Education / Iyayi: ASUU Bans Procession For Late Leader by senrino(m): 2:41pm On Nov 20, 2013
National President, ASUU, Nasir Issa-Faggae
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has banned a faction of the union at the University of Ilorin, led by Professor Wahab Egbewole, from going ahead with its planned procession for the late Prof. Festus Iyayi.
The union said it was still mourning Iyayi, who died when a bus conveying some ASUU leaders was involved in an accident with a vehicle in the convoy of Kogi State Governor Idris Wada in Lokoja last week.
ASUU said it had not approved any procession for any of its branches. It also described the planned procession in Ilorin as hypocritical.
In a release issued in Ibadan on Tuesday and signed by the Zonal Coordinators of Ilorin and Ibadan zones, Dr. Ayan Adeleke and Dr. Adesola Nasir respectively, titled “Do not desecrate the memory of our late president,” ASUU said the national leadership of the union would not permit any attempt by any group in UNILORIN to desecrate the memory of its late leader.
“The attention of the union has been drawn to attempts by a group led by Prof. Wahab Egbewole of the University of Ilorin to desecrate the memory of the late former President of our union by issuing a notice of a so-called “procession” for him in the University of Ilorin,” the statement read in part.
It added that the factional leader had been expelled from the union and its activities.
The coordinators said Iyayi had during his lifetime spoken against the inhuman and degrading treatment being meted out to genuine members of the union in Ilorin, stressing that it would be wrong for a group to attempt to make publicity gains from his death.
They said, “Our late president, who in the past had suffered the same kind of degrading and inhuman treatment being meted out to genuine ASUU representatives in the University of Ilorin, constantly, spoke against the charlatanism of those who are illegally parading themselves as ASUU officials in the branch.
“Indeed, Iyayi was against everything that Egbewole and his group stand for in relation to ASUU. It is therefore the height of provocation and insensitivity for the group to seek to make publicity gains out of the death of our late former president.”

Education / ASUU Set To Meet On Friday, May Call Off Strike by senrino(m): 11:23am On Nov 19, 2013
From all indications, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is likely to hold its postponed National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Friday to discuss the Governments offer and decide
the way forward to putting an end to the indefinite strike action embark upon by the body.
It will be recalled that ASUU were to have their NEC meeting last week at the Bayero University, Kano, before the news of the demise of one time President of the body Festus Iyayi in a ghastly motor accident forced their hands to postpone the meeting.
The Union also urged the public to ignore speculations that ASUU has called off its NEC meeting indefinitely, explaining that the Union only postponed the NEC meeting as a mark of honour and respect for the late Iyayi.
An official who wants to remain anonymous confirmed that ASUU officials had last week Wednesday converged at the Bayero University, Kano, before news of Iyayi’s death filtered in.
The Union has been on strike since July 1 over the 2009 agreement it reached with the Federal Government.
All entreaties to call it off was rebuffed until President Goodluck Jonathan waded in with an offer of N1.1 trillion to be spread across the nation’s universities for a period of five years.
ASUU has said it will deliberate on Federal government’s offer and take a position after its forthcoming NEC.

