Embrace Pomegranate Farming in Nigeria and smile later.

This exotic Brazilian Cherry (Pitanga) is small ribbed fruit that looks like miniature pumpkin, turns from green-yellow-orange-bright red to deep burgundy when ripe. Interesting, right?🥰

It is a dual-purpose "super-fruit" that is rapidly becoming a favorite for Nigerian gardens and exotic fruit collectors.

This tree offers more than just beauty; it is a high-yield investment for your health and pocket.

1. Pitanga serves as an excellent "edible hedge." Its dense, evergreen foliage makes it a perfect living fence to secure your property while providing a continuous harvest of delicious berries.

2. Unlike many fruit trees, Pitanga is a fast grower. Seedlings typically begin fruiting within 2–3 years, and in can fruit twice a year

3. Pitanga fruit is one of the highest natural sources of Vitamin A and is packed with Vitamin C and Lycopene. It’s a natural immune booster that also aids digestion and heart health.

4. Pitanga tree is incredibly drought-tolerant and thrives in most Nigerian soil types. Whether you have a large plantation or just a small backyard, it fits perfectly—it even flourishes in large containers

5. Beyond eating fresh, Pitanga berries are highly sought after for making premium jams, jellies, juices, and even medicinal teas from the aromatic leaves.

6. It requires minimal fertilization and is naturally resistant to most pests. Once established, it can provide fruit for decades with very little maintenance.

7. Pitanga fruit has a high market value just like all other exotic fruits like pomegranate, apple, plum sold in big balls so farming pitanga in Nigeria is an investment that would yield positive result

Is the pitanga fruit sweet? Well, The sweetness of a Brazilian Cherry (Pitanga) all depends on the color it is when you eat it

If you eat it at the wrong time, it can be quite tart or resinous, but when handled right, it’s delicious.

The best time to eat is when the fruit has turned deep crimson red/Black, a very dark, purplish-black and falls into your hand at the slightest touch, it is sweet and juicy with a unique spicy undertone.

If you pick it when it’s just bright red, it will be sharp, acidic and tangy (similar to a very tart cranberry or a sour cherry.

Redman44:
Can you put a price to each seedling? Thanks.

Sorry, I can't because their prices do change but the write up here remains. 10 years from now, someone will search and bump into this post, chats me up and starts saying I posted the price is xyz without realising it's a post of 10 years ago

Anyone interested should send a message on WhatsApp +2348061204834 or DM any of our social media pages @TustarsFarms
