Microsoft Internship in Nigeria is probably watered down so a lot of people can get it, this isn't usually how top tech companies scout for Internship positions. Also to get into Microsoft Nigeria is easier because they pay less than Andela, I am sure because I have been Interviewed.

Google, Facebook and Amazon Internship is really difficult that It requires so much preparation to get in.

Please forget about the word Internship for Faang companies, It completely means something else there.
For example, Google internship consist of 3-4 technical evaluations.

1. Two online hacker rank, 90 minutes to do both.
2. Two back-to-back 45 minute coding interviews.
3. Then behavioral interviews for another hour.

Imagine doing 100 to 200 Leetcode questions before going for Internship interview, that doesn't sound like normal Internship to me.

You are right though.

My own point of view is just that although most companies don't want to go through the stress of training and recruiting newbies, there are still some who do it.

Definitely CS students get internships but you have to pass the coding interview to get into the internship. You wont get the internship without passing the coding interview. It is not like other industries where they are like I am a student and the next thing is to come resume and FAANG internships pay a lot. A mentee at google was getting 50k USD annually and was relocated to their office in switzerland for their internship. Hes still in level 200.

I don't know if they did any coding interview cause I was not there, all I know is they interned for some months, and the best were retained.

Poached is different from getting the job. I get poached by recruiters all the time. You still have to pass the interviews.

They all had an opportunity, the majority who impressed in the internship were recruited by Microsoft on full-time basis.

But that is not even tbe argument, the fact that they even had an internship opportunity just because they were cs students not because any of them had any super coding skills.

I am a university of Ibadan computer science student.

Some of seniors were poached by Microsoft for internship positions, they were not necessarily the smartest, they were just the lucky set to be present in campus when Microsoft came shikena.
