The mindset of his era is quite different. for a leader to truly serve, he has to be selfless. That's the issue with leadership in the 21st century, most are there to enrich themselves, buying private jets, living lavishly. Awolowo has only one modest house in Ikenne that I know of

Odu’a Investment records N4.29 billion turnover



•Pays N150m dividend to owner-states
Odu’a Investment Company Limited, a conglomerate owned by the five South Western states, recorded a revenue of N4.29 billion in last year, against N4.51 billion recorded in 2013 – a five percent decline.

The company however recorded N759 million profit before tax in the year under review, showing a 53 per cent increase over N495 million achieved in 2013.

Similarly, its earnings per share (EPS) also rose by 98 per cent from N0.72 in 2013 to N1.43 last year.

Given the stride recorded by the conglomerate over the last one year, the board of directors have declared a dividend of N150 million, representing 26.1 kobo per share payable to its five shareholder states of Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, and Ekiti, after non – declaration for a period of six years.

The company’s chairman, Chief Isaac Akintade, while speaking at its 33rd yearly general meeting of the shareholders, expressed delight at the performance of the conglomerate, against its relatively low performance in 2012 and 2013 financial years, due to the prevailing economic situation in the country then, assuring of a brighter outlook in the coming years.

While giving a breakdown of the company’s financials at the meeting attended by all directors as well as the Secretary to the state government from each of the owner states, the Group Managing Director, Adewale Raji said “the payment of dividend is a commitment that we vowed to maintain, considering that we have not paid dividend in the past six years.”

He maintained that the result so far had indicated that the company was gradually improving in its operations, despite the five per cent decline in its revenue.

Raji said that he was optimistic of improved growth for the company in the future, going by its 2015-2019 strategic plans.

I don't know why, but i know it has been like that since. Remember the story of the lady in the bible caught in the act of adultery that was brought to Jesus? she was caught in the act, certainly with a guy, but she was going to be stoned alone.
Also in the era of kings and queens in Europe, princesses are expected to marry as virgins, while princes are not. for some reasons, women are expected to have a higher moral standard than men. reasons for this, I do not know

Btw, I think I'm beginning to appreciate the effect the current financial crises precipitated by the dip in crude prices is having on most states of the federation. I mean, it's triggering a paradigm shift in the thinking of state governors who formerly were over-dependent on monthly allocations from the center -- I guess they grew lazy over time. The focus is now on IGR, which stimulates creativity on the part of the governors who now have to do more to generate more and more revenue to run their states. This will definitely put them under a lot of pressure to be creative, competitive relative to their peers, and ultimately deliver the dividends of good governance.

I think that monthly allocation thing has stunted the growth of most southern states. Just like a 30 year old man still receiving allowance from dad, he will never push himself to be enterprising. Although this new paradigm of increasing IGR is coming late, but better late than never.
We need to start tapping into other potentials, and most importantly, empower the populace, the stronger the middle class, the better the economy.

Same here, i think true federalism is the way to go, if that is not achievable, then secession. But my concern is leadership, after awolowo, i can't think of any visionary leader, only fashola comes close. reading about awolowo, and what he achieved without money from crude oil, I feel like slapping all our leaders, who have had access to much more money

For me his biggest problem was the fact that he was over-ambitious.He embarked on too many projects in his first term.Osun state doesn't have the wealth to carry on with those projects



APC will most likely still retain osun state.Its not like PDP has anything to bring to the table.Osun people love him i tell you.The whole salary issue might be a blemish but those who love him are fanatical and they are in the majority

I hope so, I dont want anything PDP in SW. Not an 100% APC fan, but will prefer KOWA or LP to PDP

This is exactly my position too. if SW should secede today, am confident of ogun, lagos, oyo and ondo. Ekiti and osun are also my fears. Aregbe will make it difficult for APC to win next election in the state

Leadership is not easy, it means making the correct decisions for others who will not appreciate it. Requires you to be firm not necessarily strong and yet flexible. Its a paradox I tell u but the fact remains people will judge you by your results and not your best intentions or actions.

I think that is the issue Ambode is facing, he is trying to be popular with the people, but it will back fire. The same people will hate him for it. LASTMA over used the power they had, i agree, but i think that is till the best option since it worked to some extent.

In most cases guys are expected to spend money, call more, initiate conversation more and seamlessly have to impress their woman when in a relationship. Bearing this onerous task in mind, it's easier for a guy to stay single. In doing so, no drama and more savings for him.

A guy doesn't need to involve in a relationship to have sex. A guy can fvck without emotional attachment but ladies mostly rely on how nice you treat them before they can indulge. In view of this, a sexually active girl is in dire need of a relationship than guys. Escorts haven't down tools yet.

Among peers female feel the constant need to talk about their boyfriend than its the case with male. When her friends all have boyfriends and talk fondly about them when hanging out she feel pressure to have one for herself and get concern about her looks being responsible for her inability to attract a guy. Women subconsciously need a man to validate their beauty

It's easier for a guy to commit himself to staying single and maintain it but more strenous for ladies. Reason being that guys will never stop approaching them which can prompt them to settle for one at some point amidst consistent persuasion.

Women feel more pressured to get married than men. Society have conditioned them to get married if they want to be accorded respect. Else, they risk being tagged hoes and other condescending names.

Finally, women tend to have more monetary needs than men. They are more prone to compete against themselves than men in terms of acquisition. She's got trendy hair style to do, nails, eyelashes, shoes etc whereas guys aren't easily swayed by such mundane stuff. And for an unemployed lady whose parents can't afford these stuff and want to belong in the midst of her friends, there's a dire need to have boyfriend who can fund her lifestyle.

You just said everything i have on my mind. A guy can decide to stay single, and remain single, much difficult for ladies.
