PoliticsActivist Ask INEC To Disqualify Jonathan, pdp by sathel(op):
Some human rights activists have called on the
Independent National Electoral Commission to restore
sanity in the nation’s electoral system by disqualifying
President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic
Party from participating in the February 2014 general
elections.
The activists argued on Thursday that since the President
and the PDP knowingly flouted the Electoral Act which
prescribes N1bn as the maximum amount a presidential
candidate could incur on electioneering, they deserved to be
sanctioned.
The rights activists – Debo Adeniran, Lanre Suraj, Femi
Aborisade, Malachy Ugwummadu and Wale Ogunade, also
slammed the police authorities for their indifference to the
open breach of the Act.
Section 91(9) of the Act reads, “An individual or other
entity shall not donate more than N1m to any candidate.”
Sub-section 10 of the same section adds that a
presidential candidate “who knowingly acts in contravention
of this section commits an offence and on conviction is
liable to a maximum fine of N1m or imprisonment for a
term of 12 months or both.”
Section 91(2) of the same Act states that, “The maximum
election expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a
presidential election shall be N1bn.”
Adeniran, who is the Chairman of Coalition Against Corrupt
Leaders, said in an interview with The PUNCH on Thursday,
that the donation by PDP governors government agencies
and public agencies to the Jonathan campaign war chest
was distasteful.
According to him, their action ran contrary to the call by the
Federal Government on Nigerians to brace for austerity
measures.
The anti-corruption campaigner also pointed out that the
donation by players in the power sector amounted to
forcing Nigerians who had been made to pay for electricity
they were not provided with, to donate to Jonathan’s re-
election bid.
He said, “The donation of over N21bn is a demonstration of
immorality in government. This is a clear violation of the
Electoral Act that specifies just N1bn for expenditure in
campaigns. Then that many of those who donated are
government agencies accentuates the recklessness and
impunity that governs the minds of our rulers.
“In a country where the government is asking the people to
tighten their belts, its agencies are donating several
millions of naira.
“These also included the people in the power sector who
have not been able to supply electricity which the people
have paid for. This is to say that people are being forced to
contribute to the campaign of the incumbent regime and
that is another level of immorality.
“INEC needs to bar Jonathan and his party from
participating in the general elections next year because they
knowingly contravened the law governing elections in the
country.”
He also challenged the Independent Corrupt Practices and
Other-Related Offences Commission to investigate the
breach.
“It is not direct robbery that the police can intervene without
being invited. It is the duty of the ICPC to set up the Anti-
Corruption and Transparency Unit that has the mandate to
call to question, all the authorities that are violating
transaction and procurement rules like it is being
perpetrated by Jonathan and his political party.
“We expect the ICPC to move to check these financial
shenanigans. The ICPC does not need a petition before
they could act.”
On his part, Aborisade argued that since the police
authorities were fully represented at the PDP dinner/fund-
raiser on Saturday, they did not require any report or
invitation from any quarter to commence investigation.
He said the police “should not give us the impression that
they are only there to protect the interest of the ruling party
at the centre.”
“They are to investigate and prosecute crimes committed
against the law of Nigeria. The 1999 Constitution and the
electoral law have been breached and the police are
empowered to so act,” Aborisade, who is also a lawyer
added.
While he made reference to section 4 of the Police Act to
corroborate his stance, he advised INEC to go ahead and
disqualify Jonathan and the PDP .
He said, “They are part and parcel of the Nigerian society.
They are fully aware. The police were well represented at
the donation. They witnessed it and they do not require any
other form of report from anybody. It is public knowledge
and they ought to have acted appropriately.
“But not only the police, even INEC ought to disqualify PDP
from presenting a candidate and ought to disqualify the
candidate of the PDP because they have flouted, in a very
disgraceful and condemnable manner, the Electoral Act.
“I think the INEC should introduce sanity into the Electoral
process because with that kind of donation, they are merely
saying they can induce every voter so that they can win the
2015 election.
“Our elections should not be monetised; they should be
based on issues or ideas that can uplift the lot of our
people as contained in the constitution.”
Also, Ugwummadu lamented that the donation had
demonstrated that “Nigeria has now become a huge theatre
of absurdity and one in which clear criminal actions and
activities have now worn a garb of comedy.”
He said, “On the day of the donation which was streamed
live on the television, I personally called the leadership of
several law enforcement agencies in this country to tell
them that they don’t need a complainant to begin to arrest
those people who were donating.
“And the fact that the arrest didn’t happen, even as I knew it
would not happen, clearly describes the poverty of the
situation we find ourselves which is indeed hopeless.
“We are now at the last bus stop before anarchy – that bus
stop where 18-year-old girls are now enrolled as suicide
bombers in legions; where crimes and criminalities are
perpetrated with impunity and encouraged by the ruling
political party.”
The activist advised INEC to disqualify the PDP and
Jonathan from participating in the elections as “they have
been involved in a clear case of criminality. source;

