I think it's a joyful privilege to be able to serve the Nairaland community that we love so much. Most moderators also feel that way.

Here's the problem: Our supermod is a muslim. Maclatunji is a muslim. The religion section moderator was an atheist. I'm an atheist. No Christian!

Yes, he did recommend pro-Christian topics occasionally, and many neutral topics, but as an atheist, he is unavoidably biased against all religions. (I'm also an atheist, and I have the same bias). For example, he recommended the following topics for the home page:

I'm sorry that you all hate my decision, but I will not reinstate manmustwac because that would be a stupid mistake on my part. I understand that I will be demonized and called all sorts of horrible names for this, but I'm now 100% sure that manmustwac deserves his removal.

My decision to appoint real Christian moderators was made a long time ago, because I noticed that the current moderators were contributing to the perception of pro-muslim bias because they refused to submit pro-Christian topics for the home page even on Sundays. Jesoul was inactive and manmustwac only seemed to recommend anti-Christian topics for the home page, so I've been planning to fix that.

After reading manmustwac's so-called explanation,
I am now 100% sure that I made the right decision.

He's not a good fit for my e-team, at the very least, &
it seems that he's deliberately trying to start a civil war.

(1) I hereby call on Maclatunji to explain his reasons for hiding that post.
(2) When maclatunji gives his reasons, we will judge them with respect to the rules of Nairaland.

To answer your question, I believe I was told that you also threatened to abuse your mod powers, and you never disputed that claim.

Suppose you have an employee who is a signatory to your corporate bank account. If such an employee threatens to bankrupt the company on national TV, I'm sure that your first action will be to revoke his access to your bank account. It is a pity that our software does not support taking away the power of a moderator without removing the moderator. Sorry.

I didn't remove him summarily. I took away his powers so they could not be abused. I could have given him back his powers if he contacted me afterwards and convinced me that he did not actually intend to harm the forum in any way, but he didn't do that, which is suspicious.

(2) He created a thread but the thread was not addressed to me, so I didn't have to reply to it.

The modern brand of Christianity is a very peaceful religion. It doesn't need to be hidden away in a safe place for the security of the forum. The same applies to all other religions apart from Christianity, which is why they don't have dedicated sections.

Well I do. And I am not in the habit of waiting until our great forum has been damaged before dealing with threats. If a person is considered to pose any threat to the forum, such a person will not be allowed to wield the immense powers of a moderator. We have no tolerance for that.

He threatened to "take matters into his own hands" & "deal with" God-knows-what. I don't know what he is planning exactly, but we do not tolerate any threats against the forum made by people who are supposed to be the defenders and protectors of the forum. Most organizations have certain offences that are strictly prohibited and if you do them you will immediately lose your job.

Maclatunji's actions have had the effect of promoting the security of the forum and our non-muslim members. That's why I support him.
