chucky234: [s]Shola Ameobi may not be a 15 goal a season striker but for him to have remained in Newcastle's first team for 13 years speak a lot of his quality,Another thrash, especially saying he is good at holding the ball, in your imagination? Ameobi has been a benchwarmer for each of those 13 years, there are seasons when he could be regarded as the fifth or sixth choice striker. Many top strikers have made their mark at the club and left, does it mean he is better than them? Ameobi was never anybody's preferred partner. Martins was Owen's preferred partner, there was nother left footed striker (forgotten his name) at Newcastle that time. Ameobi was like 7th choice. |
write2obi: ReallyGoogle told me, your mum is scum. I also learnt she is good at holding up dîcks in between her legs. Hahahaha |
thegoodjoehunt: A holding role is quite different from holding up play. Holding up play is done upfront in the attack.whatever it is, Ameobi isn't good at it. If you want to know a striker who knows how to hold up play, look no further than Ibrahimovic. That hasn't stopped him from banging in the goals. Ideye is even better at doing that than Ameobi and he still has a few goals in him. |
thegoodjoehunt: He might be good aerially, but someone like Terry will munch him. I said a player good aerially and as strong as Shola. So how many headers did Ameobi win off Terry again? Your arguments lack substance. Seriously |
thegoodjoehunt: Watching the match doesn't mean you noticed what was going on. Man, Shola was aver Terry and Luiz. His run was also amazing. Stop arguing facts. Pardew went for a strategy that worked and he chose Shola. He isn't stupid. What was Amazing about his run, you have no point. Longevity doesn't prove anything, what you achieved in those years is what makes you class. Giggs was class because of his achievements on the pitch, not because of longeivity. If we are to go by longevity, Ameobi will be Newcastle's best ever player, and we all know he is no where close to that. Loic Remy might spend only this season on loan and leave a greater footprint at Newcastle than Ameobi did in 13 years. |
write2obi: ScumYour mum is scum, yes I just checked google that is what I saw. |
thegoodjoehunt: The tipsters are not on the board of Newcstle. Please I would like you to list the players who are good aerially who are as strong az Ameobi. Especially Nigerian that Keshi should call up.Eziekiel Imoh is 1000 times better than Ameobi aerially. His headed goals this season and last are a testimony to that. How many does Ameobi have within the same period? Pardew is on borrowed time, we know how all these things start as rumours until the managers are eventually sacked www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-manager-alan-pardew-knows-2328080 |
thegoodjoehunt: Alan Pardew said his plan was to let Chelsea have the ball in the first half and allow them to tire out. Mourinho like his players working hard when they are with the ball. He used Shola to keep pressurd on the defence when Chelsea lost the ball.I watched the match for 90 minutes, Ameobi didn't do anything remotely capable of tiring out the Chelsea players. Runnig around looking for the ball gets you tired, not the defenders. How many times did he run at the defenders with the ball? ''If longevity doesn't show class, then Giggs is crap'' another nonsense thing to say. |
thegoodjoehunt: I already explained that. Alan Oardew ain't going nowhere.www.metro.co.uk/2013/10/27/the-tipster-alan-pardew-has-odds-cut-drastically-after-newcastle-lose-derby-at-sunderland-4163022/ One victory against Chelsea will only delay it, but he will be sacked eventually. As for Ameobi, you obviously don't know what to say. As a forward, you are either scoring or assisting goals, the job of ''holding up'' play is for the holding midfielders, not Ameobi. Besides, he isn't even good at holding anything, I also know a lot of players who are better in the air than Ameobi despite his height. The guy has nothing to offer. |
If the lose their next match, at least we know the reason. |
thegoodjoehunt: If you don't know, football is dynamic and you can't use the same strategy in every game. You need a player like Shola, if you need a different approach like the Chelsea game.So how exactly did Ameobi help them? Is it a surprise that they started scoring immediately he was substituted? ''Emile Heskey was class and his longevity was proof''. What a nonsense thing to say. |
thegoodjoehunt: So you think Alan Pardew needs his head checked for starting him against Chelsea and winning the game?what did Ameobi contribue to them winning the game? Who the hell is Alan Pardew who is on the verge of being sacked? |
bboiabb: you don't realise his use.. he is used to hold up the ball in his number 9 position. As he is holding the ball, that will allow midfielders and wingers to attack and score. He necessarily may not score but considering the fact that he is STILL getting regular playing time at newcastle means he is of use. What regular playing time does he get at Newcastle? You are one of those who only watch big teams play, because you watched him start against Chelsea, you assumed he had been starting other matches. |
