Reports that an Israeli Member of Parliament signed for the deliberation of the Biafra issue in the Knesset have sparked widespread reactions among supporters and critics of the movement.
While supporters see the development as a sign that the Biafra cause is gaining international visibility, others argue that parliamentary discussions do not necessarily translate into official government support.
The move has reignited debates about self-determination, human rights, and the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, while raising questions about whether international attention could influence future discussions on the matter.
As the story develops, many will be watching closely to see whether the deliberation produces any significant political impact.

The recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State has continued to generate nationwide reactions, with prominent cleric Father Ejike Mbaka expressing concern over the worsening security situation.
Speaking on the incident, Mbaka reportedly challenged authorities to intensify efforts toward securing the safe return of the victims. The cleric questioned why schools and vulnerable communities remain exposed to repeated attacks despite ongoing assurances from government officials.
His comments have added to growing public anxiety following the latest school kidnapping, which has sparked outrage among parents, community leaders, and civil society groups. Many Nigerians have called for stronger security measures around schools, particularly in rural areas where attacks have become increasingly frequent.
The incident has also placed renewed pressure on the Oyo State Government and security agencies to provide updates on rescue operations and reassure families whose children remain in captivity.
Analysts say the latest abduction highlights the broader challenge of insecurity facing several parts of the country, with concerns that repeated attacks on educational institutions could discourage school attendance and undermine confidence in public safety.
As rescue efforts continue, many Nigerians are demanding swift action, insisting that the protection of schoolchildren must remain a top national priority.
The coming days are expected to be critical as security agencies work to secure the release of the victims and address growing public concerns over the safety of students across the country.

A viral video from Benin City has captured the frustration of Edo residents battling severe floods this week.
In the clip, a group of residents wades through waist-deep water while singing mockery praises to Governor Monday Okpebholo: “Edo State Is Truly Shining, See How Everywhere Is Looking.” The sarcastic chant came as heavy rains left major roads like Airport Road and Upper Sakponba under water, with homes and shops flooded across Ikpoba Hill and Egor. Cars were seen submerged, and traders struggled to salvage goods.
The phrase “Edo Is Shining” echoes the state government’s slogan, now being used by residents to highlight the contrast between official messaging and current realities on the ground.
The video has sparked debate online. Some users say it reflects years of poor drainage and failed urban planning. Others argue the Okpebholo administration inherited the problem and recently approved ₦2.1 billion for a “Flood-Free Edo” project.
The Governor visited flood sites on Wednesday and ordered immediate dredging of blocked channels. But for many residents, the damage is already done.
This is the second major flood in Benin City this rainy season, raising fresh questions about preparedness and long-term solutions.
What do you think? Is sarcasm the only voice residents have left? Drop your comments below.
Abubakar Shekau’s Boko Haram began by exploiting Muslim grievances, promising to defend Islam. But it quickly turned on the same communities. Mosques, markets, and clerics who disagreed were attacked. Loyalty to Shekau, not faith, became the test.
Christians were targeted deliberately — not just out of ideology, but to deepen Nigeria’s religious divide. The goal was chaos. When Muslims and Christians fear each other, extremists gain room to operate.
Some politicians thought they could use Boko Haram for power. They were wrong. The group answered to no one. Former allies became targets when they tried to regain control.
Shekau’s endgame wasn’t protection. It was domination. His version of Islam rejected schools, democracy, and coexistence. The attacks on education fit the pattern: control requires ignorance. That’s why, without real change, the violence against schools and civilians won’t stop on its own.
Critics argue that prolonged conflict creates perverse incentives. Security budgets are opaque. Division can be political currency. This fuels public doubt that every actor wants the insurgency fully ended, even as thousands of soldiers die fighting it.
The way out is unity: Boko Haram loses when Nigerians refuse to blame a whole religion for the acts of extremists. Military force matters, but trust matters more. Demand transparency. Protect each other. Invest in the Northeast.

