Hello friends, I have been following this thread slowly but surely, reading all the information as much as possible.

I am now post-ITA filling out my PR application. I now need your advice as pertains to recording my travel history.

I just remembered that at one time while living in the US, my friends and I were driving to a nearby city to visit friends. Unfortunately, we took the wrong turn and soon found ourselves headed to Canada! Once we realized we were going the wrong way, it was too late, we could not turn around or reverse (road signs indicated it would be illegal). So we had to approach the border and were instructed by the border officers that we would need to enter and exit Canada first and then re-enter the US in order to continue on our way.

My question is, do I need to include this in my travel history?despite the fact that it was not my intention to visit Canada on that day neither did we go past the border office and also we did not carry our passports only our school ID was used for identification.

Please advise, thank you.
You'll need to talk about it. This story sounds familiar. A friend of mine who had this same experience was questioned at the POE in Canada when she was visiting for a conference and this was years after the incident. The officer asked her what happened years ago at the US/Canada border she and her friends mistakenly entered.

By the way, were you heading to Michigan or attending a school in Ohio at that time grin?

The job title doesn't matter. Even your offer letter doesn't matter. I never submitted mine cause it listed some job duties i "was expected" to do that didn't tally at all with my noc. The only thing that matters with job experience proof is that it is on a letter headed paper, signed by a manager or h.r, lists certain information like start and end date, but most importantly that it has your job duties which must tally (not word for word) with your chosen NOC.

So morale of the story is that job experience proof is very much within your control.
Thank you for your answer. In a situation where the HR does not provide reference letters for interns, what can I do? My former supervisor is willing to provide a reference letter for me but without the company's letterhead because only the HR can provide that. Should I go ahead and ask him to provide his reference while I provide LOE stating why we couldn't use the company's letterhead. Also, I don't think I'll be able to get pay stubs or bank statements showing that I was paid because the account is dormant.

Edited: Will the addition of my offer letter be enough to validate this experience?

How sure are you about SIWES counting as work experience?
So, I used the search option in NL and searched for instances where people used SIWES to claim points. The search results allayed my fears and boosted my morale. By including my SIWES experience, my CRS points would be 478. Considering the way the draw is going, I'm left with no choice but to include it.
Now, I have a question. My offer letter for my SIWES states that my job title is simply Intern . However, I worked with the Information management team of my company and developed Microsoft Office Sharepoint websites. This was literally my major duty there.

What is the NOC that best fits this position/job duty? I'm thinking of using 2175 Web designers and developers but my only concern is that my job title does not specifically describe my job duties. I've read previous posts/threads where people were advised to use the NOC that best describes their job duties and I also understand that the reference letter from my employer would explicitly state my duties. So, I would like to ask what you think about this concern of mine. Thanks
