ilynem:EJED! I FOUND THE FUC-KER, HAHAHAHAHA! |
I don't know how much it is worth although I suspect it would vary according to score based on what someone said on this thread earlier The other guy asking about the qualification ish should check his province though I should think they'd have contacted you if you made the cut. |
Good one OP. It bothers me too, this broadening vs specialization thing. I may not give expert advice here, but I sincerely think it all boils down to what profession one does. A 'professional' is clearly an expert at 'one' field of study. In certain fields like Economics, you usually start out with a knowledge of Micro and Macro concepts then plus a sound knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics before one can venture to become an expert at say, Petroleum Economics, Labour Economics, Developmental Economics and so on. Now consider an economist who wants to work in the private sector like the petroleum industry. What good does having a knowledge of labour economics do for him/her? Not much except in terms of wage issues which is something the HR department can handle well. For such a person, specialization makes more sense. On the other hand, consider if said economist chooses the public sector maybe decides to work as a lecturer. It makes much sense to broaden. In fact, specialization for a new lecturer is not an advantage. It is only after years of lecturing that he/she may decide to specialize especially if such a person is aiming to be a professor. So, it does depend on one's career choice in my opinion but I'll be glad to hear what others think... |
Brilliantly written, what a piece! Abimbola Adelakun properly captures my thoughts with regards to the MMM scheme. People know that it is a scheme built on a sandy foundation set to crash, but they invest anyway in the hope that they will benefit before its inevitable fall. Is it stupid? Yes, but rationality goes out the window when man's greed takes centre stage. Linking it with T.B Joshua was a rather interesting thing to do. Generally I steer away from antagonizing religious leaders at least in public because I realise that Nigerians take religion too serious ... Yet I agree with most of her points. People are blindly devoted to 'men of God' and take whatever they say as final. Even when it is glaring that their prophecies are wrong, nothing can dissuade them from supporting their spiritual leaders to the death. I will never understand how people decide to take the words of a mere mortal as the ultimate. Jesus referred to it as 'the blind leading the blind'. How do you present the facts to blind people? All the proof in the world is useless to them and who can blame them? They are blind and cannot see and therefore will never understand.. RIP to the 93 souls that died in the crash in Russia this morning...Merry XMAS to those of us that still draw breath... |
Ayomide002:Go there again. It's ready. You may have to submit those documents again , but rest assured- your cheque is ready. |
They've started paying. Submit your school ID and letter of attestation from your area pastor to your province. They'll take it up from there. |
vikyno:I am Deltan you presumptious being. If you cannot make your point without resorting to insults then kindly refrain from quoting me in future. |
Now that Ibori is free, watch how he will receive a hero's welcome in Nigeria. Anyhow, thank God for the British. EFCC had 150 counts of corruption against Ibori, they could not nail him on any one. The British took just 4 of those charges and tossed him away in jail. The Ibori you see now has been stripped of his pride and dignity. All of his old cronies are either forgotten or feeling the anticorruption heat in the nation. Alamaiyesegha that used to be his partner in crime was also disgraced and is late. Obong Victor Attah of akwaibom that was also his pal has now been relegated to the dungeons of oblivion. Ibori cannot run for public office as he is an ex-convict, neither will Buhari grant him pardon as with what happened with Alamaiyesegha. There's only one thing left for Ibori and that's to become an evangelist. Soon you'll hear of how 'he found Jesus' in prison....you heard it here first! |
midolian:Hmmm, no wahala. I won't play u yet till I get to LAGOS. Once I retrieve my laptop, I'll mention you here with my user details. I just hope u are as good as u say u are... |
midolian:isc.ro is the INTERNATIONAL SCRABBLE CLUB interface for online scrabble players. I don't think you can connect to it with a mobile device, you'd probably have to use a laptop because you'd have to download the interface. First log on to isc.ro with your laptop then register with them and download the interface. From there you can connect with players from around the world and play. You can even watch games too! It's free and has no 'premium' version. You can then search for friends and send them invites if you know their username. Believe me, when you see the standard of Scrabble played online, you will be humbled! |
