Good morning everyone.
Please I have calculated my points and I can see I have a score of 85 for subclass visa 190 if msc is removed and double honors degree is approved. If msc is added I have 80 points as my three years job experience becomes null. I studied English Education, a four year course at Tai Solarin University of Education(4yrs course with certificate of B.A and B.ed and yes we did 7months of teaching practice). I have a masters in English and Literature studies(from Univeraity of Ibadan). And 3 years of work experience as an English secondary schoolteacher. I've written CELTA (which makes me a specialist in ESL) and have academic ielts results.
Aim is to teach english at ESL level or as a Secondary school teacher till I do my phd. All my experience is before masters. Will they be accepted by AITLS? Destination is Melbourne.

I need to know before proceeding to pay for assessment with AITLS if my degrees are acceptable by AQF. And do you think I can get the 190 visa with my 85 or 80 points? I am single and unmarried.

P.S I also have a vocational result in fashion design from my university and an additional one year training with certification.

Thank you..

Attached are the certificate requirements aitsl asked for

If it were to be VETASSES, I would have told you to add your MSc but I don't know how aitsl assesses the degree for TASUED. However, what I am sure of is that they are particular about teaching practice which every department of education does in Nigeria.

You should be able to get a positive assessment with your qualification. If you want peace of mind, you can add your Msc.

I don't think you should be fixated on a state at this stage. You should be concerned with state that offers nomination for your occupation.

Hello Nenyeroz1 , I don't know if you can assist me as well ,
Age 33
Degree Bsc Economics 2011
and postgraduate Education 2017
Work experience 4 years teaching but presently running an online business
About to write ielts but not decided if to write general or academic

Hubby 44
Degree Economics
Masters Economics
Chartered institute of taxation
Work experience Tax consultant 11 years

Saw on aistl requirement is to have bsc in education before one can be verified,
What are our options please ?

Your Pgde will not give you a positive assessment with aitsl. BSc in Education is compulsory.
Your spouse can also not assess as a Tax Accountant because Australian tax is different from Nigerian tax, however if he can tweak his documents for General Accountant/Management Accountant/Management consultant; that may work.

Does he work in any of the big 4s?
what month is his 45 birthday?

pls what do you mean by AILTSL website
also i dont want to apply for any ielts again because the money itself not easy..
any idea with what i have on ground....if useful?

aitsl is the assessing body for teachers in Australia. A simple Google search will help.
The requirement for aitsl is strictly ielts Academics 8877.
If ielts fund is currently the issue, I will suggest you go through the first few pages of this thread to understand how much this journey gonna cost you and do a thorough evaluation afterwards.
What you have on ground cannot be useful except you are ready to put in the work starting from asking the initial question of "do you have any teaching experience"?

You can apply if your other points meet the minimum requirement for ITA cos your current English score is z

As it is, aitsl requires ielts Academic 8877 for a positive assessment.

@tunlex01
Yes, you are right. I just read the requirements on their website. I'll write another ielts. Thanks so much.

@Mobiss,

It is very pertinent to have a third party evidence of employment which include one of tax certificate, pension statement or bank statement. If you get through the assessment without it, you may likely not get through main application stage without it and that will amount to PR visa denial.

It is either you stick to the three years experience as paid and the other two as unpaid or talk to the head office to sort something out for you.

@Thementors27,

The last time I read aitsl website, experience was not compulsory but it is very compulsory to have done teaching practice for one year which must be part of of the school curriculum as evidenced in your transcript. If you have that and the ielts requirement, (theirs is different - they require band S-8, W-8, R-7, L-7) you are good to go.

The question about your husband, the occupation he nominates depends on what he does at the agro allied company. However, I am not sure if VETASSES will accept Agricultural Engineering for a consultant experience. The agric people may provide you with further guidance on that.

