Business › Re: Gtbank Is A Fraud - A Nairalander Shares Experience by sayemma: 9:55pm On Oct 05, 2016 |
Oshoboy01: One of the so-called Nigerian Leading bank, Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Is currently performing an act that could be best described as stealing by trick. A lot of people have been complaining about this and this has even happened to me several times but the latest one really touched me to my marrow. Firstly, i opened an e-savers account with GTBank some years back and it was said to be a ZERO-ACCOUNT, No hidden charges, No SMS alert fee, No email notification fee, everything is free, and because i was a student then, i decided to open one and it was rosy. i even recommended GTB For anyone who says he or she wants to open a Bank account, i even go as far as taking the person to the entrance of the bank to make sure the person goes there, that was how passionate and loving i was for GTBank. It was a sweet experience. However, things began to turn sour when i got to know i can't perform any internet banking transaction without collecting a token which costs N2,200, around that amount sha. I was surprise but when they explained to me that it was for security reasons, i opted in too and was enjoying technology, not knowing i was just being milked little by little, then i misplaced the token. On getting to bank, they said i'll pay the same amount as when i bought it at first, but why should it be Is it not to just renew it ? but i had no choice o, i bought it again. Then the worst came, i bought the token the second time because i wanted to purchase a form online but shockingly, my technological token didn't work ooo,i complained at the GTB Customer Service, they told me nothing is wrong with my account and that it's only network issues. My people, i tried for more than a week but it didn't work, na Interswitch o, the main reason i bought the token was because of this form, but it didn't work, rendering my over 2,000 useless so i had to borrow a friends UBA Account and that one ehn, they just sent a code to the guy's number and that was all. Secondly, there's a latest one now and it is deducting a certain amount of money at the end of the month and say i'm being charged for Different Customers (SI ACCOUNT), abeg what does that mean? i sent mails to them but they only gave me one yeye reply that my request has been saved with one stupid ID, the only thing i think could cause this is transfers and the funny thing is whenever i do a transfer, they deduct 100 naira and Five naira for what i don't even know about so what am i being charge for at the end of the month, am i paying them salary?? Thirdly, this one happened to me today. I sent an amount of over N20,000 to a friends account but he got just 10,000 from the money and bank has already closed by the time i was informed, it's really sick of them and they even have less experienced customer services.
on this Note, i say GTB IS A FRAUD, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES!!! LETS SHOW THEM Gtbank and zenith bank are same when it comes to illegal deductions, zenith is the worst as they charge cot on savings account when you are transferring to other bank... So sad |

Subsidy removal: NLC blasts Buhari, vows to shut down economyBy Emmanuel Uzodinma on May 11, 2016 image86 Contrary to government’s claims that the organized labour was part of the agreement for the total removal of fuel subsidy, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Wednesday described the development “as an act of insensitivity and impunity”. The NLC in a statement by Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, General Secretary, said; “The unilateral increase in prices of petroleum products today by government represents the height of insensitivity and impunity and shall be resisted by the Nigeria Labour Congress and its civil society allies.
“With the imposition on the citizenry of criminal and unjustifiable electricity tariff and resultant darkness and other economic challenges brought on by the devaluation of the Naira and spiraling inflation, the least one had expected at this point in time was another policy measure that would further make life more miserable for the ordinary Nigerian.
“The latest increase is the most audacious and cruel in the history of product price increase as It represents not only about 80 per cent increase but it is tied to the black market exchange rate.
“Furthermore, the process through which government arrived at this is both illogical and illegal as the board of the PPPRA is not duly constituted. In our previous statements and communiques, we had stressed the need for reconstituting the boards of NNPC and PPPRA and wean both away from the overbearing influence of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources who has assumed the role of a Sole Administrator. The allusion to the fact that the this increase was arrived at after due consultation with stake holders is not only ridiculous and fallacious, it goes to show that the brief meeting held today during which government was advised to shelve the idea until at least it meets with the appropriate organs of the Congress was in bad faith.
“Accordingly, we urge the government to revert the prices to what they were. We would want to put everybody on notice that we shall resist this criminal increase with every means legitimate.
“Already an emergency NEC meeting has been scheduled for Friday, May 13, 2016 to decide on the next line of action. Meanwhile, our affiliates, state councils and civil society allies are requested to commence mobilization immediately.” |