Education / Iyayi's Family Refutes N50b Demand From Kogi Gov As Group Begs ASUU To Call Off by senrino(m): 9:43am On Nov 16, 2013
THE family of the late former President of the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),
Prof. Festus Iyayi, yesterday, disassociated
themselves from the N50billion demand from
the Kogi State
government over the death of their son, saying
that no amount of money can compensate for
the loss.
Meanwhile the Coalition to Save Nigeria (CSN)
has appealed to the striking ASUU members to
call off the strike action as a mark of respect for
Prof.Iyayi.
It would be recalled that the Onojie of Ugbegun,
home town of late Prof Iyayi, had demanded the
sum of N50bilion as compensation for the death
of their son.
However, Prof. Robert Ebewale, a cousin to the
deceased, told Vanguard yesterday that it was
embarrassing to try to equate the life of Prof
Iyayi with money, saying that the family was
embarrassed with N50billion demand.
“No amount of money can be compared with the
life of that calibre of person, so we want to
disassociate our family with that. It is
embarrassing to us,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Coalition to Save Nigeria (CSN)
received with shock the death of Prof. Iyayi,
Prof. Iyayi was an accomplished academic,
author and unionist and a detribalized Nigerian
who gave voice to the voiceless and defended
the defenceless against arbitrariness and
impunity by our public officers.
“With his death, the Nigerian revolutionary
movement has been decapitated as Prof. Iyayi
was one of the movement’s brain boxes in the
struggle for a better Nigeria where equity,
fairness and justice will reign. We have lost a
committed comrade and an icon of the struggle
for an egalitarian Nigeria. He was a true and
authentic comrade who devoted his entire life to
the struggle and died fighting for educational
justice for the present and future generations of
Nigerian students,” it stated.
The statement added: “We call on ASUU and the
federal government to speedily resolve the
remaining grey areas in their disagreement to
enable the suspension of the current ASUU strike
as a mark of respect to Prof. Iyayi”.

PortHarcourtBoy: Common Dey Gbam there!...Aboy balance!!

As you balance, as one hand point you gun, another hand dey feel your pocket for phone and wallet...

If only Austin Opara's "Elegen-Face Boys" knew about Eggon Ombatse people, dem for go cook themselves for Nassarawa before confronting Dey-Gbam Boys... it was sad Dey-Gbam boys buried a whole lotta Elegen-face Boys alive...

What of Germans and Icelanders??

Port Harcourt was a ghetto sha, reminds me of Grand Theft Auto, San Andreas (red and green scarf neighborhoods)

No kudos to Odili and Rotimi Amaechi for all these mess...

No attack me oh, I was born and bred in PH so I know how it all started and their sponsors...

Why on earth these cultists go drive their buses to populated junctions and open fire on innocent commuters??...

It happened more than 20 times in Port Harcourt...once at Education busstop, another at Eleme junction, on a sunday at RSUST back gate leaving about 30 dead, Best Bite area at GRA and the most bloody at Presidential busstop on a 31st December at 11:30pm were they nearly killed Timi Dakolo and left about 50 others dead...

Amaechi made the state ungovernable for Celestine Omehia, who knows, he might have sold the same idea to the Notherners to use against GEJ...

If not why did everywhere in PortHarcourt suddenly became calm immediately Omehia was removed and Amaechi sworn in??

Aboy weeda.... Abeg Ɲ̴̩̩̥̩̩̩̥O̲̣̣̥ dy run intel on wetin U̶̲̥̅̊ Ɲ̴̩̩̥̩̩̩̥O̲̣̣̥ Ɲ̴̩̩̥̩̩̩̥O̲̣̣̥ o°˚˚˚°º... I ß ptwn boi2 o°˚˚˚°º п̲̣̣̥̩̥ I ß twn boi,U̶̲̥̅̊ knw wat its means.. U̶̲̥̅̊ juz dy cab nonsense.

Mad Cow: LOL!!

Dey-Bam & Dey-Well have been terrorizing Rivers State since 1998 till date. grin
These boys were notorious at some point for robbing people of their phones. RSUST students even carried out a raid on them way back at UST back gate (Azikiwe Gate).
I lost some money and assesories to those hooligans back then. Now I hear that new groups have emerged as well.
This Dey-Bam boys and Dey-well Boys are the lowest breed of street urchins. You dont wanna cross their paths because their lives have no real value. If they die, even their parents wont cry for them. Dey-bam have over-run Diobu, D-line, The Rumus to Ogbunabali. Town is mostly Dey-well territory..

Anyways! I am way above their level of operation now. Even if their shit hits the fan, I'm too elevated for it to affect me.

In thy love i'm fit...
Love you both side(heaven&earth)...

This love...
Strongere than Billgate...
Solution dissolve...
Born to be mate...
My sweet suicide...

Your arms my dwelling...
In your love i grace in...
Take me away, let me pass on...
In this sweet suicide...

Breathing slowly bit bit...
Using my heart to count my teeth...
Because i'm gone...
