The worse is how insensitive they are to the plights of suffering Nigerians. Terming everyone 'wailers' that deserve the punishment they are getting. lalasticlala front page. |

blackpanda:Nigeria’s former Minister/Deputy Chairman National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr. Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has debunked the claim by President Buhari that former president Goodluck Jonathan left for them an empty treasury. Suleiman revealed that Jonathan had on May 29 left behind the sum of US$2billion, and said that the sum would have been higher if not for governors insistence on sharing the fund. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Muhammadu Buhari Muhammadu Buhari He criticized the general media for trying to pain Jonathan as a criminal, plunderer and looter before Nigerians. The ex ministers statement was in response to Buhari’s statement, where he was quoted to have said that his government met “virtually an empty treasury.” Suleiman responded and called the accusation unfair, stressing that the immediate past administration “left behind close to US$30billion.” He said, “Government can’t tell us that there is no Excess Crude Account(ECA), Sovereign Wealth Fund(SWF) or are we saying the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIR) and related agencies had not in the last one month been generating revenue? “Until they are able to prove they had no receipts from these government agencies in the last one month before Nigerians can now buy into Mr. President’s claims of an empty treasury.” Every government, even in the so-called western world, including the US which today remains one of the largest debtor nations in the world, government operates on deficit. “Is it not on record that President Obama inherited US$3 triillion debt, a collapsed banking sector and mortgage industry, yet he never raised any alarm. None of these has happened in Nigeria under Jonathan. “Under Jonathan,Nigeria became the largest Africa economy and 26th in the world amidst deadly security challenges and dwindling international prices of oil. In spite of all these, the FG never owed salary. “Upon inception of Jonatha’s administration, it is on record that the price of oil at the global stage was over 100 dollars per barrel and at the close of the administration, it dropped to 46dollars. Yet, there wasn’t collapse of government and federal civil servants were paid as at when due. “It will be misleading therefore for our respected President Muhammadu Buhari and indeed the ruling APC to claim to have met an empty treasury.” Buhari had claimed that the national treasury was empty when he had an interactive session with journalist earlier. blackpanda:Ex President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to stop using dwindling crude prices for lack of performance. According to Obasanjo, he met worse when he took power in 1999, but made the best of it. He reminded Buhari that unlike his administration that met a paltry $3.7 billion, in the coffers, Goodluck Jonathan left behind a whooping $30 billion. He said “When I assumed office in 1999, I inherited $3.7 billion in reserve, while Buhari met $30 billion, almost 10 times of what I met then, and the price of oil then was $9. When it got to $20, I was dancing. know the price is down now and with time, it will jump up again. What Buhari is doing currently is preparing ground for Nigeria to take advantage when it goes up again.” Obasanjo expressed angst against those asking him to account for recovered Abacha loot, describing them as illiterates and silly people. Obasanjo, who stated this in an interview, weekend, said the role of his office was to facilitate the recovery process and not how it was put to use. He said: “They said the money recovered from Abacha, I should account for it. What stupidity! The man who asked for it, the man who gave the judgement or who answered them are all silly, with due respect. “I don’t keep account, all Abacha loots were sent to Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and every bit of it was reported to Minister of Finance. My job was to write where we can get help to recover the money. “Every penny that comes out of it went to CBN, so if they want to know what happened to the money, they should call CBN governor or call the Minister of Finance. “But again, it shows ignorance, total ignorance, which is lacking and you wonder, are these people educated? They can also approach the man who helped us in recovering process to give the list of money recovered and where he took it. |
blackpanda:you are not being truthful to yourself if you say GEJ left nothing. |
obailala:and buhari has being in office for exactly almost one year now. ![]() |
Jesusloveyou:can you show proofs to back this up? |
obailala:you don't get it, do you? Before yaradua, our reserve was around $45 billion in 2007. After the oil price crisis and low oil revenue, yaradua rasised this amount to $47 billion. i'm more particular about yaradua than GEJ's tenure. Buhari should go back and find out how yaradua was able to save amidst a global economic meltdown. How he was able to grow our Economy amidst a meltdown. Since Buhari stepped in, all he's done is share all monies that were previously saved. |
modath:check this thread. Amidst the meltdown, yaradua actually saved us some good money. https://www.nairaland.com/1985177/external-reserve-debt-under-obasanjo |
blackpanda:How much did yaradua meet, how much did he save? Remember he came into power amidst the global Economic meltdown of 2007. Obasanjo left $40billion in our reserves. Between 2006 -2007 amidst the meltdown, yaradua saved $3billion dollars. Please sir, how much has buhari saved amidst all his economic tightening and austerity measures? |
asha80: ikuku kuo ahu ike okuko. |
blackpanda:oil sold for less than $30 and Yaradua was able to save. Now oil is selling for $40 and all Buhari has done in the past one year is deplete already saved funds in our reserves. He has not saved a single penny instead he keeps complaining! |
asha80:nkita ara, maintain your lane. Bulllhari is a scam. |

dey there dey speak grammar while fulani barbecue your village people. you think say na by grammar?
This is simple logic. You save from the excess of what u have. When there is nothing in d purse, then there's nothing to save. Meanwhile gej and his cohorts have stached trillions of nigerian money abroad.
