1kanma: Mi advise to all, if u can make it tomorrow come and do ur registration regardless of d geopolitical zone, cos wat I heard while d man made d announcement was dat dey where goin to camp only does pple whom there geopolitical zone falls today and ar yet to finish there reg, d rest shld go home. So am going back tomorrow and am very sure we will be attended to. And come to think of it d procedure for d reg is too much and exceed more dan one hour so y wait for ur own day wen u can go now. I spent all Mi day there and yet to be done.Exactly. |
Mannylex: No one should be confused about geo-political zone ish. One of the officials announced loud and clear that the geo-political zone used is your state of origin and not your school. So take note.Dude, if there is any confusion it's from the officials themselves. As at this evening some of the officials were all saying different things even while the announcements were going on. But the lady handing out the kits in my platoon said its the state so I think it's a safe bet to go with that. But, for those who stay close, come tomorrow and clarify! Then inform others. If you stay in Lagos, all it would cost you is the price of d T fare. And then you'd have been certain. I didn't plan on registering today. Just came to get info on the geo - political thing and then discovered I could. |
prixxy7: rily. Eya. Have U̶̲̥̅̊ finished ur registration? If no, we wil stil get to see on wednesday. And dis time, man up and holla a sisterLol. Funny. A UNIBEN brother is always manned up. If I had known twas you, would've met you right away. Was with two other UNIBEN friends. Now I know what you look like. If I see you again, I'd be the tall guy you're looking up to talk with . Yeah, just remaining the I. D card. |
@All. This morning they were answering everyone regardless of the geo - political zones. It was just this evening at a little after six, that they pointed out that we are more than the expected number that was designated for today and paused the registration exercise. Was lucky to be through with everything by then. The only thing left is to get my Nysc I. D card. Would be going to the bank soon to submit the bank forms giving to us. They say we are to report at the state secretariat on the 15th for our posting letters As to the controversies over the geo - political zones, evidence would seem to suggest that the officials themselves are as confused as we are. This morning while we were registering, the geo-political zone they asked for was the one where your school falls into. This evening, another official told me that it's the one your state of origin falls into. So they are also confused about it. I would just advice that you go as soon as you can to seek clarification. They are just saying different things. |
prixxy7: Reporting live from lagos camp. From left to right; mannylex, prixxy and ibulem. Mhen d queue ȋ̝̊̅§ sumtin else o. And D̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ won't even allow you go out unless you finish registration. So we r stuck up in here.Oh, so that's my fellow Uniben alumnus prixxy? I saw you this morning at the spot where we were getting the so called online registration form. Just behind that dining hall where they checked our call-up letters. If I had known would've holla'd. |
buksich: Ws postd 2schl ard orile-coker,teachin finz bt I dnt lyk teachin jawe,gt no choice anywyz.Alright dear. Thanks. All the best. BTW, were you posted under the Ministry of Education or the Ministry for Special Duties and did they tell you anything about state allowance? Thanks. |
Hissexcellencie: why would anyone work their service to a place where they don't even have a place to stay or know anyone innit?! Its hard to believe really. Anyways that being said, I think if you come at night from †ђξ east & explain ur predicament to em they'd let you in for dat period of ur registration. It wouldn't hurt to get one of †ђξ camp officials numbers to explain ur predicament to him/her so they can help you secure d accomodation in camp at least for that registration time. Also Nccf and/or Nacc depending on which one you belong shld have corpers lodge. Identify with them so you could drop ur things, register with Nysc/them & stay with them till u get better place (if u have †ђξ means) I think Nccf is on twitter. Buh u can also google both, for their addresses. I hope all affected peeps are helped by this. And pls make una no play this kain rough play again o.Spot on. |
