Software/Programmer Market / Re: I Need A Website Developer Urgently! by sgiwa(m): 2:42pm On Jun 25, 2010
Hi there,
First things first, your job description is quite vague; as such, it begs the following questions:

1) What are the requirements
2) What would you like to accomplish
3) Are you techno-savvy enough to suggest your prefered technology stack

Last but not the least , what is your pay rate?

All answers to info@systentia.co.uk
No beating around the bush please, thank you.

Programming / Re: How Do I Set My Environment For Java Programming by sgiwa(m): 1:49pm On Sep 07, 2009
You should download an IDE (Integrated development environment) instead of messing about with environment variables and classpath settings.

http://www.netbeans.org/ is a good starting point. Download a version of the IDE packaged with the latest Java edition.
You should be good to go there after.

A quick search on google should provide adequate started tutorials.

Happy programming ,

Well, are you familiar with OO i.e. object orieted programming?
I tend to stay away from anything that glorifies microsoft; having said that, i'll spare a sec to throw you some pointers.
Since you'r using Access, you might want to look at Visual basic, i'm sure it'll make your programming life stress free!
I think VB fits nicely with Access.
Happy coding!

My only reservation is d fact that i ain't a big fan of yahoo groups!!!
My opinion is that a forum, independent of yahoo groups be sought.

Programming / Re: Nigeria Stock Market Data In Any Format (wsdl, Rss Feed, Csv ) Etc by sgiwa(m): 5:12pm On Jan 23, 2008
@ kanirip
You've got jokes bruv.
"I know all this because I was employed to accomplish something like that for a stock broking firm

Needless to say I failed woefully"

Do you mind sharing the reasons behind your failure to accomplish the set task?
Is it a case of politics over rights to data, lack of resources, or just the typical monopoly game!
With all the stories i've heard about the booming Nigeria Stock Market and technological advancement in Naij, i would have thought a standard would be in place by now to address this kinda issue.

So that means there are no standard trade reporting platforms where data can be bought?

i.e. The Boat which is a Trade reporting platform.

"The Boat platform was established by ABN Amro, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS for the collection and sale of trading data following the introduction of EU's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) in November."

Hello peeps,
Pardon my naivety;
Does anyone know of any source where i can get near real time or even a few hours old Stock market Data, i.e. consumable as a web service via (WSDL, RSS feed, CSV or whatever logical format).

Is it even possible to get stock market data feed in Nigeria even if it requires subscription?

All suggestions welcomed.

The girl in question is a friend of a friend, i'm feeling the girl but the thing is that she has a kid.
After a bit of heart to heart conversation, she revealed that she wants a long term thing, and not just a quick fix. But i aint sure about going the nine yards o, considering she got a baggage.

Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by sgiwa(m): 5:34am On Apr 14, 2007
@ Sweet T @ omoge
i feel una, and i kinda see where u lot r comin from. However i don't think all this pointing of finger will solve the problem.
Who cares if u r Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo; in a white man's eye, "all of una the same" just like lagbaja's song.

All Nigerians spoiling OUR country's image in the diaspora will never progress!!!

I once worked in a security printing company in the UK (where they print all manner of bank cheques).
At the interview they did the normal level of security check (including police report and d full shebang) apparently because i showed em my UK passport.

Do you know that 2 weeks later when i told the Director of operations that I'm originally from Nigeria these people called a board meeting? WHY because they wanted to know about my background, even where i lived in Lagos. Can u just imagine?

Infact the big banks in Nigeria cant afford to print their own cheques in Nigeria, simply because of 419. As a result, the money (Millions) which should have been circulated within our own economy is paid to the UK, where Nigerian Banks pay the equivalent of what European Big Boy Banks pay.

Omo men sometimes at work i feel like weeping when i see how many security features are embedded in a Nigerian cheque all for the sake of preventing 419.

In fact there was a day my colleague was mocking me at work.
After production, he simply brought a barclays bank cheque & a Nigerian bank cheque to my office and he started lecturing me about the differences and the need for so many security features, i was short of come backs.

In fact i have some friends (not igbo by the way) who simply ask me if i could steal some Bank cheques from work!
Can u Just imagine! Of course they don't give a damn about my bleak azz, all they care about is their own belly.

Omo men i sorry for that country, God help us all.
Romance / Re: Good Job Or Good Wife: Which Is Harder To Find? by sgiwa(m): 4:35pm On Jun 14, 2006
Its definately harder to find a good wife that a good job these days. After all "he who finds a wife finds a good thing". How easy is it to hop from one wife to another? [not easy], but if u loose your job im sure sooner or later you'll find an equally rewarding or a better one.

@ hot-angel
If an employee dies overnight, i guarantee you that his/her employer will start searching for a replacement a day or two after, if the job role is high profiled.
Can that be said for loosing a good wife after all the wahala of catching the right one? No, of course not!!!