@Aby774u,

Go to Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) website for instructions on how to go about the skills assessment. I cannot provide advice on the disparity of your qualification and experience. You can talk to TRA about it and other things needed for a successful skills assessment as a plumber.

Thank you Bellong. I will go for the VETASSESS and pray it turns out well. My major concern was the fact that I had those experience in DIFFERENT companies and proof to show them might be quite difficult except for employment letter. Any other proof might just be almost impossible except for my present place of work which I have done for 4 years. VETASSESS it is then. Thank you.

bellong:
@AmaSophy,

You have read that you don't need work experience to assess with aitsl. I don't think there is anything complicated on their website.

Sit for ielts and score minimum of 7 in each band. However, without any experience, will you be able to make the minimum of 65 points?

Secondly, I don't think there is any formal qualification for a customer service manager. People I know that got positive assessment in the occupation do not have any academic qualification as a customer manager. What you should be concerned about is how you can align your job descriptions with that of the anzsco job descriptions for a customer service manager.

VETASSES will give you a positive assessment if your job descriptions align. Customer service manager is a skill level 2 which means you don't have to worry if your school is tier 1 or not. If you can align your skills to the job descriptions of a customer service manager, you stand a very high chance of getting a positive assessment.

Goodluck.

The pain in my heart right now is the fact that I am deeply confused and feel like there is no solution anywhere. All I get is questions upon questions and even with my answers they end up telling me just read the site and read the site. I have read them both and slept on them but I need help so I don't go about assessing wrongly and wasting a whopping 860 AUD that I don't have

Let me ask again. Oga Bellong and all the gurus in the house , help so I can commence my process by this coming week.

I need your help please as I seem to have a different case from most people. Having work experience in a field entirely different from my degree in education

I have a degree in English Language education and graduated in 2008 from UNN although i really have not done anything teaching except for my teaching prqcrice and the year i thought before NYSC which should be cumulatively 3 years. I have been working as an Admin/Client relationship officer with over 8 years experience although from different companies (1,3 and 4 years in my current place of work).

I have gone through Anzsco and realised that VETASSESS has customer service manager by virtue of experience and not degree qual but because people say that VETASSESS is getting strict with assessing people who do not have experience in similar field. In fact, a lady on the whatsapp group told me there was nothing like waiving some years off the experience as she did that and VETASSESS denied her, I thought to go with aitsl which is the assessing body for teaching. Although their requirements are not so straight forward but i can try. I have never seen anyone who assessed as a teacher which makes it more difficult to decide.

In my confusion, another said i should try TRA. I am jist getting frustrated because this is something i ought to have started processing by now because my decision would also help me in choice for English test as aitsl doesn't accept PTE only ielts.

Although aitsl doesnt demand for experience at this initial stage but i hear the process thereafter is rigorous.

PLEASE WHO HAS ASSESSED FROM A BODY DIFFERENT FROM HIS DEGREE STUDY AND ALSO, WHO HAS ASSESSED WITH aitsl. I would have tri3d both but the money is too mich for douvle gamble.

Help a sister pleaseeee

Have a look at the aitsl website. It says your application is assessed against 2 criteria. Qualification and English test. They don't require experience. You would have to gather more points from other sources like English test

However, your qualification must include supervised teaching practice.

AmaSophy:
I just discovered this thread today.

I need help please. I studied English language (education) - UNN. Other than approximately 2 years teaching experience which includes my NYSC and teaching practice experience, I have about 8 years experience in administrative functions and I am confused on what to apply for under the skilled occupation in subclass 189.

In a nutshell, my certificate I'm education doesn't confirm with quality experience in another field (administrative officer). I need advice on if to apply for education using just 2 yrs experience or look for something similar to admin although I don't remember seeing admin in the occupation list.