PoliticsI'll Meet With Other Generals To Solve Insurgency- Buhari by sathel(op): 5:47am On Dec 25, 2014
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday said that though Nigeria is a rich nation, its people are extremely poor due to bad governance.
He also promised to involve serving and retired military generals to devise an effective strategy to crush insurgency in the country, if elected as President in 2015.

Buhari, in his Christmas goodwill message signed by the Director of Communications, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr. Dele Alake, expressed displeasure at the security challenges in the country and the poor state of Nigerian roads.

He said his administration would focus on how best to “make the condition of living of the common man the index for the assessment of our policies and not the amount of billionaires our administration would have made.”
Buhari felicitated with Christians in the country as they celebrated Christmas, assuring Nigerians that they would have better reasons to celebrate the festival if he is elected in 2015.

He said, “On my part, I intend to initiate consultations with serving generals and those who have served our country and distinguished themselves on the battlefield across the world to work out an alternative and effective strategy to crush this insurgency within the shortest possible time if elected president on February 14, 2015.

“I have said that I live the life of a pensioner. I share the burden and anxiety of majority of our poor, powerless people. I have offered myself on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the party of change, because I desire to give back to a country that clothed, fed and trained me to be what I am today. Our people are poor. But our country is rich.”

The former Head of State, who berated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration over rising poverty in the country, said, “In a nation where a few individuals could raise N21bn because they wanted to make their friend President, millions of citizens, who truly own the resources being accumulated by a few, are left to suffer in sorrow, tears and blood.

Buhari said while many Nigerians travelling towards the eastern part of the country would encounter “the failed promises of the Second Niger Bridge;” those travelling through the South-West would “have to bear the gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

He noted that millions of Nigerians would celebrate the Christmas season in poverty and misery because “the system of production and distribution of national resources has been rigged against the vast majority of our people.”
He said, “We promise that, by Christmas 2015, our administration would have brought out efficiency in management and allocation of public resources to make the inter-state roads smoother and easier to ride.

“Christmas is a season when we all embark on journeys to join our brothers and sisters in our native towns to hold town hall meetings, inaugurate community projects and exercise our cultural rights.

“This year’s celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises peace, love and togetherness to mankind. It reminds us, once again, of the exemplary life of Jesus Christ and the ordinary yet spectacular circumstances of His birth. His life enjoins all of us to follow his path by offering to sacrifice our selfish desires for the good of our country and mankind in general. This event, however, is taking place at a period of serious security challenges across the length and breadth of our dear country.

“The right to life, guaranteed by our constitution, is under savage assault. The stories of murder in the print and electronic media make you shiver to the bones. The daredevilry of the Godless Boko Haram, which penetrated battle lines in the North-East to commit suicidal blasts in the north central capital cities of Bauchi and Gombe, demonstrates the crucial need to review the military strategy of our defence forces.”

Buhari also promised to initiate policies that would ensure the empowerment of the masses, adding that his presidential ambition was borne out of the need to alleviate poverty and establish a system where the rule of law prevails.
He added, “Certainly, there will be changes in policies. We cannot continue to enslave our country to those who tell us that we are in economic crises because of loans.”

