Just wondering how the media industry get their ratings. It's much easier and accurate in the US and other developed countries.

The media industry here includes Radio, TV, and Nollywood.

Anyone here with ideas ?

Bro they're all in the same boat. They just affect you differently. E.g you can hardly listen to sinach and not be "tempted" to praise God, likewise you can hardly listen to a banky w without being tempted to want to romance a girl.

Bro, I'm not setting up any law. Take a look at phil 4:8. Are they really good? Do they take you closer to God? It's simple logic but i guess you're not willing to be open about it.

Addendum: someone once told me of being gingered while having sex by listening to a popular album of a secular artist.
If a gospel song was going on, i know it would have been impossible to begin or continue !.

What does that tell you? I rest my case here

op, I don't entirely agree with the music aspect. I see nothing wrong with worldly music as far as it doesn't give a bad message. or can u explain why someone shouldn't listen to a love song, or a song about troubles e.g M.I's wild wild west or a song about his love for his brother and brotherly pain like M.I's song - brother
I get you but where do you draw the line. MI sometimes has good lyrics but by and large, you have scantily clad ladies, booze and the likes in his vids\lyrics.

Do they help you in your walk with God? I don't think so. I'm looking at the big picture here and not a singular song.

bruh ? trust me when i say listening to music is not a sin. however the issue is, why would you want to listen to wizkid music when you are a very spiritual person ? however Jesus Christ was a revolutionary figure and spiritually usurped the way things are done in the roman empire which is why they got kicked out and into egypt. so certain revolutionary music enhance your spiritual power. if you listen to some tupac and public enemy revolutionary songs, it stirs your spirit. its spiritual weightlifting to tone up the spiritual muscle.
I NEVER mentioned or implied that listening to music is a sin.
I never also said i wanted/ want to listen to wizkid and the likes.

I simply asked; tell me why and how listening to tupac would help me.

It's simple; you can't love Jesus and love/listen to tupac. Their core is totally different.

Yes tupac's songs and others are deep but it's a deep that Christians shouldn't go near

2 and 3 is rubbish. in fact going to church is what kills your spiritual life. and if you a very spiritual person you can listen to any music for the rhythm if you like it. where there is no law there is no sin. there is no laws in the bible against listening to music.

romans 4 vs 15 for where no law is, there is no transgression <<< NO LAW NO SIN.

although if you are deeply spiritual then you wouldnt have that much desire anyway to want to listen to too much worldly music.
He that thinks he stand should take heed lest he falls.

Please give me a good reason to listen to a wizkid song, cos i can't find any.

You're misquoting scriptures. Just read Romans 4 to understand fully before concluding.

Married attractive women have told me of the kind of passes they get from men on a regular basis especially if they don't live a boxed life.

If she was truly taken off the "shelf", then no man would be able to make a move, but they did

Same thing some rich attractive men face. Some ladies don't care about the rock on his finger. All they want is a piece of him. If he was truly off the market, they wouldn't be able to make a move.

Whether they accept or not is another story entirely.

The off-the-market idea is the reason people get complacent in marriage. Just because there's a ring or even kids doesn't mean you wouldn't get or be given advances

I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine when she told me she had been taken off the market. Incase you dont understand, she meant that she had seen a man who was interested in getting married to her.

The taken off the market phrase signifies that she has left the singles phase or the market where she'd be available.

After several days, the convo came back to me and i realized something rather unique. Just because you're engaged doesn't mean you're off the market. You'd still get suitors anyway.

Getting married doesnt mean you're off the market either. From time to time you'd still loads of opportunities to frolic around depending on your lifestyle.

In my opinion, I believe we never leave the market. We just go to a different section of the market but we remain there alright. And our actions wou

Marriage is a daily decision to remain in the secluded area of the market where you can't easily be accessed.

The wedding is just stage 1, the most important thing is staying married; staying in a secluded part of the market where access is difficult.

How can you stay in that secluded area of the market ? Stay tuned for more

I was about 6 years old then (not sure), i just couldn't sleep. I can't really remember the details but i knew something was missing; and I sensed what.

So i whispered to my mum, "I want to give my life to Christ". She led me to Him that night and I eventually found sleep.

I wish I can say that I've been with him until now but that would be a lie. Between then and now, I fell so many times did so many foolish things but I found my way back to His presence. He was and still is merciful.

It's been about 5 steady years now with him and I am glad. The journey has been wonderful even though there have been challenges.

Here I stand, not my power but by the grace of God.

RomanceThe Woman by sCross(op): 8:37pm On Sep 24, 2014
A woman is a unique part of God's creation who starts preparing for the role of a home maker at a tender age. She gets teddies at a tender age and learns to take care of them. She backs them ever so regularly and sometimes even take their baths.

She spends numerous number of hours learning
how to cook, how to clean from a tender age.

Even with her knowledge of home caring, She also studies hard to be able to make great grades. She spends so much time in front of the mirror
making sure she comes out spotless and
attractive. She has to spend hours in a bid to remain
attractive lest she be regarded as ugly. If she dresses in an attractive manner, she would
be regarded as irresponsible and a love-peddler.

