All in all, you need to weigh your options, think deep and make your decision. Only God knows the exact place our individual dreams will come true.

Peace out.

Ahmed4002:
Check on the Nigeria consulate website in Germany.
The payment is fixed via online and book an appointment. But it should be in Berlin, then plan your trip and everything accordingly.

You should have done this before leaving Nigeria, instead of all this stress.
Thanks a ton. I appreciate.

Ahmed4002:
They might not issue 2yrs permit for you. I would advice you to chill for a while, but although depends on the city, as you need permit for some other stuff and registration.
You just have to look for Nigeria consulate and get a new passport immediately. Its take less than 24hr. Preferable do that if you chance. As your passport can be renewed since its within the time frame already.

Hi house, please enlighten me.

My passport expires in 7months, I was issued 6months VISA before leaving Nigeria for Jena. I will be going for my residence permit in few days, do I have to apply for a new passport that last for more than two years to get my 2 years permit or the Bürger Service issues the permit despite few months to my passport expiry date?

Hi guys,

I haven't been on this thread for long. I am one of the Nigerians that benefited enormously from the German Student Visa thread. Sorry, I didn't come here often to give back to the prospective students (Study life and work didn’t make it easy).

I would like to give the following advice to prospective students:

1. Consider the chance to study in Germany a privilege. Germany is one of the few countries that provides the platform for international students (from developing countries) to study without paying a fortune.

2. Life here would not be easy. The point here is, if you are not from a rich family, you would have to work while you study. Unfortunately, in some cases, I have seen fellow international students with misplaced priorities. Some international students (from developing countries) make jobs their "main job", and their study "mini-jobs". Education in Germany is designed in a way that you cannot get rich as a student and succeed in education at the same time. You have to choose one. I recommend you choose a part-time job; this enables you to complete your studies successfully in due time.

3. Learn German. No one expects you to speak the language perfectly. If you spend about 1-2 hours each day learning German, you will reach an intermediate level in 6 months (practice speaking, listening, writing) - In my opinion, speaking and listening are the most important of all. The point is learning, at least, basic German is important to find student jobs because a worker would have to speak German to attend to customers' needs. More importantly, by the time you complete your studies, your proficiency in German would probably be so good that the language barrier wouldn't hinder you from applying to professional jobs.

4. Don't associate yourselves only with your fellow countrymen. Take advantage of the cultural diversity in your respective universities. Respect the culture of your host country and the cultural differences of your fellow students.

5. Once in a while, you might experience racial discrimination (e.g. racial slurs), gender discrimination, or sexual orientation discrimination. Remember this: In life, you will always come across idiots.

6. The first time I was traveling to study abroad in February 2012, the immigration officer who stamped my passport realized that I was traveling out of Nigeria for the first time. Then he looked at me in the eye and asked: "Who are you going there to represent?" Myself, I answered. He shook his head and said no. He asked me the same question again; I said, my parents. He shook his head again, indicating disagreement. Then he finally told me, with a wagging finger: "You are going there to represent Nigeria".

I wish all the prospective visa applicants success in their interviews. Congratulations to those who already got their visa approved. By choosing Germany, I think it is one of the best professional decisions we will make because we can invest in an excellent education – and our professional future – without paying a fortune.

See you all in Germany! And for those that chose NRW, our paths may cross!
Thank you very much. I'm inspired.

Please note that the 15% discount from the use of Emirate promo code applies to only the fare charges.
Taxes and other charges are intact.

That is why the flight fare reduces to 175k instead of around 159k.

Congratulations. But wait a minute this happens to be your very first post here, cos I can't recall seeing this name or anything close to it. honestly I must be very blunt with you, it's very much unfair. you were just consuming and never cared to give out from your wealth of knowledge. If others decide to act the way you choose to do, I wonder where you would have gotten some vital tips that have saved you quite a fortune which I believe you can attest to. The Holy Books admonish us to give, give and never stop giving.

I am saying this not just for you alone at this point, but for several others who also happens to employ this tactics. somebody here lamented bitterly about our veterans not coming back to update us with tons of valuable information, though I can't really say why, but hope we will still see more of you coming to advice the upcoming applicants who definitely need your knowledgeable guidance. Hope this won't be the very last time we will hear from you.

Congratulations once again. Go to deutschland and do great exploits.
Thank you and God bless you.
I understand your point of view. You are absolutely right.

However, If I had seen questions that were unattended to or were not answered in the right context, I would have gladly answered.

You can be rest assured you will see more of me going forward with beneficial pieces of information as they relate to my previous experience and knowledge.

Good day everyone, it's my first comment here though I started following the trend last May.
I want to appreciate everyone on the platform.
I have not experienced anything different from what I have seen here. From applications, interview, funding to receiving A.M.

I am heading to Jena, got my VISA already. The Emirate promo code works too.

God bless everyone. I strongly pray God answer those that are some few steps away from A. M and those anticipating already.

Danke.
