RomanceSeven Things You’ll Relate To If You Struggle To Save In Nigeria by ScottDM1(op):
It’s good to save; you know that, we know that, everyone knows that. But, sometimes your bank account and financial needs are in a constant feud and you’re always in the middle. You want to save, but you also want to spend and chill, because you really didn’t come to this world to suffer.

Here are seven things you’ll relate to if this is always happening to you:

1. CALCULATING EVERY KOBO IN TEARS BECAUSE YOU KNOW AN EMERGENCY WILL ALWAYS COME UP AND YOU’LL NEED TO SPEND IT.
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Sos-1.png
The emergency comes in many forms; buying that bag you’ve been eyeing for weeks, repairing a bad charger, buying aso-ebi for a best friend’s wedding, buying that new phone that just came out because it’s more superior to the one you got a month ago, etc.

2. TGIF AND THE MINISTRY OF ENJOYMENT
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Sos-2.png
Sometimes, you’re disciplined enough to hold yourself from doing too much. Other times, you’re home on a Friday night, on your own browsing through Instagram. That’s when you see your mates are doing TGIF and chopping the life of their head — essentially tensioning you. It’s in that moment you’ll remember the small savings you have stashed away in the kolo under your bed, and how the money will not spend itself. So, you finally say yes to going out with your friends for the weekend after they’ve been hounding you for the past two weeks.

3. YOU THINK OF SAVING, BUT END UP CHANTING “I CAN’T COME AND KILL MYSELF” AS YOU EAT THE LAST MEAT IN THE POT
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Sos-3-300x170.png
No lean diet for a rainy tomorrow. You want instant gratification NOW and you’ve got to put your money where your mouth is.

4. BUYING FOOD INSTEAD OF COOKING, DESPITE THE PROMISES YOU MADE TO YOURSELF
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Sos-4-300x132.gif
You told yourself you’d only eat the food you cook, why waste money buying lunch when there are groceries at home? When you’re an excellent chef and can whip a better Jollof rice than any buka or restaurant. That was a week ago. Now, you’re looking at the remaining chicken bone in the plate of food you ordered while crying on the inside. Well, at least, you won’t have to wash the disposable plates; at least, you saved up on soap

5. WHEN YOU READ ALL THE ARTICLES ABOUT SAVING BUT STILL CAN’T GET YOURSELF TO DO SO
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/sos-5.gif-300x167.png
It’s just so much work: you work hard to make money, why not spend it anyhow you want?

6. ALL THOSE BILLS.
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/sos-6-300x167.gif
Because, this is Nigeria, look how we living now. The prices of things go up astronomically, inexplicably and without adequate warning. NEPA will bring their own, LAWMA will bring their own, your service provider will bring their own and so on, so why are you bothering to save sef?

7. CAN’T STICK TO A BUDGET, CAN’T STICK TO A SAVINGS GOAL, CAN’T STICK TO ANYTHING…
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/sos-7.gif
It was your New Year’s resolution to save more. But you’ve long forgotten that now. You really tried to be good and improve your saving culture but everything keeps working against you.

FamilyPregnant 20 Year Old In A Polyamorous Relationship: To Raise Baby With 4 Dads by ScottDM1(op): 1:31pm On Dec 06, 2019
A pregnant 20-year-old lady who is in a polyamorous relationship with four men is planning to raise her baby with all her lovers.

Tory Ojeda who lives with her partners in Jacksonville, Florida, began the polyamorous relationship three years ago.

The mum-to-be who is seven- months pregnant met one of her partners Marc, 18, in high school and then got into a relationship with Travis, 23, two months later.

Back in July, she announced her engagement to Travis before falling in love with their long-term mutual friend Ethan, 22, and Christopher, 22, who is the baby's father.

Speaking to Barcroft TV, she said: “Chris is the biological father. We just know that because of timing and when the approximate conception date was.

https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/4-Dads-1-560x344.png

“Based off of the approximate conception day, we had been on vacation. So it was only us.

“But as far as I guess, socially goes, we're all raising the baby together, so everyone's dad.

“We’re all very, very excited to be raising a baby together.”

During the interview, she also said her boyfriends are “welcome” to pursue other people if they wish to.

“Honestly, I would love it if somebody found a second partner.

