TME 419: the 6-Month game changer in cassava business . The TME 419 is a hybrid cassava stem developed by IITA

So, What are the benefits of TME 419 from other cassava varieties?
-Early harvest(6-10 months, your cassava is ready)
-High yeild(30tons per hectare)
-High survival rate and resistance to disease (the nodes do not die easily after planting)
-Can be intercropped because of its branchlessness-can even serve as stakes for yam
-High dry matter and starch quality hence good food garri, fufu and even animal feed
-The cassava stems is big money now
-the demand is currently more than supply

So, can TME 419 really be harvested at 6 months as opined by IITA?

Well, according to information from practical farmer in the field :
"Any cassava you are harvesting at 6 months is just Wastage"

"Harvesting in 6 months is just like training your cat fish to table size... Best time is 9-12months"

"You can harvest in 6 months but it will not be like the one you harvested in 10 to 12 months, if you're expecting 30ton in one hectare in 9 to 12 months definitely you won't get that in 6 months"

"... let him harvest at 6 months and at 9 months and above. He will be able to know which is better. It's a practical thing any one can do"

"don't try to harvest at six months my brother,9 to 10 months and upward is better. Practical experience is better..."

So, from information gathered from different practical farmers online, 9-10 months is the best time to harvest. After 12 months, it starts rottening in the soil. Its not like you can't harvest at 6 months but can you maintain good agronomic practices and maintain your farm like IITA?

How many stem is in a bundle? We have 50 fresh cassava cutting per bundle. The stem is about 1metre

How many bundles can I plant on one plot? 3

On what planting distance? 1mx1m
50 bundles per hectare(15plots)

Or you plant at 75cm by 1m to get 4 bundles per plot and 60 bundles per hectare

Now, I want to farm cassava, how do I start?
-Go and get knowledge so you don't invest wrongly
-Prepare your land well: clear the field and make ridges
-Plant healthy cassava stem cuttings
-keep weed and pest away. The cassava doesn't need to compete with weeds abeg
-Harvest when due(from 9-12 months)

Where can I get TME 419 in Enugu? Whatsapp 08061204834

How can I get it outside Enugu? Send a Whatsapp message to 08061204834

Malay apple, the backyard money maker, is a tropical apple tree that requires ample humidity, high rainfall, and no frost or cold conditions to thrive. It grows very well in Nigeria.

According to Gbenga, “I was introduced to the fruit while visiting my aunt’s place in Lagos in 2005. It would fruit like crazy and since we could not eat all of them we would invite people to pick them. We assumed they were taking them home only to later learn they were being sold at the nearby Balogun Market,”

Each Malay apple tree is capable of producing about 2000 apples per harvest when the tree reaches its full fruit-bearing capacity and you can harvest like 2-3 times per year. infact, this species of apple can produce more fruits as compared to the common species. it has the ability to live for over a hundred years

Malay apples have the highest juice content as compared to other apple species.

You can plant Malay apples in your farm or garden, school, park and home. You can also go into commercial Malay apple plantation

Malay apple is highly nutritious and medicinal, it has sweet sour taste and can be eaten as food or used for fruit juice, fruit salad, cider vinegar, jam etc

Soursop is fast becoming a luxury fruit in Nigeria in recent years following this perception that it has anti cancer properties. The demand in recent years has increased that many people can't even remember the last time they had soursop. The good thing is that this demand has opened the door of lucrative business opportunity for farmers and smart investors

Surprisingly, the soursop fruit is not the only thing in demand rather the leaves which are used for soursop powder or for making soursop tea has also become a huge market

So, you either key into the value chain dealing with production of fresh fruits or you focus on just producing the leaves

A single soursop tree can produce up to 60-80 fruits per year, with an average price of ₦500 each(just kidding because it actually costs more). This translates to:

₦30,000 - ₦40,000 per tree annually

With proper cultivation and management, a soursop farm can generate good revenue for you

Health Benefits:
Traditionally, soursop has been used to treat various health issues, including:

Cancer treatment and prevention
Fever reduction
Digestive issues
Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory propertie

So you see, planting soursop will not only give you money but will nourish your health and supply yummy fruits to you

Do you know that before the Supergene oil palm took the center stage, NIFOR Tenera was the reigning champion of oil palm varieties in Nigeria?

Tenera is a hybrid of Dura and Pisifera oil palm( from the picture below, you could see that the Pisifera has so much flesh and almost no shell while the Dura has more shell than flesh.

So Tenera is a cross between thick-shelled Dura and shell-less Pisifera giving birth to a thin shelled, medium/high fleshed, high oil content Tenera.😍

Tenera is dwarfed, you start harvesting in 36 months and produces at least 18 bunch per cycle

NIFOR Tenera was developed by the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR). is a high-yielding, disease-resistant, and versatile oil palm variety that was once the pride of Nigeria's oil palm industry.

Why should I invest on NIFOR Tenera?

1. High Yield: NIFOR Tenera produces high-quality oil with a high yield, making it an attractive choice for farmers and processors.
2. Disease Resistance: This variety is resistant to diseases such as the oil palm bunchy top disease, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable crop.
3. Versatility: NIFOR Tenera can thrive in various environments and is suitable for small-scale and large-scale farming.
How many palms do I need per plot? You need just 10-13 palms planted on a 8mx8m or 9mx9m apart

Whst other crops can I intercrop with these oil palm? During its early years, you can inter crop oil palm with cassava, maize, yam and annual plants or crops, maintain a good round spacing of at least 1m or 3fts from the inte cropped plant or crop

You can carry out the practice for up to 5yrs plus,
Please while carrying out this, be mindful not to disturb the fronds of the palm

My brethren, this is 2025, another opportunity to invest in your future and have rest at retirement.

In my post on supergene oil palm, I saw some people insulting Nigeria because they heard Malaysians took their oil palm seeds from Nigeria, went home, improved on it and see where they are today? They are the highest producers of oil palm in the world

Yes, we should really be ashamed of ourselves for abandoning palm oil because we discovered crude oil but nevertheless, we can still do something our children will be proud of today.

Plant a palm tree today and contribute to the economic growth of this country and also enjoy future financial benefits

We have 4 varieties of palm in our nursery:
1. The dwarf hybrid supergene N2500
2. The hybrid dwarf Tenera N1000
3. The hybrid dwarf Dura N1000
4. The indigenous Ojukwu palm N1000

Coconut trees have a lifespan of 60+ years so you will enjoy it now and generation to come will also enjoy it

If you have 20 trees of coconut, over a million naira annual revenue is guaranteed. My coconut tree gives over 120 big fruits each per season which translates to over 50k. I sell one fruit N400-N600 depending on the size. This is the minimum you can get if you take care of the tree. Please stop procrastinating, the second best time to plant is now"
