The Ojukwu oil palm is a rare and special breed of oil palm tree. In Igbo culture, its name "Akwụ Ojukwu," translates to "defense," and it's believed to shield people from negative forces, bad energy and harmful intentions.

Back in the ancient times, many households in Igboland had akwụ Ojukwu in their homes but I am not sure it's still obtainable today. I think Ojukwu palm might just become one of those #forgottenfoods soon if we do not make deliberate effort to plant them.

The Ojukwu palm tree is a rare sight, it is special and the oil has a different color from the regular red oil.

6. Weed regularly (2-3 times during the growing season)
7. Harvest after 3-4 months when the leaves turn yellow and the skin color intensifies
