1st time applicant Thank you Jesus!
This platform has been a huge blessing to me from the days of applying for my US student visa, Canadian PR application and now my younger sister’s Canada student visa. This is my little way of giving back to this wonderful community
Application Submitted - March 10th, 2023 Biometrics done - March 17th, 2023 Medical request - March 27th, 2023 Medical passed - April 14th, 2023 BVL - April 20th, 2023 PPR - April 20th, 2023
Total application processing time - approximately 6 weeks
School - Memorial University of Newfoundland Degree - Bachelors
Having read the pages of this thread from page 1 to probably 100 (lost count), I felt I had enough information to kick start my younger sister’s study visa application. Spent some time writing a convincing SOP, explaining why she has been out of school for over 10 years, proof of funds, home ties (her child and small-scale business), her future plans etc
Documents Submitted:
IRCC FORMS 1. Application for Study Permit Made Outside of canada (IMM1294E) 2. Family Information form (IMM5645E) 3. Temporary Resident form (IMM5257B)
Applicant’s documents
1. Letter of Admission 2. Proof of confirmation of acceptance Deposit(300 CAD) 3. Birth Certificate 4. West African Examinations Council Senior School Certificate 5. International Passport Bio data page 6. Family picture (our parents, applicant, her child and her siblings) 7. Statement of Purpose 8. Vocational certificates 9. High school Transcript 10. Passport Photograph 11. Previous visa stamps to UAE 12. IELTS result 13. CAC certificate 14. Child’s birth certificate
Sponsor’s documents (i.e. my documents) 1. My offer letter 2. Six (6) months Statement of Account (over 30,000 USD) 3. Pay stubs for 6 months 4. My stocks (over 100,000 USD which isn’t yet vested) 5. Letter of sponsorship 6. Proof of previous financial commitments (I support her with monthly stipends, so I showed those bank transfers) 7. My Canadian PR Card 8. My Work ID 9. My passport data page
Please note that we never paid any tuition fee. Only confirmation of acceptance fee. Also, your age and long gap year should not deter you from studying or applying. My younger sister is 27 and she’s going for a bachelors degree.
Just putting this here to encourage someone.!! Don’t give up!!! |

Crime › Romance Scam: FBI Arrests 35 Nigerians In Scams Worth $117 Million by sesan01(op): 4:19am On Sep 25, 2021 |
35 Indicted in Romance Scheme That Siphoned $17 Million From Older Adults: DOJ
Federal investigators with the Department of Justice say 35 people in North Texas are accused of conducting romance schemes to defraud and steal money from older adult Americans.
Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the FBI announced a multi-year investigation into a wide-ranging criminal enterprise operating out of North Texas.
Investigators announced indictments for criminal charges against 35 people accused of wire fraud and money laundering as part of a very sophisticated scheme that stole more than $17 million from more than 100 people nationwide.
According to court documents, these defendants allegedly preyed on older victims, many of whom were widowed or divorced. They assumed fake names and trolled dating sites like Match.com, ChistianMingle, JSwipe, and PlentyofFish, searching for targets.
Conspirators would pose as an interested partner and then build a level of trust with their target before eventually sharing a sob story that ended with them needing a large sum of money.
Crimes like these are especially despicable because they rely not only on victims’ lack of internet savvy, but also, their isolation, their loneliness, and sometimes their grief,” acting U.S. Attorney Prerak Shah said at a press conference announcing the charges. “The only mistake these victims make is being generous to the wrong people.”
In many cases, investigators said, the alleged thieves would then siphon thousands of dollars from their victim's bank accounts.
"Once they depleted the savings they vanished into thin air," said Shah.
Investigators said the funds are taken from the victims eventually made their way to accounts located in Africa and Asia.
Shah added that romance scams are often difficult to prosecute because victims are often embarrassed, feel duped, and don't want to come forward. Still, they encourage victims to come forward and reassure them that the scams are more common than one might think -- more than 20,000 people lost $600 million in romance scams in 2020.
Eleven of the arrests were made in the Northern District of Texas while 24 arrests were made in the Eastern District of Texas.
Those charged in the Northern District of Texas include:
David Animashaun, 38 – arrested in DFW, charged with wire fraud conspiracy
Oluwalobamise Michael Moses, 40 – arrested in DFW, charged with wire fraud conspiracy
Irabor Fatarr Musa, 51 – arrested in the Eastern District of Texas, charged by the Northern District of Texas wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy

