HumbledbYGrace: I unhide the posts Striklyme complained about
Can @Striklyme please confirm this?

the problem is that he has a habit of acting like an advocate here and makes it hard for me to do my job.
Inasmuch as we don't have any rule against acting as an advocate, moderators may not ban anyone for that reason.

Please feel free to ask other mods to give you tips on how to solve this problem. I would love to help, but I don't seem to understand the problem.

Re: Complaint against HumbledbYGrace

Hi,

I have used the phrase: "silly excuse for a mod" just once since I joined nairaland in 2008 and now I am at the brink of using it again because of the silliness demonstrated by HumbledbYGrace (HBG).

From my last communication with you (mukina) I got the feel that our complaints actually get through to you and seun considering that the event that led to the prior complaint is yet to repeat itself; as the ish with the 'modification' of posts is yet to re-occur.

This day has witnessed another very disturbing 'trend' with HBG which I believe will be a very bad precedent if left unaddressed. It is no news that nairaland, as an organization, is guided by rules which members and mods are expected to abide by; and I try my best (though sometimes without much success) to work within the confines of these rules.

As I make this complaint, some of my posts are hidden by HBG for the following reason:

which in her view is a plausible reason to hide them, even though she is yet to state the rule(s) my posts may have broken. My request is that the posts be reviewed and if they are against any known rule, let them remain hidden but if on the contrary no rule was broken, I humbly ask that they be unhidden.

Thank you.
I hereby ask HumbledByGrace to please unhide any posts she hid that were not against the rules of Nairaland.

As for those posts she hid which were against the rules, I hereby ask her to please name the rules that were broken so that all shall know that HumbledByGrace is a just and fair moderator.

ProgrammingRe: Why Waste 4 Years On Computer Science In University? by Seun(mod):
If you want to be a professional software developer, you should study Computer Science at a good private university like Covenant University with good lecturers and good facilities. If you can't afford that, then study it at a reputable public school like OAU-Ife or UNILAG and also make sure you buy a computer and use it to teach yourself practical skills.

The practical knowledge you will gain by learning on your own is no substitute for the theoretical foundation you will gain as a Computer Science studentin a good university. It's complementary. A programmer who studied Computer Science and also learnt extra on his own will be much better than a programmer who studied something else and learnt on his own.

As a student of Computer Science, you will be surrounded by computer geniuses who are better than you. Learning from them and competing with them will make you a much better developer. It will bring out the best in you. It takes a rare and extraordinary level of motivation to learn Computer Science in depth on your own. It's just too hard.

So studying Computer Science in a good university is a fantastic way to spend 4 years if you want to work professionally as a software engineer. Your uncle is not qualified to tell you whether or not studying Computer Science is worth it because he knows nothing about it. You should not take advice from people who don't know what they are talking about. You should listen to employers of programmers and Computer Science graduates who are programmers.

maclatunji: A major side effect would be if the "inactive" virus becomes active after vaccinating millions of people. Such a new strain of the virus would potentially be more lethal.
Has this ever happened before with vaccines for other diseases?