midolian:No wonder, you are a big fish in a little pond which is why you think you can beat anybody at Scrabble. By the time I am done with you ehn....hehehehehe...sorry will be your new name....do you have an account on isc.ro? |
SCRABBLEBOARD:I've been on the group since. I actually play at UNILAG when it's in session. It's just because they are on break that's why I'm looking for a sparring partner... |
Anybody plays Scrabble here and resides in Ogun state? Or around UNILAG? If you do, you are in luck...there is a small club in UNILAG and also in YABATECH(though I've not been to this one)...only mention me if you feel you are above average, fishes please stay off! |
midolian:Hehehehe...based in Ogun state but schooling in UNILAG...you? |
SCRABBLEBOARD:wow! I'M a fairly good scrabble player looking for serious competition. Are u game? |
midolian:hehehehe. I will beat you like a sorry thief. You think Scrabble is beans? |
Lexmane:Hmmm, I understand the need to 'hustle' to make ends means. Yet as an economist you must be well acquainted with the 'scale/table of preference'. If you hustle to the detriment of your studies you may be sad with the aftermath. I think you need to strike a balance and find out what it is you want. You can actually manage to do both and still succeed but it would take extra grit and gumption from you. Are you up for that? Besides, I know that OAU is not a smiling school, they will gladly help you fail if you don't wake up. Sort out your priorities and work out your personal goals, you'd be surprised at what you can achieve when you plan. If truly you have a passion to teach then you won't be weighed down. Pick up yourself and start again. I am rooting for you! All the best! |
Lexmane:What changed? Can you enlighten us as to why your passion for lecturing is dying? |
Following....looking to be an economics professor, ceteris paribus, Deo volente. However, I'm still an undergraduate at one of Nigeria's premier universities. To be honest and not that I'm trying to put down my lecturers, but some of them are not too sound and lack depth in key economic concepts. Of course I'm not stupid enough to voice it out publicly for fear of reprisal via biased marking of my scripts against my favor but this is our sad reality at the moment. I would appreciate advice from anyone, especially someone in a similar field of study , on the pitfalls to avoid and one can go on to be a lecturer. Imparting knowledge like the o.p has been a passion of mine and I am convinced that education in Nigeria needs to be revolutionized, a complete overhaul of the system, similar to what obtains in Nordic countries like Finland. That's it, advice and constructive criticism is very much appreciated. |
thePretender:Hehehehehehe. This one is clearly from UNIBEN! Is this chukky? |
thePretender:You mentioned me but I'm afraid neither your name nor profile rings any bell. Do I know you? |
finally, a deist thread! I'm definitely following!!! |
Carlcaresophia:Can anyone explain why my username is being mentioned here? I am not understanding, please help me understand @carlcare... |
herbayomi4:Get in touch with your province and the admin of your province, they are better informed on this. I believe they should have your name on their list, ask them the necessary steps to take. Don't slumber on what is rightfully yours. |
It's probably best to get in touch with your province. My provincial pastor from what I heard, is not fully aware of the educational support stuff and he is said to have been left in the dark by the National headquarters. He is briefed now so any information I get, I'll share. Still, make it your duty to find out from your province since this is only peculiar to my own situation. Any information at all will be appreciated so please share if you have any. Thanks! |
I beg to disagree with the idea of posting numbers on a public forum. You are only opening yourself to the possibility of being scammed. It is not as though you are looking for a job. It is a scholarship, repeat, A SCHOLARSHIP! If you need any information, ask for it here and if anyone can help you, you can be sure that they will. Any other form of correspondence can be done via email. The idea of creating a whatsapp group is highly risible and should be discouraged. |
Oises:My folks did, at redemption camp. I've not been to my parish in a while. |
Those who say it's not clear, try opening it with the Google Chrome browser, it's way clearer than using Opera. |
More, more, more.... 265 names in all.... Don't forget a word of gratitude whether you made the list or not, congratulations to those who did.