PoliticsJonathan Greets Nigerians, promises Free And Fair Election In 2015 by sathel(op): 5:28am On Dec 25, 2014
President Goodluck Jonathan on
Wednesday wished Nigerians a merry
Christmas and promised that his
administration would give security agencies
the necessary support to ensure that the
2015 general elections are violence-free.
The President said the Independent
National Electoral Commission would be
given the necessary assistance to conduct
free, fair and credible elections.
Jonathan said this in his Christmas message
to Nigerians, copies of which was made
available to journalists in Abuja.
To ensure peace before, during and after
the elections, the President called on all
politicians to ensure that they conduct
issue-based campaigns ahead of the
elections.
He said, “We are also celebrating this
Christmas against the background of
preparations for next year’s general
elections.
“I seize this opportunity to reassure the
nation that my administration will give the
Independent National Electoral Commission
all necessary support to ensure that it
delivers very free, fair, credible and
acceptable elections in 2015.
“National security agencies will also be
given all necessary support to enhance their
ability to ensure that the elections which
should strengthen democracy in our
country are peaceful and violence free.
“I urge our political class to be law- abiding
and place the greater interests of our
nation above all personal or sectional
interests in the countdown to the elections.
“Let us all be more statesman-like, conduct
issues-based campaigns, and eschew the
promotion of falsehood, division and
hatred of others as we seek the votes of
our countrymen in what should be a
peaceful competition among contending
points of view for the progress and
development of our dear nation.”
The President said all Nigerians should offer
special prayers for a greater manifestation
of divine peace in the country.
He also asked for prayers for all those who
have suffered and continue to suffer
hardship, deprivation and death at the
hands of terrorists and insurgents.
His statement read further, “Let us also
continue to pray for our gallant soldiers and
security agents who remain at the forefront
of the national effort to overcome terrorism
and violent extremism, even as the rest of
the nation celebrates Christmas and the
coming New Year.
“In this season of goodwill, I urge all
patriotic Nigerians to rededicate themselves
to doing all within their powers to support
the brave men and women of our armed
forces in the ongoing war against
terrorism, and also support the Federal
Government’s efforts to provide more
succour to the hapless victims of terrorist
atrocities.
“The Victims’ Support Fund which we have
established to raise additional funds to
assist our compatriots who have been
adversely affected by continuing insecurity
in parts of our country remains active.
“I call on all individuals and corporate
organisations who have not yet done so, to
donate more generously to the Fund which
is being efficaciously deployed to ease the
sufferings of victims of terrorist violence in
the country.”
The President urged Christians and non-
Christians alike to reflect deeply on the
virtues and ideals which Jesus Christ
espoused during his earthly mission.
He said the internalisation of the virtues of
love for fellowmen, tolerance, Godliness,
honesty, fairness to others, selflessness, and
peaceful co-existence with others by all
adult Nigerians, and the inculcation of the
same in youths, would help the country to
overcome most of its present challenges. Source;www.punchng.com

PoliticsObanikoro Makes U Turn, Promise To Work With Jimi Agbaje by sathel(op): 5:27am On Dec 24, 2014
The immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has said he will work with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress.

Obanikoro had been engaged in a war of words with Agbaje and a leader of the PDP in the state, Chief Bode George, over the party’s controversial governorship primary.

Obanikoro had also sued the party for not attending to a petition he wrote over the party’s conduct of the primary which he described as a sham.

However, the Director-General, Koro Campaign Organisation, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, told our correspondent on the telephone that President Goodluck Jonathan had intervened in the feud.

He said part of the terms of the agreement reached with the President was that Obanikoro would be given a senior ministerial slot and not minister of state which is a junior ministerial position.

He said, “We have listened to the President’s appeal and have decided to settle out of court. Obanikoro will return as a minister but part of the terms is that he will be given a full ministerial position. We were told that he would head a ministry but we were not told what ministry in particular.

“He will help the President to campaign in Lagos and we will also work with Agbaje. We are willing to work with Chief Bode George and we will reconcile with the party.”

The development comes less than 24 hours after the PDP South-West chairman, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, called on the PDP leadership to ensure that aggrieved aspirants in the state were appeased because Lagos could determine who wins the presidential elections.

He had said, “When Ayodele Fayose emerged as the candidate of the PDP in Ekiti, we went to beg all other aspirants in their houses to ensure that we got victory in all the 16 local governments in Ekiti. You cannot win it all alone.”

Reacting to the development, a former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, said the PDP was one big family and that he would work with Obanikoro.

“We are party elders. If Obanikoro apologises, we will accept his apology. Our priority is winning Lagos,” he said.

With a voting population of over six million, it is believed that the person who emerges as the winner of the presidential election next year would be largely determined by the outcome of the election in Lagos State.

