Dear Bigots,
I have read with passion some of your comments on my post regarding the unfortunate Zamfara mob action. It is quite unfortunate that your ilks are the ones creating unnecessary religious tension and confusion in the country with your hatred and bigotry. Whatever you stand to gain from spreading mischief in the land, I do not know. However, I can save you a lot of trouble only if you care to "farabale" and read the following 5 points.
First of all, it is pertinent to note that ALL the verses on war in the Qur’ān were revealed after Hijrah (the migration of the Muslims to Madinah owing their banishment from Makkah). Hijrah took place after 13 years of ministering in Makkah amidst verbal and physical harassment, persecution, excommunication, et cetera. Throughout the stay of the Muslims in Makkah, Allah did not permit retaliation in whatever form. It was after the Makkans won't let them be that Allah gave them permission to fight back and defend themselves. Read Q. 22:39-40 & 2:190-194
Secondly, they were permitted to defend themselves, not in order to flaunt their ego but to protect soft targets, i.e. their women, children, the weak and the aged from being attacked again after they survived the onslaught in Makkah which they endured for 13 good years! Read Q. 4:74-75.
Thirdly, did you notice that out of the 114 chapters of the Qur’ān, only Q. 9 which contains the most fierce instructions on fighting has no "Bismillaahir-rahmaanir-raheem" (In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful)? Do you care to know why? It was revealed in a situation of war with Kaafirs that have come to destroy Madinah. It would be an act of great injustice to take this chapter out of context. It is like expecting Buratai to instruct the troops to look on while Boko_Haram overrun their zones and slaughter them in their hundreds!
Fourthly, kindly read through the 47:4 that you quoted. You will definitely find the following phrase, "Until the war lays down its burdens" somewhere in the middle of it. Does that suggests that the Muslims were not being fought?
Fifthly, the Qur’ān commanded the Rasuul to grant asylum to an enemy troop who seeks protection under the Muslim Army until he is safe to return to his people. Read 9:6. This is in addition to the several warnings to eschew violence(25:63); extremism (8:61); etc
Let me ask, how comfortable is it for you to link the actions of the terrorists that killed both in Kano and Zamfara to any of the verses you quoted? Are you hereby insinuating that the other peaceful northerners are not aware of those verses that you misconstrued or quoted out of context to spread mischief? Are you equally saying that the Yorùbá Qur’ān does not contain those verses? Or that the Yorùbá do not have any knowledge about the implication and application of those verses?
Look, I don't do religious debate; it is not in my blood. I can only be responsible for those that are ready to be objective and constructive in their views. The Qur’ān can be easily assessed by anyone, Muslim or non-Muslim. Read and digest its meaning and seek for explanations on areas you find ambiguous.
If all Muslims were like those fanatics who do not make up to 1% of our total population, do you think you would still be alive to post that rubbish? Check the Southwest and see how peaceful it has been for decades and juxtapose it with the few cases of religious crisis caused majorly by Muslim fanatics. It is only politics that plunges the Southwest into violence. Religion? Nah!
The North has suffered more "political and ethnic-turned" religious crises than real religious crises and, the reason for this cannot be far-fetched. Islam came into Nigeria through the north. It has become synonymous with the way of life of the northerners so much so that people have mistaken Hausa/Fulani culture as Islamic culture. It is for this same reason that whatever the northerners do is viewed from the perspective of Islam, rather than from the perspective of tribe and ethnicity.
The hypocrisy with bigots is so nauseating. If a northerner performs brilliantly, they ascribe it to him. If on the other hand, he misbehaves, they blame Islam for it without blinking an eye. Everyday, we read about evil pastors misbehaving upandan and we never blame it on their religion. Everyday we read about cocaine peddlers, kidnappers, cultists, armed robbers, ritualists, blablabla whose names carry Christianity and we never blame it on their religion. Why is it that whenever a Muslim misbehaves, you stir up controversies as if he told you that he was applying verses of the Qur’ān to perpetrate his actions? Even if he recites verses of the Qur’ān, have you confirmed from Muslim scholars to be sure that he wasn't misapplying those verses?
Have you seen the picture of any of those criminals? Have you confirmed the exact story as it happened? Have you watched them being interviewed? Why jump into the Qur’ān to reference their actions when they themselves have not claimed so? What is the difference between you and them?
Again, I cannot take responsibility for your ignorance, gullibility and foolishness or deliberate mischief to drag us in the mud. You're free to make your accusations, denigration and desecration of Islam, Allah and the Qur’ān. I just hope that you receive commonsense on time before it is too late.
