Amendment cont'd

Taking the questions one after the other, what is an amendment huh In a layman's term, it's a modification or simply a correction to the error or mistakes recorded usually when you want to ship.

When is it needed huh As soon as it's discovered, usually when delivery is about to take place. Amendement is mainly shipping companies problem, not customs, so you should always ensure correct information when shipping. And it's not only correct alone but consistent one.

Why must it be done huh It's purely on security ground. No serious minded organisation will release a consignment when there are percieved differences, knowing that names or vehicles could be similar but different. It's to safeguard against mismatch between consignee/Consignment.

How long does it take huh A few hours will get your amended copy done. But due to traffic usually experienced, the tradition is to wait for an average a day .

How much it cost and who bears the burden, agent or client huh Shipping company charge 15k for it, your agent may charge more for processing if they desire. Your amendment copy will be printed and you will see it. Not a payment without receipt. This should show on part of your TDO doc. Please, endeavour to always check it.

So who pays? Left for me, and for most freight forwarders I know, importer pays. It's a decision left for your agent though but it's not charged with clearing because no one anticipate problem.

Need more information or want to ask any question, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Happy weekend

Let'ss us talk about some basics.

If the name on your BOL is not the same with what you have on the manifest, perhaps you have a chasis number problem (even just a single mistake), or a wrong declaration (declaring say Mercedes ML 320, when you have ML 450) and more sublte ones, when any of these happen, your consignment may be a bit delayed, but not grounded. All you need is an AMENDMENT.

So, what is an amendment huh when is it needed, why must it be done, how long does it take, how much it cost and who bears the burden, agent or client?

All these in addition to effect of new tariff will be discussed on this thread.

*Please note that new tariff explanation is delayed here because of uncertainties sorrounding it. I want to avoid misconception untill we know where we are heading.

Stay tuned!

Adofaya: What for, when most people in Philippines finds it difficult to make ends meet. When I went to Ph for the first time this year, I thought people there were averagely OK. Come and see the type of vehicles they use as taxi, you will be suprise n ask yourself whether you are in Ph.
Had the same mindset before I went there. can't imagine what I met. The stuff was actually under construction then. And I watch a waste of resources in dismay.

With sorrounding communities in shambles, all they are using the allocation is to elevate individuals and corporateoffices. You still buy water to bath within PH. Go to Onne & okirika LG where the wealth lies, you will be sorry.

You begin to ask what significant difference NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta and bogus allocation has made so far.

NDDC is a big fraud. Reason I am not in support of more allocation to oil producing states. Just corruption and over dose corruption.

PoliticsRe: British Parliamental System Of Government Vs The American Congressional System by sheffyUTD(m): 8:31am On Sep 22, 2014
bushdoc9919: Well, here it is briefly

In the British system....the people vote for their representatives, who take their seats in parliament, the equivalent of our national assembly.
Then said representatives from the Party which has the higher number of seats choose the Party Leader(who is also a member of Parliament) as the Prime Minister.(If the majority Party does not get above a certain threshold of seats...it may either form a minority government...Labour's 1976 govt, or a Coalition government....the current Conservative-Liberal Democrat Government).

Also, the British system is bi-camereal...two houses...the House of Commons which is (commonly)referred to as the Parliament or just plain Commons, and the House of Lords , which is made up of the hereditary Lords (or traditional chiefs, roughly speaking). Commons chooses the Prime Minister...who is then approved by HM the Queen.(in a formal ceremony known as kissing of hands). Lords used to be more powerful and could overrule the Commons, but reforms brought in in the 90's have reduced its powers.(one of Tony Blair's good ideas).

The Americans have Congress, which is bicameral...the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Representatives and Senators are chosen by direct election. The President of the US is chosen by a separate election. Unlike the UK...the President need not come from the majority party in Congress....and the majority party in the Senate may be different from the majority party in the House. (Like right now...the Democrats control the Senate...and the Republicans the House)

I have no preferences. Though in the Nigerian setup, the American system works better because the Parliamentary system unfortunately gets easily compromised by tribalism. The American system also forces the Opposition to compromise with the Ruling party or vice versa.
Please I need more tutorial. Never knew parliamentry system is 'bicameral'.
