Although the ongoing National Conference will soon come to an end, history is about to be made inspite of the fire works going on at the venie. When President Goodluck Jonathan made up his mind to convene the confab, he probably never knew that some people had another positive agenda up their sleeves.

While delegates were sent there to contribute their quota on how to solve the problems facing the country, some have different missions. A delegate from one of the vocal geo-political zones aged between 55 and 60 has fallen in love with another delegate aged between 60 and 65.

It was learnt that these love birds have already concluded arrangements to tie the nuptial knot and will soon say, “Yes I do” to each other before the end of this year.

It was not clear what the marital status of one of them was as of the time of this report. But the other was said to have lost the spouse to the cold hands of death.

A 25 year old man, Shamsu Isa, yesterday told a magistrate court in Kano State that he impregnated his elder sister in error.

Isa spoke shortly after appearing before the court, following a report made by the Ward Head of the Takalmawa Quarters, to the police that the accused person was having sexual intercourse with his elder sister, contrary to the law.

The First Information Report by the police stated that a case of incest was reported to the police following the discovery that Isa’s elder sister, identified as Na’ima was carrying her younger brother’s baby.

“On July 4, 2014, the Ward Head of Takalmawa Quarters reported to the police that, Shamsu Isa was having sexual intercourse with his elder sister.

However, when the charge was read to Isa, he said: ‘’the allegation levelled against me is true. All that had been read against me, is true, it was a mistake, I mistakenly impregnated her, my elder sister.”

According to the charge, the accused person committed “incest contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code Law’’.

Naima Isa, 27, is believed to have a weak mind.

The prosecutor, Corporal Ibrahim Abdulrazak applied for the matter to be adjourned to another date, to enable the police conclude investigations into the case.

The Senior Magistrate, Ummi Sani Kurawa, while delivering her ruling, ordered that, Isa be remanded in prison custody, and adjourned the matter to August 4, for mention.

Wonders shall never! A 25-year-old man, Shamsu Isa, confessed before the Kano senior magistrates’ court No 25 sitting in Nomans-Land, that he impregnated his 27-year-old sister, but that “the act was a mistake.”
According to the ward head of Takalmawa quarters in Kano, a report was made to police that Isa was having séxual intercourse with his elder sister.
The charge against him reads: “On July 4, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters reported at Jakara Division that on July 1, you, Shamsu Isa had séxual intercourse with your sister.” 
However, the prosecution told the court that his sister, Naima Isa, aged 27 was pregnant, adding that she had a feeble mind...

While responding to the allegation slammed against him, the accused told the court that it was true. “All that has been read against me is true... It was a mistake.”

The prosecutor, Ibrahim Abdulrazak, told the court it lacked jurisdiction to preside over the matter and applied for an adjournment, saying it would enable the police conclude investigation of the case.

At least 15 passengers, including motorists were killed when some gunmen suspected to be members of dreaded Boko Haram terrorists laid ambush along Maiduguri -Mafa- Dikwa Road yesterday at about 2:30pm.

Mafa is about 45 kilometres East, while Dikwa is about 70 kilometres drive from Maiduguri that had suffered series of deadly attacks by terrorists in recent times.

The attack on passengers and motorists on this road is the latest by the terror sect Boko Haram, even as the Maiduguri- Damboa -Biu, and Maiduguri- Bama -Gwoza roads have remained a death trap with no security effort to stop the carnage as most people have abandoned these roads for fear of being killed by terrorists who have so far taken over most of the villages along the main road linking the state capital.

Sources said, the gunmen who attacked passengers wore military camouflage uniforms; disguised as soldiers on the main road and intercepted three vehicles with two heading towards Dikwa, while the other was from Gamboru Ngala, a border town with Cameroon Republic before opening fire on the occupants killing over 15 of them and injuring seven others.

A reliable security source told Vanguard that information available to us this evening indicated that the Maiduguri Dikwa road is not safe as terrorists laid ambush on passengers and motorists, killing over 15 of them at about 2:30pm, some of our men have been mobilised to the scene, but unfortunately, they only met those killed and the injured in the pool of their blood as the attackers have fled into the surrounding bushes after the carnage, he said.

LATEST REPORTS COMING IN FROM ABUJA, THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERROTIRY, INDICATE THAT THEPRESIDENT OF NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION, NFF, AMINU MAIGARI, WHO WAS ARRESTED IN ABUJA EARLY HOURS OF FRIDAY, 4 JULY, 2014 BY THE NIGERIA STATE SECURITY SERVICES (SSS), HAS BEEN RELEASED.

It was gathered that no reason was given for his arrest.

Earlier reports had stated that Maigari was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja by security operatives after he returned to the countrywith the Super Eagles.

Analysts are already saying the arrest of the football boss may be connected to the sacking ofthe entire board of the NFF by a court in Jos, Plateau State on Monday, 30 June, 2014.

According to the court order, Maigari and his board members were restrained from acting as administrators of the NFF.

The suit was filed by former Nigeria Premier League chairman Rumson Baribote, who requested the court to restrain Maigari and all the committee and congress of the NFF from managing the affairs of football matters in Nigeria.

Hon. Justice P. L Lot of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos granted the Order of Interlocutory Injunction restraining the president of the NFF, the executive committee members as well as the NFF Congress from running affairs of Nigerian football pending the determination of the Motion on Notice before the court.

Gongnews.net had reported that Maigari have queries to answer with the security agencies one of which was the issue of his alleged fake grade III Teachers certificate with which he contested the office of NFF president.

As at the time of compiling this report, the NFF has not released any statement on the arrest of Maigari neither deny the news of the fake certificate scandal charged against him.

Meanwhile, Channels TV reports that coach Stephen Keshi led the Eagles into the country in the early hours of today.

The Nigerian national football team were ousted from the Mundial after they weredefeated 0-2 by France in the round of 16of the football showpiece.

In an interview with sports writers at the airport, coach Keshi said the team would have loved to progress beyond the round of 16 but expressed gratitude to God for the outing in Brazil.

When asked onmedia reports of his resignation immediately after the match against France,Keshi was reported to have said that he had not resigned.

It could be recalled that it was reported on Thursday, 3 July, 2014, thatKeshi had been offered a new contract by the Nigerian football governing body.

The Defence Headquarters has said they have not rescued the missing Chibok girls from Sambisa Forest because they are trying to get them out alive, without causing harm to them.

Speaking yesterday, July 3 with Leadership in Abuja, the director of information at the Defence Headquarters, Major General Chris Olukolade said they are working to get the girls back alive in the best way possible.

"To the best of our knowledge, they are still accessible. If we tried to force our way in, they may be killed. If we force our way there, they will kill them. This is what we want to avoid at all cost; rescue operations of that nature should not be done in a hurry. Sambisa (forest) is not impenetrable. But let me say it here: they mined almost everywhere around where they are keeping these girls," he said.

He explained that some elements were trying to politicise the operation of the Military but they would not e drawn into politics.

Speaking about the N130 billion given to the military as part of funding for counter-insurgency operation, Olukolade said not the whole amount of some amount were for salaries of privates and officers, including their pension, adding that if Nigerians knew the details of how the money was being spent, they would commend the military for being prudent.

He therefore appealed to the media and the people of Nigeria to try as much as possible to protect the military which belong to all irrespective of their religious and political persuasions.

It would be recalled that afterBoko Haram abducted more than 200 girlsfrom Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State during a night raid, the Federal government started making efforts to find the girls and bring them home alive.

In May, the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, had stated that theNigerian security leadership had located where members of Boko Haram were holding the abducted girlsbut that would not use force to rescue the girls in order to prevent the terrorists from killing them.