Please advice me professionally while considering the points that would be accrued to me

Age : 30points
Degree : 15 points
English: yet to write ielts
Experience: 2 yrs teaching and 8 years admin officer

You should probably go through the education route. You would have more options. You can go for 189 or look for state or regions sponsoring teachers.

hello everyone, been following this trend for sometime. Iv gone through the skilled migration, and after my calculation, I would have 65 points if I score 8.0 in english ielts . I have a degree in education, bsc to b precise. i want to know if i can go ahead in the application wen i get the 20pts from english, or if the teaching skill wont suffice cos all iv bn seeing has bn technology-related occupation.

Education is definitely one of the most sought after occupations due to the dearth of teachers in some regions especially in the country areas. From what those who have assessed with aitsl said, most important criteria for having a positive assessment are getting minimum of 7 in each band of ielts and your teaching practice year.

Your teaching skill is enough. Read up to identify your assessing authority and read more about the requirements.

Thanks sir @Master belling. Bit I have another thing to be cleared though I hav read almost all the pages of this and the previous threads but no clear to this.

In this point things involving married couple. Both need to have qualification n skills assessed by d relevant authorities and take english test too? If am d principal applicant, my wife's ielts, age, qualification n Skil assessment will only add 5points t me and she will get no point on her own either , If my wife's is the principal applicant too, my age, ielts, education n Skil assessment will giv my wife just added 5points as well? Did I understand it. Your analysis on the partner point is correct.

But does it mean dt f u didn't assess ur partner's qualification n skill, he /she wouldn't be allowed t join d oda t live n work in Australia. She is still eligible to join you, only thing is for her to provide evidence of English proficiency which is usually 30 in PTE or 4.5 in ielts or letter from her school stating she was taught in english (this last option is usually subjected to CO's willingness), so I lean towards taking the English test

My wife is younger than I am, by her age, she is sure to get 30points on age, but she has NCE but has only taught in primary school for jst 2yrs
Unfortunately for a teacher NCE will not be recognized, more info https://www.aitsl.edu.au/migrate-to-australia

Me, by d time, I will b getting assessed by EA n finally writing my EOI, I estimated a yr, by den I will only get 15 in my age( 38 nw).I hv 10yrs job experience in line with my education qualification.(HND civil engineering).
one year is over stating the fact, you can be done in a 4 months will utmost dedication and fast track

I want t go for 489,o r 190 plz advice me more for who will b d principal and wht other helpful info. We e ready t write my English test, am also gathering my docs for assessment by EA.

best case scenario is for you to be the primary applicant

Hi, I did my assessment before finding this group so didn't know about tier 1 or 2 universities. What's on their website is a 4 year university degree so you should go ahead & try your luck. What I do know they are fussy about is Teaching Practice and its duration. I got my TP coordinator to write the letter using the university's letterhead and stamp and it was accepted. This was sent with my ielts result, certificate and filled registration form via DHL.

Transcript was sent directly to them from unilag.

Hello, we have the same qualifications and occupation (Maths Teacher). As stated above, you can't apply as a Mathematician because of the JD and at least a year experience.

Related occupations are early childhood teacher - 241111, primary school teacher - 241213, middle school teacher - 241311 and secondary school teacher-241411(Depending on your present level of teaching)

aitsl will assess you. They only take ielts - 8/8/7/7(8 in both speaking and Listening). There must also be an official letter from your university stating that you did the mandatory teaching practice.

Quick question pls: Is NTI written on your transcript or the University NTI is affiliated to? I need to apply for mine.

Why did you think aitsl would give him positive assessment? Did he study Education at the undergraduate level? Mathematics is not a course under education category. PGDE NTI is not sufficient to earn him positive assessment from aitsl as he does not have underpinning degree in education. And you need at least 1 year experience as Mathematician to get a positive assessment from Vetassess. Don't waste your money on a path that would not get you positive assessment.

Australian Assessing bodies take assessments of overseas qualification very serious than you think. You need at least Bachelor degree in Education from 1st tier Universities from Nigeria to get a positive assessment.

If you have the money, you could try the study option (Teaching/Education).
