TravelAdvice: Old And Travelling Alone by semse(op): 8:36am On Jul 24, 2015
My mother-in-law has been granted visa to come and help us take care of our baby in Canada. The issue now is how she will be coming. This is because she is above 80years, does not speak a single English, and not so in a good health (currently taking several medications). I spoke to my husband regarding this before applying but he feel there will always be a way for her to come. Now we are seeking for that way. Is there any preferable airline that gives good traveling assistance to people in this category. Am kind of worried about her journey. Advice needed please.
FamilyRe: How Do I Encourage Him, Please? by semse(op): 7:06pm On Oct 24, 2013
Thanks everyone. About the issue of saving money, I have discussed it with him, but he says the business he is really interested in requires a lot of money which might take years to save except a miracle happens. I have encouraged him also to look into something that requires a smaller capital but he says he cannot start doing petty business that requires small capital.

I am married to a wonderful man for close to two years now. I know he loves me so much and wants the best for me. He has spent so much to ensure that I get to the peak of my career and become successful, but the problem I have is that I want him to move forward also. Right now, am at the peak of my career, working in a good place, and have good friends while he seems 'stagnant'. What I mean is that he is not so educated but was very high business minded, but after the business he was into went down, he channeled the little money he saved to me, he says he want to make sure he settles me financially and otherwise before he will start something for himself. I really have a problem with this because I am human and a woman. At times I question him why he trust me so much, what if I change (though I do not have the mind to), but anything can happen. Right now, I am provide everything in the house, though i am not complaining. I just want matured opinion on how to make him focus on moving his life forward and stop depending on settling me. Anytime I tell him that he needs to start something for himself, he just says he knows but he wants me to be settled and become very successful first. How do I encourage him to start something now? sometimes, I feel he is scared that he might fail again, but how do I encourage him to forge ahead?
FamilyIs This Fear Or Respect! by semse(op): 3:46am On Apr 10, 2013
I have this friend that before she does anything back in Nigeria, she always inform her husband first. If he agrees with it, then she does it and the other way round. Now she is out of the country, away from her husband for a period of time, and when her new friends invite her for occasions (movies, clubbing, parties etc), she can't give her definite respond because she doesn't know if her husband will approve of it or not. she just say "I will have to ask my husband first". (she has just a land line in her house which makes communicating with her husband not instant). She is kind of confused because her friends mocks her that she is too afraid of her husband. She confided in me that the truth is if she goes outing without her husband's permission, she might offend him. Is this act of hers appropriate? Is she really afraid of her husband as her friends say, or is it that she only respects her husband feelings? I don't know the answer that's why I brought it to nairaland for opinions.
FamilyComment Pls, If You Agree. by semse(op): 8:43pm On Apr 05, 2013
I recently read a post which says "the best thing that can happen to a woman after the love of Christ, is the love of her husband".
I totally agree with this quote, and I think its high time to let the singles know that marriage is not that scary and difficult as the society is painting it to be. There are lots of couple enjoying their marriage today, and you too can. Follow the principle of love and submission as stated in the bible and see it work out fine for you.
FamilyRe: Is My Case Different? by semse(op): 12:41am On Mar 18, 2013
Thanks y'all. I think from some comments, I have gotten some things right. I was only concern when I started reading about books/articles on marriage and how emphasis was placed on sex and finance as the major cause of marital problems, that was when I had a rethink and started having questions.

I really want to find out if there are other married women like me or if my case is different. I am currently married to a man I love so and I know he loves me so much too. we met back at the university and we were very close friends. We decided to get married April last year. The issue is that I see him more like a friend than a husband. I mean our marriage is more like a platonic relationship. I love it when he holds me, when I rest on his chest, the hugs, jist, going out and every other thing, but we do not have sex often (like once in two weeks or more). We live in same house, sleep in same room, eat in same plate, but sex is always least on our minds, and I am sure he is not cheating on me, neither have I ever thought of cheating on him. He has never complained neither have I because we are perfectly fine with it, but what I read online and in books about marriage and sex, how sex keeps marriage going, and other stuff is quite different from what I am experiencing. We are more like friends than ‘husband and wife.’ Is this supposed to be?
