Thanks, that means I need to start practicing speaking with my mask on. |
Hi guys, I am planning to re-write IELTS in February. I am curious about the changes they have made to the speaking test in this post-covid era. Is it via zoom, did you have to wear a face mask or is it business as usual? Will really appreciate your response. |

someone mentioned that an insurance exam is assessed as a 1 year course and it takes a shorter period to prepare for it than CIMA. Personally, I don't know much about this as I did CIMA but check it out on the Express Entry thread. Apparently it's cheaper and you can prepare for it in a few weeks. Sorry about your job |
The Tony Elumelu grant for Entrepreneurs is open for applications http://tonyelumelufoundation.org/programme/ |
I wish we could have someone who has a thorough knowledge of the required steps to put us through. That way we'll know the topic of our protests. Also what is fact & what is fiction. At the moment I have nothing to say because I really have not heard any of these conditions(Payment on submission, Minimum net worth, Landed Property collateral, etc) from any BoI staff, just on this thread. The only conditions I have heard of are: 1. Specific grade and profession of our guarantors 2. Their salaries must be enough to pay our monthly principal + interest repayments in case of default 3. They must still be in paid employment for the duration of our loan But as some people have pointed out, maybe I'm not at that stage yet. Let us keep working towards the path that will lead to success whether it's finding out more information or protesting or both. Still, let's not be discouraged. |
@jethrolite, cool. @ othnielejike1 the steps and requirements are on https://bigportal.org.ng/ |
I would not call it a failed programme. The training we received will forever be useful and if you meet a BoI official who explains all the steps to you, you will find that things like your guarantor having minimum N5m net assets etc are really just rumours. If you have any requirements discouraging you from applying, I would suggest booking an appointment with a Bank of Industry officer and getting clarification. That is what I did. In fact, once you are done with your market research and costing, do so before doing anything else. The Big Gem just seemed like a bonus since it is a grant, that is why I posted it. Cheers. |
If your business is in the following sectors: Construction Entertainment ICT Hospitality & Tourism Light Manufacturing Apply for the BIG GEM Grant to get up to $50,000. The project is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) and supported by the World Bank. Apply here: https://bigportal.org.ng/ Registration closes on 15th December 2016. |
Olowozain. You need to calm down sir. When you are typing, could you pretend you are talking verbally in front of all of us, Keep it simple and short + drop the agression. As I see, your stream is doing well with/without anyone's help. Just take it easy and follow the steps. If you have questions, post them here SIMPLY or on the AMI board and a lot of people will be willing to help. Calling people's contribution trash is going too far, just calm down and don't be so mad at the world. Everyone knows how to use words like that, the fact they don't shows that you can also talk more respectfully and meaningfully if you try. |

Please what is this about? You have been registered as a user on BOI -YES PROGRAMME...Just received the mail. |
We like free things in Nigeria. This programme is totally free but we still want government to pay us for it? Maybe we should just be grateful for the opportunity. Is your training centre far from where you live? I empathise with you if it is. |
It is probably state by state |
Mine is Oct 10-14. Seems ages away. |
Congratulations to everyone shortlisted for the 2nd batch. For answers to some questions you may have, refer to the beginning of this thread. Use the two weeks before the training to organise your schedule and choose a good data plan as well as a web browser. If you set aside about an hour everyday for your training, I'm sure you will smile to the finish line. Once again, congratulations. |
Thumbs up to YES-P Entrepreneurs "AMI News New Partnership with EDC-Lagos to train over 3,500 entrepreneurs AMI and EDC Lagos have launched the online learning academy supporting the Nigeria Bank of Industry’s Youth Enterprise Support Programme (YES-P). The YES programme has produced some extraordinary numbers: in a six-week period, over 350,000 resources downloaded by 3500 young participants, who contributed 4,000 course and academy posts and 10,000 likes or acknowledgements of the contributions of others. AMI provided the online component of this very ambitious programme with our partner the Enterprise Development Centre in Lagos, sponsored by the Bank of Industry. Online-only courses worldwide have a completion rate below 10%; but these keen young people have recorded completion rates between 75% and 85%!" |
Kulex:Send a mail to AMI, the email address should be in the mails sent previously and explain to them. They recently sent a message saying that the courses will be reopened but you have to have done 13 courses out of the total 18. Right now 8 courses have closed, so even if you do the remaining 10, you would still be 3 short. Maybe they will give you special consideration. If not, try to negotiate a slot on the next training so that you don't have to apply again. But I am curious, have you been receiving SMS? They have sent about 6 since this training started. |
Gentlemen, I believe you are clashing because you are both passionate about the programme. This thread and your WhatsApp group are not either/or choices. Contributions on a public thread benefit all & sundry, not just the only people you see contributing here. I'm sure your WhatsApp group achieves all you say it does and that is good for its members. But you should not undermine any other platform because of that, it is not a competition. I hope both of you can settle your differences so this does not turn into the usual nairaland thread where trading insults and throwing subs is the order of the day. ......... If you sent me a message, I tried replying but I don't know how Nairaland messaging works. Please contact me here. |
[quote author=Huskyfrancis post=47086887 We have over 70 people participating in AMI courses on the WhatsApp forum.... However, I salute the good job this platform is doing to help few people that believe here is better. Komolafe F. Francis. WhatsApp Admin: 08038243730 You can still join. Thank you.[/quote]You just pointed out that a WhatsApp group can only cater to a few people compared to a public thread, so I am confused as to how you reached your conclusion. Why has this become a war between WhatsApp & Nairaland? Do you have shares in either business? Use which ever appeals to your needs. In fact, these are not the only options. The YES community thread on the AMI platform is thriving and has so much to offer. |
lovemko:They have started accepting new applications for the second batch. |
kanzjude:I can't say I know what the judges look at. But I guess they will be looking at seriousness, your enthusiasm for your business and your ability to actually make it a success. Show: -What you will be doing differently from your competitors (value addition eg smoking your chicken before selling, customers: children's fashion, etc) -How well informed you are about your business and the market you are in, -Investment of your time and effort so far into the business, -You have Qualifications and/or experience necessary to run the business. -The money you have spent so far towards the business (remember it is a loan so they want to see that you have spent your own money and probably borrowed from your friends and family who believe in you enough to loan you some money)-this can be money used to carry out research, carry out a trial etc when filling the form. House, please drop other hints you think may help kanzjude I wish you and all of us success. |
A simpler Guide to AMI’s Courses 1. Download the timetable 2. On the day, the course is scheduled to start, log in to AMI and enrol for the course 3. Appoint a buddy for the course 4. Click on the course title in your List of courses (You can also access this from the menu titled: Course) 5. Watch first unit’s video or just save yourself the headache and download the lesson summary 6. Read the lesson summary and write down key points 7. Click on the formal test tab 8. Submit formal test 11. Click on the next unit in the course and repeat steps 5-10 12. Repeat step 11 for each unit 13. Your buddy gets a link and all they have to do is accept your assignment. They click on accept and that is it, you have completed that course and are ready for the next. Common issues may be site downtime, personal network connection or Internet Explorer. Use Google chrome, although Internet Explorer has started working fine at this end, change your network or try again when the site is up and running. I doubt anybody sees it as a competition: this thread was dead for some time and life’s other chores are probably the more likely reasons people aren't interacting. |
dannB:The audio is ok over here. The site just keeps crashing on my end. So the video plays but there is no sound? |
oneking4all:I had the same problem when I was using Internet Explorer, same with Mozilla Firefox but it was fine on Google Chrome. Try using Chrome and see if it is any better. |