“Dividing time and figuring out schedules between all five people and making sure everyone feels included, it’s kind of difficult.

“I’d like to not be the only woman in the relationship. That would definitely be nice.”

On how they get intimate, she said they all have their own bedrooms but her partners “swap in and out” of her bed, each night, making sure each of them gets an “equal turn” in spending the night with her.

On the issue of jealousy, Ethan said: “There are a couple of healthy ways to deal with it. Primarily just talking to each other.”

She added: “There's always going to be like little moments of jealousy, it does take a certain amount of restraint and just getting relaxed. I will say it helps if you know the person.”

Reflecting on his own experiences in his current relationship, he said: “Seeing [Tory] with Ethan was a lot easier because I was friends with him.

“Her and Chris was a bit dicier at first, there was a lot more jealousy and I'll openly admit that. The same goes for Marc because I'd never interacted with them.”

When asked how he feels about sharing the responsibilities of being a father, Christopher said: “It’s definitely a little interesting.

“I grew up with the idea of you know, one dad, one mum. But there is a lot of support between all of us dads and it’s something we can tag team.
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/4-Dads-2-300x168.png

“We always joke about the idea of getting stack in an endless loop of go ask your dad.”

On what her family and friends think about her relationship, Tory said: “Most of my friends know all my partners and they love us and think that we’re cute and such. My family is kind of quiet about their disapproval.

“Polyamory is definitely an uncommon thing.

“A lot of people have grown up in monogamy culture of, you don't really love someone if you have eyes for somebody else.”

Christopher added: “My family is slowly coming around to the idea. The pregnancy has helped with that. But at the very beginning, I know my mother and father were hesitant about it.

“Her main concern was that she didn't like the idea of me having a partner who was not fulfilled with me alone.”

However, Ethan’s family are “very active” in their support, along with Tory’s older brother, Alistair.

Alistair said: “I will admit that since I'm her older brother, that I just have that tendency I suppose to be protective.

“I'm more so concerned that she's happy, that she is in a relationship where they both love each other mutually or in this case more people love each other mutually.

“I don’t see anything wrong with Tory’s relationship.”
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/4-Dads-5-300x169.png

On the reaction, she gets from people about the bizarre relationship, she said: “We definitely get weird looks”

“I’ve had people just say rude comments when we've just been hanging out at a fast food place.

“I've been called a hoe more than once.

“Maybe in our future, we might see it become a common thing where people don't bat an eye on it anymore at all. One can hope.”

CrimeThese Safety Tips Will Keep You Safe At Night by ScottDM1(op):
Embarking on a night journey or even moving about at night isn’t ideal for a responsible individual as the night comes with a few perks and a whole lot of dangers attached to it. Most especially now that the greedy individuals are taking up anything and doing every ritual practice just to ‘make-it’.

These Tips will help you stay safe at Night (in Nigeria):

1- Be Back Home Before 8 pm:
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Clock-1-300x300.png
I do understand that we Nigerians are very hard-working and we must hustle hard to be able to afford whatever might be our desire, but our safety shouldn’t be in jeopardy and should be our topmost priority. To be on the safer side, make sure you’re back from your workplace before or at most; 8 pm as there’s currently an increase in the number of rape cases, night robbery and missing-persons report.

2- Stop Operating Your Phone On The Road:
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Lady-Pressing-Phone-1-300x199.png

There are people who are fond of chatting anywhere they find themselves and easily lose safety consciousness whenever they log on Social Media, if you’re one of them, then you need to stop. I’ve done that in the past and no longer do such now as I’ve heard a lot of stories revealing how people got robbed off their phone and properties while unconsciously operating their Phones on the road. Sometime last year, I read the story of a lady who got robbed off her phone while operating it on a moving bike. Whenever it’s late and you’re moving out at night, either leave your Internet Enabled Device at home or in your bag, as the case may be. You can move out with only a small phone for emergency.

3- Follow Through Busy Areas/Streets:
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Busy-Area-1-300x190.png

Petty-criminals hardly operate in a busy area as they’re scared of being caught and what might befall them afterwards, so it’s highly advised you always pass through busy area’s when going out at night.

