Am beginning to wonder what should be the EFFECTIVE daily ACTIVITY OF A WEB DEVELOPER!
Lets take a look at these 2 typical scenerio:

(1) YOU get a web design job . u execute it and smile to the bank. NOW SOMEBODY (HACKER) SOMEWHERE does not like your FACE or that of ur CLIENTS and decides to cause you harm (hack) the site.

(2) You EXECUTE the Job and EVERYODY is happy! No threaths from ANYONE and life goes ON. Now ur job is to maintain the site and make sure NOTHNG Bad technically is happening at the background (server issues and co).

AS a web developer who wants to stay in business and not damage HiS/HER reputation. What measures SHOULD be taken against the ABOVE TWO SCENERIO? - TECHNCALLY (backup,etc ,

Since yesterday afternoon all my clients sites have been down. I just put a call through to smarweb now. They recently upgraded their server and just finished installing the firewall settings this MORNING. Lets see what happens by the end of today. I just hope its not gong to be bad as it was late last year/early this year. keeping my fingers crossed!

For a client, with the above example load specification, we recommend the 800VA inverter and one battery. NOTE that if you require more batteries , the better for longer time duration. Also the less the LOAD, the longer the duration. You may buy higher KVA for future load requirement if need be.
For clients who would like to use AC, FREEZER, HEATER, MICROWAVE and other hig power appliances, you will have to go for the higher KV's AND more batteries. But why would you want to use an AC when there is no light. We always advise: when you are using alternative source of energy-you must be CONSERVATIVE. 1 horsepower AC=746 WATTS. For ONLY the AC, you dedicate the 2.5KVA and about 4 batteries. Who says enjoyment is not expensive.

If you are not sure of your load calculation and inverter to go with it, you may call us for inspection (this attracts some fee depending on location and requirements-average N5,000).

For the above example load(495watts), the total cost would be:
Inverter =N40,000 (800VA ie 640watts)
battery(1/ more)=N26,000/100AH) or N50,000/200AH. 200AH gives double time duration COMPARED to the 100AH
Installation cost : depends on type of connection and materials required) minimum of N15,000.

I hope the above is fair enough.
NOTE:
800VA=640WATTS
1.5KVA=1200WATTS
2.5KVA-2000WATTS
SIMPLY MULTIPLY THE VALUE IN KVA BY 0.8 E.G (1.5KVA=1500X0.8=1200WATTS)

@badesemowo thanks i only knew of the tp=1 hack but not the admin folder! Coming to think of it that's really a lot of work considering there are a large number of components and modules that when installed depend on files in the administrator folder. One will have to go through lots of files especially for a large site changing the file path in the scripts. When it comes to updating components and modules instead of the few clicks upgrade u still have to go through the "painful process" again! Cheesy

Well its actually not that hard.
Joomla defines the component folder and administrative folder by a global variable:
JPATH_COMPONENT , JPATH_ADMINISTRATOR
so you just have to change it in one place.

except ofcourse kid developers that point to the administrative path absolutely.

and most upgrades can be done by just overwritting the adminstrative directory, where ever it is.

the only thing is why bother if you are not working for a bank, or government.

this is one way of knowing any site deliverd with joomla and u might not want to reveal that.