lovelyngeee: Agents are now the problem in getting a house here in lagos..after hustling d main money for the she,u'll pay agency n agreement..they dnt just charge 1k as u say my dear...buh they make it relatively easy for u to get ur choice of a house, and fast..Exactly. If they can avoid the agents altogether the better for them. To start with, the allowee is not all that. Then there are living expenses to think of. It's LAGOS. You can get a house within a few days in Lagos if you're determined. Especially if you're just staying for a year. But if one can afford it, all the better. After all, some corpers rent plush apartments in high brow areas during their service year. Money does the talking.. |
yankeedudu01: It is DIFFICULT to get a house in LAGOS without an agent, to the Glory of God my Dad owns a house in Lagos, so I know little of how things work. It pays working with an agent, they charge just 1k to avoid stress. To get a good room self-con, with water in the compound, tiles, etc(my findings), 100-120k per year then the agreement/agency-Minimum of 40k. But just a room & not too conducive you get that from 70k-90k per year.Well, the difficulty or otherwise is relative to personal experience. During the few times I've had a cause to look for a crib in Giddi, I've always gone to scout for myself. Agents, I've discovered always tell you what you want to hear and usually don't tell you everything you need to know. I go myself or in company of friends and ask the people who live there about the light situation, security in the area and all such. And I like to meet the owner or person in charge of the compound personally. Except in cases where the agent is also in charge. If you've got ideas of places they can rent at an affordable rate you can point them in the right direction. Besides it's just for one year, they need not pay much. Agent fee will be an extra expense. How much con be the allowee wey them go get for the whole year. |
yankeedudu01: Hello Serpounce, does this 150k include agency and agreement? Ejigbo-Ikotun-(Igando is also a good, quite area)Egbeda-Ipaja axisIt might and it might not . It all depends on the landlord you meet and how you relate with him. Having said that, I'd advice one avoids agents altogether if possible. It's better one meets the landlord or lawyer in charge of the house personally. Once you've decided on the area you'd like to stay at, a day's walk around that area could yield positive results. Yes, Igando is another good one. But traffic, especially for those who would ply the Cele-Ikotun-Igando route could be a nightmare. |
UtchayPro: Hello house please I'm looking for accomodation options on the mainland... any information on where I can find a self contained in a decent area that's between 80-100k will be highly appreciated. And also, as a non-Lagosian(me) which area is generally fair traffic wise, is a bit cool (not filled with area boys and the like) and still has decent accomodation options.Men, I've been wracking my brains to find a decent option for you. But each falls short of all these your criteria. To put it simply, it's (almost) impossible to find a self - contained apartment in a DECENT area with fair TRAFFIC in Lagos at that price range man. You might have to come up on your budget to say around 150k. But your best bet would be to get a place around the Ejigbo-Ikotun-Egbeda-Ipaja axis and hope they post you close to where you'd be renting. If you even see a self - con at that 150 you'd be very lucky. That's one of the sure ways you wouldn't have to deal with much Lagos traffic. There are also other areas too. Others with more ideas should help him. But have it in mind that your budget might not be sufficient. Or you might look for another non-Lagosian to pool your funds with. Then your chances of getting a place remotely fitting your description would be higher. Hope I've helped you a bit. |
aircom: Alright bro.. Any idea on whr Buksich got assigned to..oNo. I mentioned her when I asked you guys where you were posted. She hasn't posted anything. |
aircom: Yeah bro.. glad 2 be of help..Please keep updating us if there is any info we should be aware of. Like the one you posted about keeping a copy of our PPA letters. Once again, happy service year guy. |
