Thanks for the info. I was at their Wuse II office in 2011 but as at then their signals could not be recieved in Kubwa. I guess they've expanded. Their channel list seems to be ok for the price (N3500 for football alone is a better deal than DSTV). I plan on going for them too, I hope they live up to expectations.

cenjoe: I recently stumbled upon ABG Qtv Plus office in Kubwa here (Abuja) and from their explanations, I guess they partner with Metrodigital and they opperate as DTT. With the info they provide on their handbills, they offer good channels: news channels, discovery, movies sport channels procasting all EPL, FA cup, Chanpions league, Spanish Laliga, etc. As I want to install a cable tv, I've been researching on the one that will be of favor to me. Pls, can someone tell us more about this unpopular cable tv?

Is your windows automatic update turned on? That might be the culprit in the case of the missing downloaded data. It's possible that the Mtn data card's software doesn't take into consideration the data downloaded by windows automatic update & hence doesn't add it to it's calculations (just a theory).

In any case, I totally agree with u that Mtn should send an sms indicating that one has exceeded the 3gb limit before proceeding to deduct credit like mad.

I hope the problem of multiple taxation has been sorted out by the Lagos state government cos I know that the issue makes people loath taxes. A case were a shop owner pays money to the state government, then local governmment officials come to collect their own, after a while u have traditional institutions & area boys (just being sarcastic) collecting their own discourages people from paying taxes.

Still, people should learn to pay taxes & all tiers of Government should in-turn sort themselves out, perform their social responsibilities & be accountable.

Me thinks it's simply down to lack of competition.
The data package of the cdma operators is primarily targeted at single individuals. The isp's (mainly those providing wifi services) are not offering anything better (at a reasonable price). The gsm companies? Same story.
If Mtn which (arguably) has the best 3g coverage increase their download cap from 3gb to say 7gb or 10gb monthly, presto. You go see as starcomms, visafone and the rest go dey launch evdo everywhere.

The problem with starcomms izap is availability. They only have evdo coverage in 3 locations (as at the last I checked: Lagos, Abuja, PH) & the coverage in these places is not comprehensive. So, may be you should add subject to availability in your post.
Though, I dont know about visafone's own evdo coverage.

Well, u better believe it, this is Nigeria after all and it seems companies still don't understand the value of information to the public. they advertise the site as http://www.daarsat.com but there is only a blank page. Even on the group's website http://www.daargroup.com very little information is provided on daarsat. Imagine launching a service like that and not providing any tangible information. Daar Communications are holding onto information about daarsat like it was some nuclear blue print.

I don't get it, is it so hard to believe that there's 3G service in Kaduna?. As Ex inferis has already posted earlier He resides under 3G coverage. Believe it or not, Mtn have wide 3G coverage in Kaduna.

my outrage against MTN was infromed by the misleading information they employ in marketing the 3G service. i have had the privilege of using proper 3G broadband and the least i get is a real world value of 700kbps (except once when it hovered around 300 for a few hours).
that being said, i fail to see how MTN can,with a straight face, claim that their service is broadband. its nothing short of disguised EDGE (which is a glorified GPRS) or throttled UMTS at best.

I totally agree with you, the companies should advertise the exact speed they provide and charge accordingly for the service. I put the blame solely on NCC's doorsteps cause as the regulator they have been doing a shoddy job. Don't know what Ahmed Joda (Chairman) and Ernest Ndukwe (Vice) are still doing there!

With that kind of billing I'm afraid to go Mtn's way.

I started this topic cause I wanted people's opinion before deciding which operator to consider for data services. I talked bout MTN's cause they have good 3G coverage (I stay in Kaduna too, so guys Ex inferis is right about 3G here) and at the time they did not indicate any download limit. I'm a heavy downloader and I'm still weighing my options hence the Starcomms Question (which is still about data service).

MTN has changed it service package. It is no longer simply pay 12K and get unlimited access on postpaid. They have now also instituted the 3gig "fair usage" policy. It's now 10k for 3 gigs/24hrs/month on post paid and prepaid. They also have 2.5k for the night service 10pm-5am, you get the same 3 gig limit for a thirty day period on post and pre-paid. They also have N500 for 50MB for 24hrs on prepaid.

Prepaid access codes

Monthly 24hrs send text message 101 to 131 after loading 10k
Night service send 102 to 131 after loading 2.5k
Daily service send 103 to 131 after loading N500

Nice work on the update. The deal would have been sweeter with at least a 5gb limit, but if they maintain good data speeds I wont complain. It's high time the GSM operators with the financial muscle start paying attention to data services. Their presence would make the CDMA operators sit up and improve on the quality of their data services and the competition will in-turn push prices down.

I agree, I don't think I've seen better Slow mo' effects in another movie. If you look carefully, the slow mo' effects in other movies just don't cut it