Chukwemeka Orji, 36 – arrested in DFW, charged with wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy
Emanuel Stanley Orji, 35 – arrested in DFW, charged with wire fraud conspiracy

Victor Idowu, 36 – arrested in Los Angeles, charged with mail & wire fraud conspiracy
Afeez Abiola Alao, 37 – wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy

If convicted, the defendants face up 20 years in federal prison on the wire fraud conspiracy counts and up to 10 years in federal prison on the money laundering conspiracy counts. https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/federal-law-enforcement-in-dallas-announce-large-scale-fraud-operation/2750932/

listowell: I said people shouldn't be mentioning nysc and uploading discharge cert..no be me write that case note. Oga, I mentioned NYSC and uploaded my discharge certificate as well as my reference letter from my PPA (which explicitly stated that my job was part of the NYSC scheme) and the VO didn't find anything wrong with that. In fact, I used my NYSC job as my primary NOC. Each application is peculiar. Please stop generalizing issues, thereby misleading people and creating unnecessary panic. |

ednut1: congratulations. The journey is not for the faint hearted. But when you realize some have been in the uk or us for over 10 years without even pr. The Canadian stress and wahala is nothing compared to that. I agree with you @ednut1. The Canadian stress is nothing compared to the hullabaloo surrounding immigration proceedings/getting a PR in the US. DanMisla: After what seemed like eternity, I’m happy to share my PPR gist... Congrats DanMisla!! Wishing you and your family God's best as y'all embark on this new journey. Cheers https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0016.gif |

Silversurfer1: If it's the same job, two differenct entries are not needed. Location of the job is not important, unless it's in another country. One reference letter is okay I had gaps in between each of these experiences, hence the need for multiple entries with the same reference letter which stated each work experience. If there are no gaps between those experiences, then one entry and reference letter is enough. |

Annettevoke: Hi Everyone
Work ref 1 : Nov 2019 - May 2020 -Ikeja Work ref 2 : May 2020- Present - Lekki
Same company, Same NOC, but two different locations for Work ref, Do I need to create two different entries in Work history ? I think you might need to create two different entries. I had 3 stints with same company (internship -> part time -> full time) and I had to create 3 different entries for them. Are you getting two different reference letters for these experiences? If yes, then I think you need to create different entries for them. |

Deedsy: Just received my PPR.. Wow! I'm still surprised as I called IRCC just yesterday and was told my eligibility was recommended pass while my security had not been started. My AOR was on March 12 and due date Sept 12. I was thinking the Covid would have delayed the application.
I'm so grateful to God and to every single person here on Nairaland. And to all the mods who helped create fantastic page 1. That was all I read and that was what helped me submit a good application.
Thank you Nairaland. Congratulations Deedsy. We await your PPR story. Cheers https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0016.gif |

Toludebs: Thank you. Please how do I get the outlined duties on the NOC page? This is the link to the NOC homepage ( www.noc.esdc.gc.ca). Just provide the job title in the textfield and click Search. It would provide you with the outlined duties. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by sesan01: 3:20pm On Sep 14, 2020 |
Toludebs: Thank you, Develop and deploy applications. Also, I saw Software Engineers and Computer programmer and media... The media beside the computer programmer is why I am thinking it might not be the right NOC code. I totally understand the confusion. I'm also a Software Developer but I had to use the NOC code for Web Developers because my duties matched 75% of the duties listed for Web Developers. It's quite tricky but I'll advise you to select the NOC code that aligns with most of your duties. Don't let the job title get you confused, focus on the duties. Also, I hope you're not planning to just write "Develop and deploy applications" as your duties on your reference letter because that's too short. Those VOs are looking for buzz words, so I'll advise you to be very explicit when describing your job duties and ensure it matches what they have listed for the NOC code you want to select. Lastly, please don't copy and paste the duties they listed on their website oo. That one is straight rejection. |

Stencil: @sesan01 - I would re-send those documents as soon as possible, including the pay stubs and all the information you sent the first time. Use ilovepdf.com to merge all of them and name the file something like FirstName_LastName_Proof_Of_Employment and follow up with a phone call until you get confirmation that the file has been received. Then order GCMS notes again just to be on the safe side. @bolded. Thanks for this advice. I followed up with a phone call and realized that some of the documents I sent via webform were not added to my application even though they acknowledged via email that the documents have been received and added. So, I had to rename (using the format you suggested) and resend the documents again. I'll follow up with a call this week to confirm its receipt. For folks who have uploaded (or will upload) documents via webforms, it's safe to follow up with a phone call to confirm if your document(s) has/have been received and added to your application. |