aircom: Well 4rm d info I gathered, I think the state alawee varies with respect to ministries n local government honestly, like those in d medical field cud earn close 2 70k-80k if dey re posted to ministry of health..B4 I went 2 my ppA I went 2 alausa secretariat to see if I also stood a chance only to be told dat the 15k state alawee re 4 dose assigned to ministry of special duties..Ministry of Education..n some of my peeps dat whr sent 2 STATE schls had "ministry of special duties" on their ppa letters..so dey went 2 alausa secretariat..4 registration, they were given number tags n told 2 come back on friday..Even if 600 corpers re goin 2 be given d alawee I fink its goin to be jus 300 4 d first stream and 300(let's say 50 slots were saved 4 preferred corpers in each stream) 4 d 2nd stream. D least dey cud do is play fair after denyin stream 2 guys orientation..4 d %. They re many o. It was jus I n a guy in my room dat didn't find ourselves in classrooms(out of 28 guys in a room)I'd say 60%..At my PPA, I didn't want 2 ask d woman who attended to I n my guy abt d alawee so as nt 2 create a bad impression buh when we left a batch A corper goin in asked us if we got assigned dere(lseb) I said yeah..I asked her if d place was fun..she replied " d pay is okay " n den walked into 2 building..I jus smiled n said in my head.." y didnt she jus give us a number..?" Hehehehe God deyMen, thanks Bro, your info has been very helpful. Which means seeing Ministry of Special Duties on one's PPA letter doesn't necessarily mean that one will serve at the secretariat, but it makes one eligible for the extra pay. Thanks a lot. All that remains is for us to see how ours is going to be, if some of us will get the pay and where we are going to serve. |
Mannylex: Guy one more question, the guy that got same ppa wiv u, do u have an idea on the location he put? Was it same wiv urs? Really would love Ikeja (could be lucky to get ministry of information technology *wink*) getting ppa on the Island is cool, but the traffic on third mainland bridge can make u cry.Not just traffic. You might end up spending more than half of your allowance on transportation. If not, the Island would have been good for getting a nice PPA. |
aircom: Thanks Bro..wish u also a favorable ppaThanks. Please apart from the supposed 15k for 600 Corpers, how much is the state allowance generally for all Corps members? And what would you say is the % of Corpers posted to schools in your stream from the ones you've seen. I have not heard of any so far. You're the experienced one now, no vex for our plenty questions. Thanks. |
tobyemmanuel: Not my business. I don open account for every bank in nigeria. Anywhere I see atm na to put their card in.Lol. Funny guy. So you'll carry all the bank ATM cards around with you everywhere you go? |
aircom: I put aguda, ogba as my location in the forms I was given, dats whr my aunt is based actually. NYSC tend to post you to d local government within d area u stated as ur Lagos residence in the forms u submitted 4 registration..Nice one bro. Congrats and have a good service year. |
automech: Hello house,Did you ask them about it when you submitted your letter? If you didn't, you should have. I heard they normally pay 15k to the first 600 people that show up at the secretariat (can't confirm this). Even at that, I doubt if 600 people would have already reported to the secretariat within that short time. They would have gotten their 'preferred people' long before that. That means we the Stream II guys are automatically cut out from it. P. S: Is the normal state allowance 10k for all Corpers posted to Government establishments in the state? I heard some get 5 or nothing at all. Have you got any info on this? |
Aircom, buksich and Co, where were you posted? |
Hissexcellencie: I go church as per Chineke boy wey I be......Wassssup utunu?Lol. Bad guy n'aga uka. |
Mannylex: As it stands, we might once again be the 'unlucky one's'.... The stream1 corpers would likely not be posted to schools due to the governments directive of schools not resuming. But we would get our own posting towards september ending which by then schools should have resumed. YES! Your guess is as good mine we could be posted to schools because stream 1 corpers would have filled up better establishments. But lets see how it goes, they would likely get their posting on WednesdayI was actually putting my hopes on it being the opposite. I hear they've already prepared the posting letters for them since the past week. Was hoping we would be the ones to benefit from the posting to other areas. But by Wednesday we would know for sure. If a significant number are not posted to schools, then we would know that to the NYSC management the stream two Corps members are insignificant. |
