donmik: Pls help suggest the other better way of solving this kind of trickish game FG is playing if you are a lecturer. You don't seem to understand this gov't o. Well, uif u like, go arrest ASUU and force them to graduate u. Better talk with neutrality and consideration If universities are productive, they will not need FG to be dictating to them when it comes to funding. Imagine if your school is involved with power generation which they can be selling to the neighboring communities? Imagine if your school has large agric farms that are producing both plant and animal farm products on a large scale? What if your school owns a payment platform something in the nature of Paystack which generates money for them? What if your school was involved in producing vaccines? Think of each and every department in your school and think of their relevance in the larger society and then think of what if they are offering those relevances in exchange for monetary gains. How is your school harnessing the mental powers of the students and chanelling them into great innovations and inventions? These lecturers who claim to be intellectuals should be more concerned with practising the so-called entrepreneurship they are teaching rather than waiting for the Federal Government to be funding them all the time. That's why the Federal Government is always using them to play Whot because they know that they are the boss. |

Don27tiky: it is time Nigerians get furious with those lecturers too. Don’t you know those lecturers are the reason Nigeria is backward? Many parents pay fees for this lecturers to train their children to become useful only for them to come out half baked and no one is blaming ASUU. Thank you so much for saying that. Some of these lecturers only know how to turn up for classes two weeks to the exam to start teaching what I don't know. Some of them conduct classes that are so boring that you start to wonder what are they even doing in the teaching profession. I don't even want to mention those ones that are only good in financially and sexually exploitation of the students put under their care and guidance. They claim that they are intellectuals and yet Nigeria is still intellectually backwards like this. Why can't the intellectuals think of other ways of solving their grieviances with the Federal Government without having to put every other person's lives out there on pause? |

Ebubu: You think they are threatened to lose elections due to your strike ? If they felt threatened they would have reacted & called off the strike.
By now, E suppose don clear you for eye say these people get ulterior motives. You better negotiate with an incoming government that has 8 years to implement what you signed with them. Signing with an outgoing government is rubbish, he has no time to implement it. An incoming government can easily claim it wasn’t him who signed it, or oil price has gone low, or other excuses. Stop this strike, it’s not bearing fruits. You people are becoming like the FG you castigate. Final year students have been in final year for 2 years now. Na wetin wey dey pain me pass be dat. How long will it take the so called "intellectuals" to discover that this their current battle with this current government is not yeilding any desirable fruits? |

CyberHustle: we don't have best minds. Your rants won't change that. A lecturer who comes to class and openly talks about A is for God is a useless one. That's what most of them are. Useless lecturers with unreadable handouts that has been photocopied for over a decade. No new innovations in passing across ideas. Most of them cannot use graphics software that will help introduce new illustrations to convey ideas and take so much delight in failing students than imparting knowledge. I dey tell you. So many outdated lecturers in the system still thinking they are gods. The world is talking about innovations meanwhile they are still talking about giving A or F. |

Amoo89: I don’t believe majority understand what is happening now. We should stop blaming wrong people all the time based on what I have read I don’t blame the government now but ASUU claiming even after adjustment in condition they won’t still return to the class because govt refused to pay them for the days they have been on strike. Let me ask them how possible is it to meet up with time they have lost. What is their sacrifice Abi it is all because of their own benefits. Let’s all be realistic before we shift blames. Don't mind the greedy and useless ASUU. They want their ''bad behavior'' to be rewarded all the time. Any small thing, strike... why? Because they know they will still be paid at the end of the day even if they strike lasts for 100 years! The Federal Government wants to put an end to that nonsense. They are complaining about their six months salary but what about the students they have wasted their 6 months? Will they go back in time to return those wasted 6 months to those students if the FG goes back in time to pay them for the work they did not do? ASUU own don too much abeg. |

I don't know the institution you attended but trust me we have some of the best minds in Academia in Africa despite our limitations. Go, your sins are forgiven What does it mean to get a PhD? With all the PhDs you have acquired, how many worthy inventions have come out of it? hedonido: Nonsense. Nigerian public university lecturers are overrated. I know this because I know this. Bunch of redundant, smug, unnecessarily arrogant idiots. I hate Buhari more than anyone else but you see this ASUU, they are absolute smelly fecal matter.
The way ASUU has held the country to ransom over the years is just a sad comedy. They overrate their importance and think that because one corrupt, depraved animal is a 'Dr' or Professor of shit, then he deserves to earn more than an oil industry executive. We're talking about someone whose actual academic/intellectual/innovative output is almost zero. There's nothing they can teach you now that you wouldn't easily find on Google or YouTube. There's nothing that comes out of their useless 'research'. Give one of them a N1b grant to do research in their field, and watch how they would spend it on the usual Naija levels... Acquiring property, cars, investing in private business, and then forming made man.
The country is just a joke. ASUU my foot. Thank you for saying this. ASUU is highly overrated. |