If she doesn't, she is regarded as ugly If she decides not to get married, she'd be regarded as a LovePeddler or incomplete.
If eventually she gets married, she is pressurized to give birth asap.

And as soon as that happens, she is also expected to magically lose weight in
a month or less She struggles a lot and has to put up with pressure from her children, husband, and her job. If she gets protective of the man she loves, they'd call her jealous. If she doesn't, she'd be accused of not loving him enough.

If she asks for money for upkeep, she is accused of being too dependent. If she doesn't ask, she'd be accused of being too
independent.

If she decides to take up a job and work to be able to support her family, she is condemned as someone who doesn't want to take care of her own family. If she doesn't, she is regarded as a woman whose benefit is only in breeding children.

Society keeps pushing the women folk to the
wall and yet they stand up and fight in-spite of all obstacles.

Respect every female in your life. They deserve it.

Nairaland GeneralThe Mind by sCross(op): 4:17pm On Sep 16, 2014
The mind is like that rope being pulled by two opposing forces; ying and yang, good and evil, wisdom and foolishness, humility and pride. And every action you take is a step closer to one of these forces. Stagnancy is a myth, nothing ever remains exactly the same. It either depreciates or appreciates sometimes too subtle to note.

The moment you stop learning, you start unlearning. As a matter of fact, while you're learning, there are some things you unlearn in the process, talk less of when you choose not to learn.

You still have doubts about how the mind works? Check out this profound bible passage Rom 12:2

But be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind.

Renewal is defined as an act of renewing. It is a continuous process; never ending. The reason behind this passage is because of the fact that our minds are never stagnant. By default they it always tends to go left (the wrong way). It always tends to do the stupid and foolish things. So therefore it is important you continuously teach it and when you upgrade it with knowledge, you move towards the right (the right way).

How can you renew your mind you may ask?

They are just below;

Study God's word; the Bible and act accordingly
Study helpful that will boost your knowledge
Learn from people's experiences

BluIvy: Solange was wrong, she showcased her ghetto character and how she carries herself, while Beyonce showed a more matured and different character.

That alone should tell you people choose how they want to behave or react to something. So did Jay, respond in his own character which has saved him his fortune and bad undeserved publicity. He became the hero of the day. I guess he thought he would not reason like a poor man, he knows his worth he also knows its not worth it.

I know people expected Jay to knock Solange out, to show he is the man, he on the other side did not need
such validation, he knows who and what he is. He also knew, ona one on one fight with Solange he would probably kill her with one punch. No question about it.

Well on verbal abuse, i think naija man can stand their own verbally as I have experienced on nl but the problem is you quickly get angry and want to slap because in your up bringing someone told you a woman must never talk back to you. Its in your head not out there, you deal with head wiring you'll be okay. No one dies of deflated ego.
lol. Yes. Go ahead, make excuses for Solange, "ghetto character " indeed. You forgot a critical thing; Beyonce was present. Very few men would beat up their wife's sister in her presence. very few!!

An average guy gets physical in the middle of a heated argument by default (male or female); that doesn't make it right but that's truth.

What he did was wrong; no doubt but the way she acted was equally wrong. They are both guilty.

Solange assaulted Jay Z and she wasn't even reprimanded instead people concluded that Jay must have done something prior. If that is not double standards, please explain what is.

You're also very wrong about naija men being able to stand verbal abuse just because some do it here on nl. Nl is not the real world. There's ample time to craft out a killer response. In the real world, the woman usually says about 20 words before the man can muffle a weak reply

Last missile: There's a beast in every man and the "right" woman would bring it out.
FamilyRe: Violence: Again The Double Standards by sCross: 11:31pm On Sep 11, 2014
BluIvy: Am lost on what exact example you referring to here but let humour you.

Both men and women have mouth which they run at will e.g. On Nl all run their mouth the same way sometime the men are even more potent with their mouths, so why can't he continue using this equal tool? There are laws against beating up another person, whether your wife or girlfriend. The world is not trying to create a boxing ring or a prison where women cannot say anything otherwise they will be knocked senseless.
i guess verbal abuse is a myth to you simply because there are no visible scars. Plus You very well know that by default women are blessed with speech, men with fists.

BTW, Solange assaulted Jay and nothing happened. What would you say about that ?

Nairaland GeneralA Profound Illustration Of Faith by sCross(op): 3:52pm On Sep 04, 2014
" I am told that years ago a boat was upset above the falls of Niagara, and two men were being carried down the current, when persons on the shore managed to float a rope out to them, which rope was seized by them both.

One of them held fast to it and was safely drawn to the bank; but the other, seeing a great log come floating by, unwisely let go the rope and clung to the log, for it was the bigger thing of the two, and apparently better to cling to. Alas! the log with the man on it went right over the vast abyss, because there was no union between the log and the shore.

The size of the log was no benefit to him who grasped it; it needed a connection with the shore to produce safety. So when a man trusts to his works, or to sacraments, or to anything of that sort, he will not be saved, because there is no junction between him and Christ; but faith, though it may seem to be like a slender cord, is in the hands of the great God on the shore side; infinite power pulls in the connecting line, and thus draws the man from destruction. Oh the blessedness of faith, because it unites us to God!"
