The striker, who was declared missing on Friday, has earned a move to England after helping his country claim glory at the Under-17s World Cup earlier in November with six goals Nigerian wonderkid Kelechi Iheanacho will sign a deal with Manchester City, according to the player's father. Iheanacho was named the best player at November's Under-17s World Cup after scoring six goals, including one in the final, as his country triumphed in the United Arab Emirates. He has since been linked in his homeland with moves to Porto and Chelsea but his father, James, claims that the Etihad Stadium will be his next destination. "As I am talking to you, I have chosen in my mind that Kelechi is going to Manchester United," he told Super Sport's 'Monday Night Football', before appearing to correct himself by saying: "I have told you that he is going to Manchester City." Iheanacho senior later confirmed to MTNFootball.com that the player's family made a joint decision on where he would go in a meeting on Monday night. "We prayed [on Monday] and, after due consultations with family members, we came up with Manchester City, believing he has a future there," he explained. "That is where he will be uplifted." The young striker had been declared missing by his father on Friday after he had left his home in Owerri without alerting his family but returned early on Monday morning before a decision on his future was made. James has been integral in his son's fledgling career, with rumours that he had valued the starlet at €1 million (£840,000), though he denied those claims, declaring: "No, those people are my enemies. I never said that." SOURCE |

A member of the Eiye cult group and an accomplice have been arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos. One of the cultists, Sodiq Jimoh who was caught with guns and masks in his home confessed to being a university dropout and said he was responsible for the death of many rival cultists in the State. Police authorities said Jimoh who is a trader in televisions at the Alaba International Market is usually hired by other traders to intimidate or kill their opponents. The suspect was arrested over the death of at least 5 people in the market in May. Jimoh, said, “I am not an armed robber, I am just a member of Eiye cult. During the market election, one of the contestants gave us N1m to flush out his opponent’s supporters. “On May 22, 2013, we knew that (Aiye) members had also been paid to support an opponent. So we knew there would be a fight. I got 15 of my boys and Aiye people attacked us first. But the Eiye boys were able to gun them down. “Four of them, Chibuzor, Tony, Ayanga and Chinedu; died on the spot. I did not pity them because it was self-defence. As cultists, we only kill those who deserve death and those guys were also evil.” He said he joined cultism whilst in 300 level at the university. “When I was in 300 level, some boys tricked me into following them to a party and gave me something to eat. They said if I did not join them, I would die. “I couldn’t cope with school so I left and then became a television trader in the Alaba Market.” The other suspect identified as Oshilomo said he was an Eiye member too but did not belong to Alaba branch. “I am also an Eiye member but I belong to Iba branch, not Alaba branch. I only went to buy something in the market on that day when Jimoh said I should escort him somewhere. It was when Aiye boys started shooting at us that I retaliated,” he said. SOURCE

Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio may have taken a subliminal shot at his Rivers counterpart, Rotimi Amaechi in recent remarks made to the print media. Whilst discussing his take on the feud between the G7 Governors and President Goodluck Jonathan, Akpabio said “you cannot be a good leader without being a good follower.” He added that rebelling against God ordained leaders would definitely lead to a reciprocal of the same. His words: “Well, I’ve seen newspapers clips where they said the rebellious governors, the G-7 and so on and so forth. In any rebellion, we can resolve it through dialogue and I think that that’s what the President is doing, that’s what the PDP leadership is out to do to see how it can dialogue and bring the situation to a close.” “But, you see, it all depends. But for me, I believe that you cannot be a good leader unless you’re a good follower and I believe also strongly that leadership comes from God. So the question of rebelling against leadership does not occur because if I rebel against the leadership at the federal level, I should expect somebody also to rebel against my leadership at the state level, may be from my own local government or thereabouts,” he added. Political analysts are of the view that Akpabio was referring to Governor Amaechi’s challenges with the Obio-Akpor Local Government Council in Rivers. The Rivers State High Court on Monday ordered the state government to reinstate the suspended Chairman, Timothy Nsirim, and councilors of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. Governor Amaechi is strongly against the return of Nsirim and this contention is what led to the current political crisis in the state with acting Education minister, Nyesom Wike as a leading opposing figure to Amaechi. The Rivers State Government is appealing the decision of the High Court. Rivers Commissioner of Information and Communication, Ibim Semenitari, “As a responsible Government, which respects the rule of law, we have noted the ruling and in our usual manner would abide by the pronouncement,” it said. “However, we are constrained to note that the trial judge acted in total disregard of the Court of Appeal, which at the moment is entertaining an appeal in respect of the matter. “We are aware that under the rules of court, where there is a subsisting ruling essentially from the court above, lower courts are as a rule expected to stay action pending the determination of the appeal. “In this instance, we wish to state without equivocation that the trial judge erred in law when she failed to adhere to age- long principles upon which the rule of law draws inspiration and strength. “For the avoidance of doubt, the Rivers State Government has filed an appeal for a stay of execution of the judgment while the ongoing matter that is being heard by the court above is billed for Thursday, the 28th of November, 2013.” SOURCE |
The FCT Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah in Abuja. The spokesperson of the command, Altine Daniel, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday. She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place. Ms. Daniel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:30 p.m. According to her, some metal objects were found in the vehicle which do not look like the conventional bullet. “The objects will be subjected to ballistic test,” she said. According to her, investigation into the incident has begun. Also confirming the shooting, the Special Adviser to the minister, Joe Obi, said that the attack took place at the Ministers’ Hill, Maitama in Abuja. “Fortunately, the minister was not in the car at the time the attack took place. “An official report has been made to the police and the police are currently investigating it,” Mr. Obi said. Mrs. Oduah has been in the news recently over her roles in the controversial inflated purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, for N255 million; with many Nigerians calling for her sack and prosecution. President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday confirmed that he had received the report of a three-man committee set up to probe the role of the minister in the scandal SOURCE |
