The issue with the DS 160 is something that is handled by CGI and I would recommend to your friend to check in with them here (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-appointmentschedule.asp) - they should be able to help with the technical aspects of the interview scheduling.

As for the documents, students MUST show their I-20 and their SEVIS fee receipt - the rest is up to the discretion of the officer, but 95% of the time, no further documentation will be asked for during the interview for students. Students must show that they are qualified and credible and have a concrete plan for returning back to Nigeria when their studies are over.

I will answer this question again to help provide clarity and also deter those who might want to involve themselves in sharp practices.

YES ! Canadian embassies verifies bank statements that are sent in with applications. Some AGENTS might make you believe that the bank statements are only checked if the account numbers are valid. So they go ahead to ask you for your normal bank details and BVN details.

They now use this genuine information to produce a fake bank account statement for your application. In many of the cases i have heard about, AGENTS convince the applicants that they have used it in the past for applicants and their visas was successfully approved. Please, don’t be fooled, because these visa agents are really slowly digging your “visas approval grave”

The truth is that the banks are not meant to reveal your account balance, but there are many ways they can find out the genuineity of the account without knowing exactly how much you have in your account. The request sent to the banks are coded in a way that the bank just needs to respond “Yes” or “No”. Most time they verify the transcations carried out on the given bank statement. (this is all i can say about this topic because this is highly classified information).

So in conclusion, don’t try to forge a bank statement, because the Canadian embassy will surely find out.

Newbies learn from this and If you or anyone close to you has this fraudulent intention kindly abstain from it.

Thank you Frankrobbn1 for the response, please I was rather asking of the instance where the issuer of the bank statement are the agents and at the same time the bank officials working in the department of the financial firm where the school may call or send query to verify. Shouldn't they have other means to verify since those people will just answer those query to agree with the statement they have given to their clients?. Thank you.

Is it just by placing a call to confirm what is infront of them?
How are they able to know that the financial institution dosnt in actual fact have that money but just coniving with its client by building statements for them.
If a school doesnt detect when it asks for statement, at least the embassy should have a way to really know that the document infront of them is good or bad without those in those financial institutions? I need an advice for a friend...

No medical examination taken for Canada will not be accepted. USA embassy has its own list of approved physicians.

Hmnnn why are you concerned what the bank says about an account or its existence or whether the school has a way of verifying independtly what is in the account. Hmnnn, It's either you have money or you don't have money in the bank period. If you do you won't be worried or curious about all these stuff. Schools rarely call bank to verify money in an account. I know in the USA, they dont disclose any such information to them without your express permission due to privacy laws. I don't know about Nigerian banks. Verifying accounts Is mostly and largely the work of an embassy official before they give you visa and they know their ways around this.

Hope you are not trying to do what I am suspecting? Submit only genuine stuff, honesty is the best policy. Schools don't verify bank statements until they notice something amiss. The same applies to embassies. But better to be safe than sorry and incur a 5 year ban.

No jnyuwa02, please its not that at all, i just want to be clear on some stuffs I hear. Please I will like to kindly find out that if a school calls your bank is it what the bank tells them what they believe or they themselves have a way to verify a statement in terms actual existence of the said account and not merely what the bank says? The important thing is to convince the Visa officer your sponsor is genuine, credible, reliable and also financially capable.

Travel history is not really a problem. Not having prior travel experience is not a big deal. Focus on packaging all other aspects of your application well and you will be fine. Most people I know, got their TRV without any prior travelling and to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever been denied just for travel history.

Please with your question, I was intending to say those monies were gotten from some other side business such as part time teaching standardized test or something. Also, please did you mean submitting their birth certs and stating that they depend on me and because of that I will have to come back will make up for the ties?
Secondly, with the bank statement too, please will changing the sponser altogether in the next application raise any concern?
Also with my case of travel history, will stating that I have concentrated only on my studies suffice?

Please to my main question, I was refused student Visa to Canada in December.

Docs presented:
Application forms
CV
Sponser letter and affidavit
sponser bank statement
Medicals
passport

I was refused on several counts but main reason was that I will not leave after studies based on
1 travel history
2 family ties in canada and home country
3 purpose of visit
4 based on personal assets and financial status
5 based on employment situation

My Profile:
I am 28 with no property in my name or families name. Honestly my work does not earn anything better (a study abroad company) and trusting God to have gotten another one by next month. I got admission to Windsor for Masters in Criminology program with only living expenses to be paid through TAship and also got Memorial (Mphil program) without any funding, I therefore decided to apply with Memorial for January entry so I could probably use some little savings and families support to pay first year fees and work the rest out when I get in, obviously through part time work. My family is not that in good standing and therefore I struggled to get a distant uncle at the last hour who could only provide a 3 months bank statement at just slightly above required money.

Now: I have applied to 2 USA schools and TAship for same Criminology program which when succesful, I could be lucky to get both tuition and stipend. But since Canada appears to be the number one preference I am thinking of reapplying for September in the next couple of months for the Windsor offer and forget the USA offer no matter the outcome. However my main problem here as can be seen is how to turn my REFUSAL around as well as the best option COUNTRY to direct my next application to.
Judging by my bio presented and the huge problem of task before me, I will be very grateful if you Sirs are able to personally look into the cases of my refusal one after the other vis a vis my profile and graciously advice me on how to tackle each of them as well as advice on how best to direct my next student visa application. Sorry for the outcome of your previous application, it's nice to see that you're back again to reapply and I believe this time around, it will end in praises.

1-) Paper route cost = 56K but go with 60K, should incase there is any error to correct or documents to photocopy at the VFS office.
Online Route = 68K-70K (It's more expensive)

2-) 1 year program is not as bad as you think, just that visa officers always refuse such application. They always think that such applicant is using study permit as a means to facilitate entry into Canada and they tag them as not a genuine student that will return back after their stay in Canada. I never said its impossible okay, but the duration of your course matters alot on your application. When reapplying put up a rational explanation to why you opted out for this course of study in Canada, list the employment benefits here in Nigeria, Your future goals in Nigeria, let them know the chances of securing a job with such certificate is very high in Nigeria.... But if possible get a 2 year program. if not be ready to draft a convincing SOP and everything will be okay
