PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS COL. DIKIO (RTD) INTERIM AMNESTY PROGRAMME ADMINISTRATOR, DISENGAGES PROF. DOKUBO AS COORDINATOR

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Col. Milland Dixion Dikio (rtd) as Interim Administrator (Amnesty Programme) with effect from August 21, 2020.
This followed the President’s approval of the disengagement of Prof. Charles Quarker Dokubo from Office as the Coordinator, Amnesty Programme with immediate effect.

Prof. Dokubo has been directed to hand over all official matters to the most senior officer of the Programme.

President Buhari appreciated the services of Prof. Dokubo to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and wished him the best in his future endeavours.

The renowned APC singer, Dauda Kahutu Rarara was on Friday attacked by aggrieved youths in Katsina.
Katsina Post reliably gathered that some youths attacked the singer at Central Market Katsina as he was shooting a video of his latest song “JAHATA CE”.
Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu, Producer Bashir Maishadda and Tijjani Asase were together with Rarara during the attack by the hoodlums.
An eye witness revealed to our correspondent that seeing the singer while preparing for the video, the aggrieved youths started shouting, condeming the singer, while calling him names saying in hausa “Karya, Bamayi, Bama so miyarsa yake gyarawa ba kare talaka”.


Despite the singer been attached with security officers, the celebrity’s car was said to have been vandelized by the mob.
In the song “JAHATA CE”, the singer expressed dismay over the rising insecurity in the state despite most of the political actors, the president, politicians occupying key positions in the country are the indegenes of the state.

CHAIRMAN of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (a.k.a MC Oluomo) yesterday launched the collection of five million plastic bottles to break Guinness World Record.

The five million plastic bottles project is expected to be achieved in five days.

The project is in partnership with Earth Festival Nigeria.

Akinsanya said much of the plastic bottles collected would be recycled.

Besides, he said the project would keep the Lagos clean and desilt drains.

“We all know that the used plastic bottles constitute nuisance in our environment. We can actually gather them together to beautify the same environment.

‘’NURTW’s involvement is basically to take charge of the environment. We are saying that the environment is important to us and we are taking the lead to act.

“Everybody is saying keep the environment clean, we can’t just keep saying it, somebody needs to stand up and that’s what we are about to commence,” he said.

The NURTW boss said he would be happy to break the Guinness World Record held by India.

“I learnt India was able to do two million. It will be great to beat that record, hence our five million goal. Our drivers across the state have been briefed to make it a reality,” he said.

Earth Festival Nigeria Creative Director Olafemi Olabode-George said the NGO partnered the union due to their involvement on the environment. Olabode-George said four million of the plastic bottles would be recycled.

“We are partnering the Recyclers Association of Nigeria and they will be moving the four million bottles to recycle different items, such as rubber shoes, plastic chairs, nylons and some decorative items,” he said.

The remaining one million bottles, he said, would be used to build the tallest plastic bottle.

“That is going to be done by the Sculptors Association of Nigeria. We are also in partnership with them and they will be taking one million of these plastic bottles to produce the tallest structure in the world. Lagos State Parks and Gardens has donated a piece of land it will be built on,” Olabode-George said.