4- Talk Aloud When Stopped By A Thug:
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Thug-1-300x224.png

Whenever you’re walking at night and get cornered or accosted by a Street Thug, answer aloud when being engaged in a conversation so as to draw the attention of people nearby. This is advisable as I was once accosted by a thug on my way home from work, He was in a shade signalling me to come in, I feigned a phone call while walking away. The next thing he did was to follow me in a fast pace which made me stop. He began by feigning anger which I in-turn feigned my own anger (as a sharp guy) asking why he was calling me knowing that I was on call and if we had a business relationship that prompted the call….. Mehn! E no easy that day oo…. I was talking on top of my voice while he was low which drew the attention of passer-by's who began looking our way. He asked me to come into the shade for a discussion which I blatantly refused and then he walked away from me…. Till date, he no longer stops me anywhere…… Do you see the Scope? He bin wan corner me!

5- Find A Safe Harbor When It’s Too Late
https://i0.wp.com/www.boxacademy.site/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Church-premise-1-300x196.png

If you ever travel far away from home and not yet back around 9 pm, it’s highly advised you sleep over there or if you aren’t comfortable sleeping over, I suggest you find a safe and receptive harbour like a Church or Mosque (depending on your religion) as you’re safer in there than on the street.

A few weeks back, I travelled to see a business partner but we ended the meeting very late at night. My Partner offered me to sleep over as it was almost 10 Pm, but I declined the offer thinking I could make it home before 11 Pm. I waited to board a bus heading straight to my city but found none, so I boarded one heading to 3 cities before mine; but before we could reach, I checked my time and discovered that it was few minutes past eleven and my city is still about an hour far from where I was dropped. Mehn! I had my laptop in my back-pack and couldn’t risk being robbed, so I asked a bike man to take me to the nearest Anglican church where I explained my situation to them and was harboured till the next morning when I left for my City…… I wonder what would have happened if I had embarked on the journey straight to my City, I would have arrived around 1 Am…. For wetin?

FoodWhat To Do When You Suspect Your Drink Has Been Spiked by ScottDM1(op): 5:08pm On Dec 04, 2019
The festive season is already here and a lot of us have made-up plans to spend it in a social gathering, get-together or hang-out with friends, family or co-workers, e.t.c. One of the perks of those gatherings is the food and drinks always available to attendees.

In as much as you feel the gathering consists only of your friends, family or good co-workers, there’s a cause for alarm as there might exist an enemy amongst you who’s plan may be to drug your drink so as to achieve an ulterior motive…. Please, be aware that one can be drugged anywhere!

It’s no longer new to us to come across cases when someone’s drink got spiked; only to be raped, robbed or murdered afterwards… We call that “Inside Life”.

Today, I’ll be giving you tips which will serve as a guide to you whenever you find yourself in a social gathering, to prevent your drink from being spiked, and also what you can do if you suspect your drink has been spiked.

How to prevent your drink from being spiked

1. First of all, whenever you’re in a social gathering, mind the quantity of (alcohol) drinks you take-in so as to be conscious of the happenings around you and be aware of any suspicious activity.

2. While in a social gathering, make sure you finish up your drink before you move out; either to the dance floor, meet-and-greet, or the washroom, and make sure you personally order a new drink once you’re back to your seat.

3. If there’s a need to go out and you’ve not emptied your drink, only leave your drink with someone you trust…. Who do we even Trust these days?
Do not accept opened drink offers from anyone in a social gathering, be it a friend, or worse still a stranger you just met…. If you have to accept drink offers, make sure you order it yourself and watch it being served.

4. Always go out in the company of two or more of your trusted friends to increase your chances of being safe.

What To Do When You Suspect Your Drink Has Been Spiked

1. Although it is difficult to spot a spiked drink as the drugs being used are usually tasteless and odourless, once you start having a blurring vision, loss of balance, Nausea, Confusion, vomiting and unconsciousness, or even when you start feeling funny, act immediately and call for help. You’re advised to pick up your phone and call a trusted individual, preferably a family member who can arrive immediately and proffer help to you.

2. If you’re in a club or a gathering with in-house security personnel’s, approach security or bouncer and inform them that you’ve been drugged and need their protection until help arrives for you.

3. Seek medical attention in the nearest hospital available, to curtail the damage of the drug in your system.
