Labour know they can't get 464k. They just want something reasonable. Government should be reasonable too. An average senator earns roughly 13m every month while you who do the work is demanding for 80k. Benin Republic minimum wage is CFA52,000 which amounts to N127,000. Same goes for Togo. SA is N2,150. 8 hours in SA is N17k. I. 20 days, you have over 300k in Naira. Why are you demanding for 80k? Senators earn up to N13m every month. Go and change your poverty mindset.

What useless inflation are you talking about.? A bag of rice already rose from 8k to 80k with the same 18k/30k minimum wage. From January last year till now, garri rose from 1,200 to 4k. What other time of inflation do you now want to talk about?
Labour should focus there attention and fight to the National Assembly to reduce their fat salehand other benefits. I'm surprised the LP senators are no more saying anything since they got elected.

oluwaseyi0:
To be realistic can the average private nursery school in Benue or Osun afford to pay each of their teachers 500,000, and that one-man struggling business can afford to pay their cleaner 500,000k per month or you think minimum wage begins and ends at the public office, in fact, currently some states like Abia states ain't even generating enough to pay the 30k minimum wage,

if level one step one is 500k, how much will fresh graduates which usually start at level 8 receive, 3.5million monthly I guess, then a level 13/14 senior public servant will receive 13m monthly or do you intend to pay level one step one 500k but intend to pay level fourteen 600k?
if the Fg pegged it at #200k per month per minimum wage, it’s highly justifiable with that figures and the economy will robust back. Don’t forget that it’s this workers pay taxes most. So your point reeks of propaganda and hypocrisy here. Nigeria senators monthly salaries and allowances is more than 20m naira not to talk of his aides. Why can’t the political office holders cut their monthly salaries and allowances. They will never do that. Keep on defending your oppressors here. And you are talking about the private school proprietor or proprietress paying less money, as if the cleaner in their schools are not been overworked with peanuts they get per month. You better talk well here. Once the minimum wage is been approved, the cleaners collecting peanuts from the Fg and private establishments will be paid fine and well.

Myopic and naive that is what you are.

When we talk about minimum wage we are not talking about an average wage. We are talking about the lowest salary to be paid and for your info, this applies not just to the government, but to private enterprises with 50 or more staff. So how is it practical to insist on a minimum wage of almost 500k?

Let the strike last for a week na let's see who will feel it more.
Yes o, it will last for more than a week and you will cry more. grin grin

Your paymasters have already summoned NLC for a meeting by 10am tomorrow. Why are they jittery? Urgent 2k kor.......immediate 10k ni. As if it's not the revenue the poor workers generate that the foolish leaders feast on. They can mobilize their children and people like you to do the work na, since they can do without workers. Yen yen yen.....I don't blame you. Half educated lots.
The wise ones amongst you know that the goal is not 400k, it is only a negotiation strategy. When we reach 100k, we will do the needful. For now, enjoy the blackout and other benefits of the industrial action. Cheers cheesy

Literature / Love Of My Life (Chapter 1) by Storymack: 4:57pm On Jun 03
👩‍❤️‍👨🔸(Awaken)🔸❣️

The busy people in Gwangju Airport were dazed in a peculiar incident happening inside. The employees together with some of the passengers were all gathered around in circle as they stared at a man peacefully sleeping on the white ivory tiled floor.

His black polka dot polo and black slacks were soaked and his surroundings had paddles of water. Hid hair wet and messy and so was his whole body. He was in a fatal position, breathing slowly unlike the other people around him. The guards interfered them and went in front of the crowd.

"Sir." The guard said as he squatted and nudged the shoulder of the man. "Sir." He reiterated as he put more force in his nudge.

Abruptly, the man opened his big dark brown eyes. The people gasped as they saw him wake up. The man rose up as he breathed heavily and coughed continuously.

"Sir, are you okay?"

The man forcefully stopped his cough and looked around blankly at the guard. "W..where am I?"

The guards chortled finding the man's question ridiculous. "Sir, you're at the center of the Gwangju Airport. You have been sleeping for hours."

"Gwangju Airport?" He asked. He was confused on what's happening around him. He looked around and saw people with different colors looking at him. Slowly, he stood and noticed he was wet. "S... sorry...I don't know why I'm here..."

The people were confused too. They had many speculations in mind. Some thought that he was kidnapped and brought her secretly. Some thought that it was some kind of supernatural act. Some thought that he has gone nuts.

Embarrassed, he got out of the pool of people and shook his arm as he tried to dry up his polo. As he near the glass exit doors of the airport, he was welcomed by the warm and dry afternoon in Gwangju. It was already the season of autumn and the brown leaves kept rustling and falling off the trees.

He stopped for a moment and tried to remember what happened to him. He closed his eyes and exhaled, it took him a minute to finally realizes that he couldn't remember a single thing, even his name. It made him frustrated.

'Why am I at the airport? Why am I soaked in water? Who am I?' Thee questions kept rounding his mind.

He slowly stepped out of the airport as he pushed the door. As he existed the airport, it started to drizzle.

The people started to remove their coats to cover their heads as the ran to the nearest shelter they could find. They were hurrying as the rain started to get heavier. The man stopped for lunch while and looked up as the drops of rain touched his face.

He looked at the side as he continued running forward. As he moved forward, he bumped into someone unintentionally. His eyes widened in shock as he looked down, seeing a woman in long wavy black hair with her books and blue umbrella scattered on the wet floor.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He said repeatedly as he squatted and help her pick up the books.

"It's okay." The woman said softly as she winced in mild pain. He stood and offered his hand to the woman. She held his hand and he pulled her up. "Thank you." She blushed.

He gave me the umbrella and smiled at her. The woman shyly smiled back and they both stood still waiting for each other to talk.

"Do...you have an umbrella?" She asked in concern as she saw how soaked he was.

"No." He replied as he rubbed his nape in embarrassment.

"grin..D.. Do you want to share mine?"

He looked at her in surprise. He didn't expect to hear that from her, especially when he was a stranger to her.

"W...what?"

"Ah...ah... please don't misunderstand."she blushed. "I..I'm just worried, your shirt's already soaked."

"Ah...y..yes." he said. He walked closer to her as the woman raised her right arm to cover the tall man. He noticed it and offered to handle the umbrella instead. They continued walking silently as the drops of rain, the car's horns and the trees made their respective sounds.

"So... where do you live?" She asked.

"I don't know." He muttered.

The woman was puzzled. She thought he might be homeless, but she disregarded the thought as his clothes looks expensive.

"grin...do you know me?" He asked, hoping there's a chance.

"No." She answered as she looked to the side thinking that he was bragging. "Who are you?"

The man paused as he looked down thinking of what to answer. "I don't know."

Again the woman was puzzled. They kept walking forward as they looked down to see the rain dropping on the asphalt floor and partly on their shoes. After a few steps, they both arrived at the bus stop.

"Where are you going?"

My own curiosity is, if some states are still paying the N18k minimum wage claiming they can't afford N30k.

How then do you expect such states to pay anything above N100k?

We are even yet to talk about the private sectors. Would they be able to afford above N100k minimum wage? Even if the minimum wage is pegged around N80k, there would still be lay off.

How about the inflation the ridiculous amount N464k abi na how much NLC would cause?

https://www.nairaland.com/8113134/n70-n80k-realistic-minimum-wage

That's daft thinking with all due respect. Because they don't pay 30K doesn't mean they can't pay,and because they ain't paying doesn't mean you should just let it be. Plus do you know the revenue accrued to these states after subsidy removal?? If you do, you go carry placard go street protest.
