2010-2014 corrola?
Change engine oil at specified intervals (5000-6000 miles) using manufacturer specifications (5W30-5W20) I'm really not certain which but its written on the oil cap, along with oil filter.
Don't patronise road side mechanics, look for one that is learned.
Buy you own personal hand held scanner so you can understand faults if the arise.
Do not remove your thermostat or connect your fans directly. |

bravolad: Fuel economy is out of the equation when considering an SUV with a 3.5l v6 engine that produces 265 hp and 253 lb.ft with a gross weight of about 4451 lb. Expect a further drop in mpg because of the quality of fuel imported into Nigeria. Yet, if decide to go with the Allwheel model, a drastic reduction in mpg should be anticipated.
In terms of the differences between the year models, I do not think there's much of a difference. Noticeable difference is the fact that the 2005 model has a satellite controlled GPS and standard XM Satelite Radio. I do not know how well these devices are supported in Nigeria. On the Touring Edition, you also have the Bluetooth hands-free cell phone interface. I think the GPS in the 2003 model is disc operated.
There was a recall for the 2005 - 2006 models due to Transmission harsh shifting. So you need to be sure it's corrected in anyone you choose to buy. When buying a Nigerian used, be sure it is serviced with the right engine oil & transmission fluid at the recommended intervals. Get a competent garage or mechanic to help you with basic checks in addition to obtaining a VIN report, absolutely essential. Even though it's been used here.
About 3 to 4 years ago, a colleague of mine used it and it served him well. As I have always said, maintenance is paramount to durability and efficiency. Personally, I will choose the 2005 model over the 2003 model. bro, U have said all I wanted to say.....kudos |

oil can also leak between gaskets of the housing Bro, u jst want to comment so dat u wil shw d world u are an expert or wat? He stated dat his car is a Camry Pencil light, all pencil light camry has an axle dat propels the shaft, then the shaft propels wheels. 1999 camry (pencil light) has 4 types of oils it uses, namely: power steering oil, Engine oil, transmission oil and the Axle oil. If u feel dat is only cars with 4wd or rear drive dat has an axle then u are stil living in ur Peugeot 504 and pickup days. lonelydora: Engine capacity is the volume of air-fuel mixture the cylinders can contain from TDC(Top Dead Ccentre) to BDC( Bottom Dead Center).
Assuming you are to pour water in the cylinders, 2.2 litres is the total amount of water all the 4 cylinders will contain. The higher the engine capacity the more power the car will generate.(There is more to this) thks ur post cleared me.....I appreciate |

obicentlis: Update: After waiting for the scanner I ordered from konga.com over a week without any sign of them, I had to change the transmission after changing the atf. But my present worry is the atf leaking. After changing the gear box, I tried to test the car on the highway, on speed of 80km , I noticed something like smoke coming out of the bonnet. I stopped and saw fire on the exhaust pipe as a result of atf leakage. Almost all the atf used was on the ground. I really don't understand what is the problem . Please , what could cause the leakage and what can I do, I'm kinda frustrated. 1. Bolt at gearbox bottom plate wasn't properly tied, 2. The gasket or blackgum used wasn't properly applied. Start s car pull d parking brakes , put wedge, put in on drive and go under d car, u wil surely see where d leakage is Coming from. 3. Sometimes leakage comes through the dipstick if not properly closed . Thanks |

Car Talk › Re: Gearbox Leaking Oil In Camry Tiny Light by senator2k9(m): 1:03pm On Jan 12, 2015 |
Bro u didn't tell us which oil was leaking. U knw ur gearbox uses 2 types of oil. The Gear oil and the axle Oil. If its the gear oil oil den its probably frm the bottom plate, buy a bottom plate gasket n make sure all d knots are properly tied. Bt if its frm d axle then perhaps its d axle oil seal. Make sure ur mechanic washes the entire axle wit fuel so dat u can check if the new oil seal he puts is not stil leaking, pix of d oil seal in d axle in d pix below. I once bought it for 1k, it could be more or less depends on ur location

GAZZUZZ: Seems you were sold a car with a bad engine, previous owner must have mixed a lot of oil treatment to hide the smoking engine. If I'm correct your "new" engine oil will blacken quickly. You can try a different oil incase I'm wrong. exactly my thought |

chukel: now this is the part I don't like. U r taking what gazzuz said out of context and misinterpreting it. Who said benz is not reliable. Y would he sleep on the road when he travels with it. My family house has benz 230E(flat boot), 300E(vboot) and a c class. They are so reliable that anytime u call on them they answer. It all depends on maintenance culture. U can have a toyota and still sleep on the road when u travel. what is this one saying? Do u read before commenting at all? A benz of 150,000 ? How much is bajaj motor cycle? Did ur family buy their benz at 150'k? Dat must be a moving casket. |

Did the thermostat work? I.e after replacing it? Check ur expansion valve also, there must be a blockage also.......also check ur AC return pipe(the pipe dat carries hot gas). If dat pipe is expired, or worn it wil start peeling its rubber components into the cooling system also. Remember I mentioned that the flushing should be done with the condenser also not jst d pipes. Pls check d dryer also, it might be blocked . The dryer is the gas filter

Car Talk › Re: Repeated Burning Of 08/09 Toyota Corolla Ac Compressor by senator2k9(m): 10:20am On Jan 05, 2015 |
1st pix is d dryer, while the other is the thermostat. Normally inbuilt bt when it is damaged, it can be replaced with this type in dis pix. Simple test for thermostat can be done. When d AC is on, watch compressor as it rotates, it wil MAGNET for like 5minues (or less) and stop for some few seconds and continues again. Bt if its working continuously. Knw dat either there's no thermostat or the one present is Bad. |
Car Talk › Re: Repeated Burning Of 08/09 Toyota Corolla Ac Compressor by senator2k9(m): 10:04am On Jan 05, 2015 |
Bro listen to my advice carefully. 1. Does ur compressor have a relay? If no, pls fix it sharply.. 2. This is d most important one......if ur AC system does not have a THERMOSTAT wired to it, it wil make ur compressor to be working continuously, there by knocking the compressor in less than a week of usage. The thermostat regulates the compressor, switch it off wen its becoming too cold frm d inside n allows d compressor to breathe. I wil snap my own n show u. 3. Does he add compressor oil before adding gas? This could knock n compressor too. 4. They might be a blockage in d entire system (u didn't tell us wat happened to d 1st compressor dat came with d car) let him get d entire system flushed down to the condenser. Some pple put thinner in d system and use a vulcaniser to pump air into the system flushin out all d dirts in s system. Since the previous compressors have been knocking, u jst cnt replace another compressor without flushing. FLUSHING is necessary. 5. Finally, let ur technician change d dryer (AC filter), and also check the Expansion ValVe . I'm assuring u if all dese is done u wil thanks me a million. Wil upload pixs soon for u to see