Askmydas: Bros eh...and there's no sign of them lifting the suspension anytime soon. The last time i checked, if you ain't serving, no allowance for you. Does dat also imply to those corpers that will be posted to schools? (any idea?)Well, they better make damn sure it's not 'idle'. We didn't ask for any of these. First, they make it compulsory for us to serve and pin one down for one year. They deny us the one thing most would say is the only memorable part of the service year. Now they say schools are to remain closed indefinitely. If they no con pay the small allowee join then na protests them they find. |
Askmydas: Despite d cancellation of corpers being posted to private firms & co, corpers still serve there. Govt can't stop private firms from requesting for the service of youth corpers. At the highlighted, my point exactly. Schools take majority of Corps members, so that means many will be idle till whenever they decide to reopen schools. It could be next week or in two months time. Cos with Naija govt, anything is possible. |
As it stands, there will be no camping as they've stated on their site. Except they change their decision in the coming days, it still stands. Let's try n move past that. What we should be asking is what plans they've put in place for posting to PPAs, since they say their decision to postpone orientation camp for us was "In consideration of the presidential pronouncement that all schools should not reopen at this time of national health emergency...". Since most corpers are posted to schools and schools are not reopening anytime soon, are we to just stay at home after collecting our PPA posting letters, until whenever they decide to reopen the schools or will they reconsider their position and post us to other sectors? Or will coming with request letters from organisations outside the recognized sectors be acceptable as a result of the present circumstances? To me, that's the more important question. Those with any ideas can share. P. S: Wey the former active peeps on this thread? Hissexcellencie, Youngmoniii, prixxy7, debbygirly n others? All I see these days are sort codes flying around . |
Robella: Hello house , happy Sunday...sorry to re visit this issue , I just want to know if anyone has heard about this "no camp for us " thingy on national news or any news...P.S : I know its on the website. goldstarpamela: I ve not heard despite my listening to news des days and DG NYSC keep replying that there'll b camp orientation for us..Don't jes know my stand for nowIt's safe to assume that it will be as they stated on the website. Except something happens within the next five days to make them change their decision. They've adhered to all the info they posted on that site so far. Including the division into two streams. |
prixxy7: pls wats dea email? I need d sort code ƒø̲̣̣я̅ uniben branch.careonline@gtbank.com or mention them on twitter @gtbank. They usually respond within the hour. |
faamo419: Boss wetin happen now I know talk to u now.. Why all the insult now did u go to sch at all? Was just telling my corper member that we have been payed fully.. Wetin come be ur own.. I beg no vex oooo. Even if it affect u in any way.. Pls forgive .. And pls mind the way u talk to pple ok...Peace man. I know you meant it in a good way but men been dey vex. You show say you be mature guy with this post. Nothing do you. We are all the same Lagos batch 'B' corpers. NYSC wan divide house but it won't work. You guys should just keep us updated when they start posting you to PPAs. Happy Service Year. |
Thanks to the guy who've been giving out the bank sort codes. But I'd still advise you all to go to the nearest branch of that bank to confirm it. Especially for the banks that merged or were acquired, to find out if they retained their old branch sort codes. To avoid stories of non-payment tomorrow. Shouldn't be that hard since there might be a branch of that bank close to your location. You can also send them a mail. I sent GTB a mail for the sort code of their Uselu area branch and they've replied promptly. |
yankeedudu01: You dey vex .Lol. Not at all. I don't worry about things I can't control. Will have to go to my branch for that sort code. But no hurry since 7th is still two weeks away. |
mikedimeji: Really! Missing? I laugh in Spanish. Pls u are from which planet? Becos they pay u 19800 + 2500 now u feel whoever is not there is missing. Na waooo any way... Youngmoniii: Guy park well joor, who send u msg?Lol. Boys dey vex. Youngmoniii calm down guy. Nothing sup. No be the guy fault, na NYSC. faamo419 enjoy your 19800. I know say na d euphoria of the 19800 carry you. Nothing do you. But no rub salt for men wound before they chop u raw. Calm down. |
usefaith: YES...Put down the price of each type and specific locations here for those that might be interested. |