NIGHT RAID: It ended in gunfire, but it ended safely.
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, on Saturday night, June 6, 2026, three days after they were abducted in Ibadan.
The abduction John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was kidnapped around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, while driving her sons to school in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South West LGA. Armed men reportedly trailed her KIA Sonata from home, flagged her down, and took all three at gunpoint.
The rescue Police say sustained intelligence tracking and tactical pressure forced the gang into a confrontation around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were killed and two firearms recovered. Two other suspects were arrested, according to sources.
The victims were rescued alive and unharmed. Oyo State Police PRO, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the operation, while Commissioner Abimbola Olugbenga said the family was “safe, healthy and unharmed”. They are now in protective custody for medical checks and support.
Fallout The abduction drew high-level attention. Gov. Seyi Makinde paid a solidarity visit to Adelabu’s Ibadan residence on Friday, pledging state support to secure their release.
Security operatives are still combing nearby areas for fleeing syndicate members, some believed to be wounded.
The incident comes amid wider security concerns in Oyo State, including the May 15 abduction of over 40 students and teachers in Oriire LGA who remain in captivity. Police say investigations into the Adelabu family abduction continue.
Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, thanked security agencies, the media, and stakeholders for their efforts.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has set 2028 as the deadline to eliminate failed electronic transactions across POS, ATMs, and mobile transfers under its _Payment System Vision 2028_.
The new directive mandates banks and fintechs to implement instant automated reversals, maintain 99.9% uptime, and face sanctions for high failure rates. CBN will launch real-time monitoring of all transactions to enforce compliance.
With over 11.1 billion electronic payments recorded in 2023, failure rates of 1.5% to 3% mean millions of Nigerians routinely deal with debited-but-failed payments.
“Customers should not bear the cost of system inefficiency,” a CBN official said, confirming the circular. Banks risk fines and license reviews if they miss the 2028 target.
POS operators and consumer groups welcomed the move but cited poor network and power supply as major hurdles beyond banks’ control.
For now, CBN says Nigerians should report reversal delays beyond 24 hours to cpd@cbn.gov.ng or 0700 225 5226.
Iperu, Ogun State — The Ogun State Government has inaugurated a multi-agency Safe School Response Team following the May 15, 2026 abduction of 39 students and seven teachers from three schools in Oyo State’s Oriire LGA.
Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the move Wednesday during Eid-el-Kabir, citing rising kidnapping in Nigerian schools and security threats in neighbouring states.
The team will deploy So-Safe Corps, Amotekun Corps, hunters, and vigilante groups to protect schools across Ogun. Implementation begins immediately, with stipends provided to support operatives.
“We need to do this to protect the lives of our future generation,” Abiodun said.
The Oyo attack, which killed one teacher, marked a rare expansion of mass school abductions into the Southwest. Ogun’s initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre, established in February 2023 to coordinate Nigeria school security nationwide.
The abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State has taken a troubling turn following reports of the demands allegedly made by the kidnappers.
According to information circulating online, the abductors are said to have demanded a ransom of ₦1 billion, the release of certain inmates, two Hilux vehicles, and other conditions. The reported demands have generated widespread concern among Nigerians, particularly as authorities continue efforts to secure the safe return of the victims.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing challenge of insecurity affecting schools and communities across the country. Parents, teachers, and civil society groups have called on security agencies to intensify rescue operations and strengthen measures aimed at protecting educational institutions.
Security analysts say the development highlights the need for improved intelligence gathering, stronger community policing, and a coordinated response to criminal activities targeting vulnerable populations.
While investigations continue, government officials have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could complicate ongoing rescue efforts.
The latest abduction has reignited national conversations about school safety, the protection of children, and the urgent need to address the broader security challenges facing the country.

Former Labour Party spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo has sparked fresh political debate ahead of the 2027 presidential election after claiming that a vote for Peter Obi could ultimately work in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
Okonkwo, who was a prominent supporter of Obi during the 2023 election campaign, argued that the opposition must prioritize unity and strategic alliances if it hopes to unseat the ruling party in the next general election.
According to him, a fragmented opposition could split votes among multiple candidates, potentially increasing the chances of the incumbent party retaining power. His remarks have generated mixed reactions among political observers and supporters across the country.
While some analysts agree that opposition parties may need a broad coalition to challenge the ruling APC effectively, others insist that every candidate has the democratic right to contest and allow voters to decide.
The statement comes amid growing discussions about possible political realignments, coalition talks, and power blocs ahead of the 2027 elections. With political actors already positioning themselves for the next presidential race, debates over strategy, alliances, and electoral calculations are expected to intensify in the coming months.
As reactions continue to trail Okonkwo's comments, the development highlights the evolving dynamics of Nigeria's opposition politics and the high stakes surrounding the battle for Aso Rock in 2027.
NaijaHelper1: Exactly the thing. There is nothing wrong with that. Two can play that game. Criminal APC say they had 10 million votes in the primaries. NDC ought to count 20 million. ADC, 15 million. Listen if you're crazy, there is someone who is crazier somewhere.

Critics are now accusing the ADC of doing the same thing it once accused the APC of — allegedly manufacturing figures to project political strength.
The videos have reignited debates about transparency, political optics, and credibility in Nigeria’s political space ahead of future elections.