Party sources told our correspondent that the need to win most of Lagos votes was what prompted the reconciliatory meeting.

Christianity EtcSPIRIT HUSBAND..A Reality Or Just A Joke by sathel(op): 4:42pm On Dec 21, 2014
I attend the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries where we are always taught about the mystery of the spirit husbands/wife but i was bamboozled when i was listening to pastor chris ojigbani of covenant christian center on STV this afternoon as he was preaching against it..he was like"Speaking with many people, online and in real life, it is becoming apparent to me how deep the twin trick of the enemy has taken root in the Christian community.
Spirit husband or spirit wife? Ever heard of it? Most Nigerian Christians have. I am thinking now that all people exposed to Pentecostal/evangelical messages from Nigeria have heard this taught or mentioned or “testified” about.
I am beginning to think that this trick of the enemy is the leading cause of separation, divorce, and delayed marriage in the body of Christ where this fable is taught. Yes, it is a fable.
Many people teach about spirit husband and wife. They teach that when a woman or man has such a spirit that the person will not succeed in marriage in real life. But they are all in error. It's a trick of the devil. There's no scriptural basis for such a teaching. There's no such thing in the Bible. Demons don't have sex. The spirit husband/wife teaching is a complete make-believe story – from the start of it to its end, there is no truth to it.
Why? Spirits don’t marry. Jesus Christ said so. Since there is no such thing as spirit wife or spirit husband, there is therefore no such thing as spirit children. Spirits don’t have sex. God created sex for procreation – “multiply and fill the earth” – sex is an earthly activity. Spirits don’t procreate.
Marriage was created in the Garden of Eden for man and woman – human beings. Before Adam found Eve, there was no marriage in creation. So angels who predate man don’t marry.
You can’t be married to someone without knowing it. There is no way you can be married to a demon. Just no way!
But, we hear stories of people saying they had it and testifying of being delivered of it?
People make up stories and relay them to other people. It’s a game of the mind. If a person that one thinks is a man of God tells him consistently that he has a spirit wife. And the man of God in question comes across as one who has deep spiritual insights, and the person believes that he has a spirit wife. Then, symptoms of those who have spirit wife according to what he has been taught would become more prominent in his mind. And because he believes there is something like spirit wife and that he has it, he will begin to think on those things and then create those things in his life. So if that person is taken through a series of activities called “deliverance” and the person is then told that he has been delivered that the spirit wife has left him. The symptoms may cease and then he would testify of being delivered.
Then why do people have sex in the dream and sometimes they wake up with “evidence” of sex on them?
An understanding of what a dream is would explain why such things happen. Check out the “Trick of Dreams" teaching by Pastor Chris Ojigbani.
Those physical manifestations are body fluids of the dreamer. A demon cannot be touched or felt as such a demon cannot have sex. Demons don't have physical bodies. Demons are fallen angels. Jesus Christ said that angels don't marry.
People could have sex in the dream because:
1. They think about sex before they go to bed;
2. They fill their thoughts with sex during the day or they have strong desires for a loved one whom they have not seen for some time;
3. They watched a film of people being intimate;
4. They have abstained from sex for a long time;
5. They saw someone they are attracted to and began to desire the person;
6. MOST PRIME - They heard that they have spirit husband or wife and because the teacher of this fairly tale story told them that someone who has spirit husband or wife is visited in the dream for sex by the spirit.
It’s a two-fold problem. The second aspect of it is the trick of deliverance. Because spirit husband or spirit wife is a demon. The person is told that he or she needs deliverance and taken through a series of activities for this deliverance. This fable sends Christians out on wild goose chase seeking to be delivered from something that does not exist.
This is not a joking matter. I know many people that have sown wedding gowns and bought wedding bands to return to the spirit husband and taken through series of useless events including bathing in a river in the name of divorcing from spirit husband. The devil is so wicked.
There are some deliverance merchants out there who specialize in diagnosing spirit husbands and wives. “I don’t feel love for my husband anymore.” “You have spirit husband.” “Nobody proposes marriage to me.” “You have spirit husband.” “My husband is having an affair.” “You have spirit husband.” he gave me money in my dream-is spirit husband CBN''He's even selling some books now that reveals against it....SOURCE:STV (let discuss abt it plz)..
