Have you considered homeschooling?
EducationRe: Teaching A Child Who Won't Focus -is It Worth The Stress. by scholarsdo: 11:25am On Feb 02
This seems like a typical teaching issue. My advice to the teacher is to consider the other learning styles in each class. Incorporate visual, audiovisual, and tactile teaching methodologies. One of these would definitely have an effect.

Otherwise, the child may have a special learning situation and the parents may need to see a specialist.

I agree with you. Parents are allowed to decide what they want for their children. Perhals the parents can provide a white pair of socks for the child to change into when they get to class so they can align with the dress code.

From the comments, I must say our understanding of education is queer. I admire these parents.

They are managing their income and shouldn’t buy a cardigan for 12500 (I just put price shaa) when they can get it for 2400 and it serves the purpose.

They can’t pass through unwarranted stress washing socks daily when the child can use black. Rules are made for humans, not the other way around. I stand with the parents.

Hi Kindhearted.
I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Is your child good at other things like drawing?
Does your child enjoy doing things with his hands?
Is your child good at role-play and drama?

Your child might just be a tactile learner.
Tactile learners can only assimilate and remember things when they do them with their hands. Think painting, colouring, gardening, building, and science practicals.

And you should invest in activity books or hands-on learning sessions. Check out this book "Problem Solving and Critical Thinking Activity Book" by Miss Sumayyah. You should also engage him in online games like Kahoot, Prodigy Math, ScholarsDo, etc.

There has been extensive research done on learners like your boy. They make the best artists, scientists, and engineers.

Your child is not slow, he just learns differently.
EducationRe: Over-working Our Kids In The Name Of Education. by scholarsdo: 10:57am On Feb 02
Hi Pope Success. I don't think the eras can be compared to one another. There is so much more information and a lot more to prepare kids for in today's world. Diction classes, science has had more breakthroughs, and we now have to teach kids coding in Primary school. Also, teaching methods are changing. You were an outlier who succeeded at the traditional learning methods but i'm sure you can remember many kids who were branded 'olodo'. Trust me, it seems like they are not developing any important skills but in my school, we prioritise PSHE, HSE, and design tech skills. Children need to know more about the world now to be able to compete globally.
Popesuccess:
From primary 1 to SS 3, i never stayed in school till 2pm. And i still passed WAEC & JAMB. Today most of our kids come home from school by 3, 4 or 5pm, in the name of school lessons. They come home with about 3 to 6 home works. In my opinion, this is to much for this children, why should a primary school learners be doing 16 subjects? Some parents will still have house lessons for their children after the school lesson, no time to play or rest. Some them will graduate with good grades but without any social skills to succeed in our tough society.

I'm sorry you're going through this. You can help your child make learning more fun with some digital apps.