Politics › Re: Senators Give Terms For Confirming Ministers by sayemma: 1:52pm On Oct 07, 2015 |
There is no constitution provision on the numbers of ministers the president can decide to work with only 10 ministers byrron: • May reject incomplete list, screen Buhari for petroleum slot • To refer corruption petitions against nominees to EFCC, ICPC
AS the Senate today, unveils the ministerial list it received from President Muhammadu Buhari last Thursday, some senators have provided insight into how the screening and confirmation of nominees would be done.
Some of them, who spoke on the terms and conditions that would guide the screening at the National Assembly yesterday hinted that the upper legislative chamber would adopt stringent measures in line with the provisions of the Constitution.
The senators made it clear that any list that does not cover the 36 states of the Federation will meet serious opposition on the floor.
A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senator, representing Abia North, Mao Ohuabunwa, said the list of ministerial nominees is expected to be complete in line with the Constitution.
“The Constitution does not support appointment of ministers in batches. Every state must be represented but if the number is not complete, some of us may raise constitutional issues. If we have to wait for another three months for him to send another list comprising representatives of other states, it means those states would be non-functional,” he said.
On petitions against some nominees, Ohuabunwa noted such issues would not be ignored in the process of screening.
According to him, since the present administration of All Progressives Congress (APC) would want to be remembered for curbing corruption, it would be counter-productive to overlook any allegations of corruption leveled against any nominee.
He said: “This government would want to be remembered for fighting corruption and so, it will be unacceptable that the Senate sees a strong petition alleging corruption and ignores it.
“Even if it means writing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to give us a report, we will do so.”
According to him, screening is not a tea party and only trusted nominees with serious and in-depth knowledge would be confirmed.
On the issue of usual style of asking some nominees to ‘take a bow and go,’ Ohuabunwa said it was assumed that the upper chamber would be guided by the Constitution and the rules of the Senate.
“We have resolved to be stringent. Whosoever would be coming should be someone who has a track record. Being a former lawmaker shows you are qualified but you will still be expected to answer some questions,” he stated.
He added that though senators or governors may not have made input in the nomination, the screening would nevertheless be done in accordance with the laws of the federation.
“We may not have made input in the appointment, the screening would be done in accordance with the law and if any nominee has any skeleton in his cupboard, we will send him back to the President,” he said.
Speaking on a report that the President might want to be the Minister of Petroleum, Ohuabunwa said: “He can supervise ministries but cannot be a minister because if he is, he must be screened and approved by the Senate.”
The Chairman of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye had said that the screening of ministerial nominees will not be business as usual.
Dino had said: “In our screening of ministers, it will not be business as usual. The era of take a bow and go is over. The right people will be made ministers without any political or religious considerations.”

How will a cct member speak on condition of anonymity... another fake story. We are waiting for Oct 23 chukwudi44: Saraki’s Trial: CCB Member Says Chairman Breached Bureau’s Procedure, Acted On His Own
A member of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has faulted the agency’s action against Senate President Bukola Saraki, saying that the entire trial was needless and in contradiction with the process stipulated in the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
According to Vanguard, the CCB member who spoke on condition of anonymity noted that the Section of the Act was not complied with before the Senate President was charged before the tribunal. “If it had been complied with, the man will probably not even need to get to court at all, even if he committed all we are charging him with. Once he admits the inconsistency and regularize them.”
The member further said that if the Bureau had followed the provision of Section 3(d) of its own law, it will not rush to trial, but invite Saraki to come and defend whatever inconsistency or infraction that may have been discovered in his asset declarations, adding that the normal procedure according to Section 3(d) of the Act was that the Bureau should set up a committee to determine whether an infraction has been committed by any public officer after submitting his/her asset declaration forms.
Section 3(d) of the CCB Act states that: “The functions of the Bureau shall be ….to receive complaints about non-compliance with or breach of this Act and where the Bureau considers it necessary to do so, refer such complaints to the Code of Conduct Tribunal established by Section 20 of this Act in accordance with Section 20 to 25 of this Act.
“Provided that where the person concerned makes a written admission of such breach or non-compliance, no reference to the Tribunal shall be necessary.”
The Vanguard source recalled that it is this same refusal to follow procedure stipulated in his own law that led to the collapse of the case filed by the Bureau against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2011, adding that members who observed this anomaly were dissatisfied with the unilateral action of the CCB chairman, Mr. Sam Saba who did not consult with other members before referring the matter to the tribunal.