bboiabb: you don't realise his use.. he is used to hold up the ball in his number 9 position. As he is holding the ball, that will allow midfielders and wingers to attack and score. He necessarily may not score but considering the fact that he is STILL getting regular playing time at newcastle means he is of use.Nonsense useless story, that is how they deceive you. Why don't a little club like Newcatsle play him regularly to make good use of his ''hold up'' expertise. Absolute nonsense! That is how England were deceiving themselves with Heskey until they opened their eyes. |
Fadelex: Current club Newcastle UnitedThey guy is shyte absolutely no doubt about that. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs his head checked. So because he has been at Newcastle for 13 years, he is better than Owen, Viduka, Shearer, Demba Ba, Martins and other top strikers who have come and gone. For 13 years Ameobi has never, I repeat NEVER been the first or even second choice striker at the club. People usually hide under the excuse of ''utility players'' when defending people like him. How many assists does he have? What does a lazy and slow player like Ameobi contribute to the team? Absolute nothing. As short as Martins is, he scored more headed goals than Ameobi when he was at Nwecastle. |
In summary, Keshi shouldn't use the 2 days break after the Ethiopia match as an excuse. |
abacus Cm: Shola Ameobi and Reuben useless?may be you don't watch Ameobi against chelsea yesterday.I'm surprise about this comment.Haruna should also start against Ethiopia while Mikel should be on bench?wonder shall never endHaruna should start against Italy- a friendly match, that is what I meant. All the new invitees would have featured in the Italy match only. |
I don't care if Ameobi has spent 50 years at Newcastle, he is still shyte! Strikers like Shearer, Owen, Martins, Viduka, Demba Ba, Demba Cisse etc have come and gone, yet Ameobi remains a benchwarmer at the club. How many goals and first team apperances does he even have to show for his 100 years at the club? |
gbrown: gradually keshi has forgotten d midfield wonderkid of parma fc JOEL OBI, who the hell is Gabriel or shola amoabi?Keshi didn't forget him, his clubs forgot him. We are asking Keshi to invite players who play regularly for thier clubs, you are talking about Joel Obil |
DIVINE78: You still carry tribalism reach here? Na wa for you o.You are a big fool! Whar is tribalistic about saying Ameobi is shyte? Ameobi even sounds like an Igbo name |
isale_gan2: They also cheated Ghana out of the World Cup semis.Who cares? |
naija noni: My problem is not even ameobi. At least ameobi has started some games and has been featuring regularly for newcastle dis season when fit.He even has a goal to his name.Ameobi has no business being in the Super eagles team. Can you imagine him being our main striker vs Italy? The guy is pure shyte! |
seankay: Where is Joel Obi nahJoel Obi is not good enough, besides he has been a bench warmer all year. |
Now we run the risk of starting Ameobi against Italy which is an insult to our status as African champions. |
Keshi could have easily had these line-ups for both matches: vs Ethiopia Enyeama Ambrose Oboabona Egwueke Echiejile Onazi Mikel Igiebor Musa Emenike Moses vs Italy Ejide Kwambe Omeruo Okwuosa Benjamin Azeez Haruna Onazi Ideye Imoh Moses Moses and Onazi would have been the only players to start both matches having been substituted early against Ethiopia. Instead Keshi decided to do copy and paste and submit the same team list, I wonder if he has been monitoring our players. Reuben isn't even good enough to make Kilmarnock's bench whereas Azeez is now playing regularly for Almeria of Spain. Haruna despite his issues should have been given one last chance with the Italy match. Keshi is becoming too relaxed and lazy no wonder his belly his shooting out at an alarming rate. |
We have to play Italy 2 days after the Ethiopia match and we need a good result in that match for our rankings and pride as African champions. We can only use 14 out of the 23 players for the Ethiopia match, meaning we have 9 fresh players left to play the Italy match 2 days later. Keshi should have invited players who are good enough to start any of the 2 matches. Ezekiel Imoh in place of useless Ameobi, Lukeman in place of useless Reuben, that way we could have had a good striker to start the Italy match in place of Emenike who must have played against Ethiopia 2 days earlier, Haruna could have replace Mikel from the Ethiopia starting 11. Is it Ameobi that will lead our attack against Italy? Who replaces Mikel? Keshi has no excuse o! We can't lose to Italy |
They knocked us out of the confederations cup and U20 world cup. Serves them right. |
Igbo-Yoruba connection for the goal yet again |
My prediction. Nigeria 3 - 0 Uruguay |

Google told you "the job of holding up play is for a holding midfielder" Scum are you sure
,or you just said it cos the word Hold appeared in both of them
