Romance › Re: Npower: Before Starting Your Registration, Please Read This! by Shimzyy(m): 1:53am On Jun 27, 2020 |
AoA777: PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS
The Npower registration will start by 11:45 pm tonight (26-06-2020) according to the information on the Npower website. After reading this information, you will agree with me that you may not be totally prepared for the registration and if you are prepared, there are some simple mistakes you will avoid if you take your time to read this piece. It is important to take note of the following mistakes that may affect your chances of being selected or that may frustrate you later if you are eventually selected. Don't rush to register. Read this first.
1) BVN It is important that you print out your BVN. This is to know the arrangement and spelling of your name if any mistake. The name on your BVN must match those on your credentials and Identity Card i.e. they must be spelt the same way. Also, the Date of Birth on your BVN must match those on your birth certificate and Identity Card. If you are sure this is the case, you may not need the print out.
2) ARRANGEMENT OF YOUR NAME When filling your name, take note of the order in which it is to be supplied. E.g. (1) SURNAME, FIRSTNAME, OTHERNAME E.g., OJO Kehinde Akin and (2) FIRSTNAME, MIDDLENAME LASTNAME E.g., Kehinde Akin OJO. Your MIDDLENAME is not the same as MAIDEN NAME. MAIDEN NAME is for married women and it is the SURNAME they answered before marriage.
3) ADDRESS Please fill your address to detail E.g., 1 Akinfenwa Street, Off Brewery Bus-Stop, Ajangbadi. If this is not the case, you may be posted far away from your residence and may end up spending substantial amount of your stipend on transport.
4) EMAIL Use email that you remember it password so you would be able to access the link to continue your registration after the initial step on the portal. Also, use a reasonable email not one such as uchetheman@planetmars.com
5)PHONE NUMBER Use the phone number on your BVN.
6) LOCAL GOVERNMENT Please note that there are two different Local Governments to be filled. Local Government of origin and Local Government of residence. For the Local Government of residence, be sure to confirm before selecting. For example, in my area the main road that separate my community from the other side of the same Bus Stop are in different Local Government. Again, don't assume you know. If you are unsure, please ask.
7) BANK ACCOUNT Please supply a Bank Account that is still active not a dormant one. You can go to your Bank to activate your account if it is dormant and ensure you deposit some money into the account. If you opened your Bank Account on the roadside, please go and complete the necessary documentation at the nearest branch. Note that some accounts have restrictions on the amount of money that can enter at any time if the proper documentation is not completed.
STAY UPDATED After registration, please ensure you continue following the updates. During the registration for Batch A, some who have completed their registration particularly the very first set of people to register when the stages where many and when it was difficult to register were left out when the portal was upgraded. The information was that some set of people who registered during a certain period should re-register because the portal had been upgraded and the stages of registration reduced. Many of these people were not aware of this development. They were never selected because their registration had been cancelled and their information expunged from the database.
I will share with you other useful information during the course of registration. I will create a Whatsapp group for that purpose. Feel free to drop your number.
WISHING YOU A SUCCESSFUL REGISTRATION Thank you sir Please what if your names are spelt correctly but maybe your first name and middle name are interchanged on some of your documents. Please help me out |

Denique: 1. Every youth can't go about creating a vaccine for "one virus". There are other fields their expertise are required.
2. It's rude to involve one's parents in an argument, more so, his grandparents which I'm sure are well older than you... Besides, the guy didn't have the conversation with you but Otedola... Speaks a lot about your upbringing. One thing is certain, you just refused training
3. You don't know him, so don't conclude he is jobless. If he had done what you suggested, you'd be the first to call him an online beggar
4. I know you want attention, so here you go: a. By "Nigerian men" , I hope you know that includes all the men in your family except you don't understand English?
b. Sex starved? Girl, you should change your circle. It's obvious you've been hanging with " chewing-gum boys" and these set of guys are known to want sex all the time.
You need an upgrade!
I hope you are ready for what is to come on this thread?
Don't play the "women supporting women card" here cos you alone called them out and they have a right to defend themselves.

Romance › Re: He’s Very Stingy And I am tired by Shimzyy(m): 3:29pm On May 27, 2020 |
Positivechick: I broke up with my boyfriend today,
I met him while I was serving, he was nice and the only friend I had , I served in a village. while we were serving he doesn’t give me much , I practically kinda fed him cause he was always in my place ,he had a roommate and I didn’t , before he gives me any money we always had issues , not like he doesn’t hv to give. He just doesn’t want to . I don’t even ask for much .
After service we continued dating, he had no job so I told him to get a teaching job he said never ever, he rather follow he’s friends up and down , I kept quite watching what his plans maybe, I hv never asked him for a dim since we finished service mid last year , got a teaching job so taking care of myself.
My birthday would be coming up , his just passed , I told him that I would expecting some cash on my birthday. We talked today and he’s telling me he spent all he’s money for he’s birthday , that if money cms he will send but right now he has no money ,, placing me on the probability table, so I said u couldn’t keep the one u would send me , he said people were buying drinks and buying drinks and he couldn’t tell them to stop. Am like are u serious ? I had to remind him that my birthday is few days away n he started saying he won’t be able to send anything. I told him without him doing the needful that there is no us .
Am tired , he has no vision, No focus , no aim , he depends on he’s friends and it annoying , i think about he’s future more than he does , he’s always in the present. He’s making me feel like a bad person that he would make it , I hope he makes it but the relationship is so draining and I am 100% faithful to someone with no sense of reasoning. He’s Saying I am dating someone that’s why I want to leave him . He isn’t even addressing the issue we hv on ground .
Thoughts?? From your write up I got to know you're a good person with unique and rare features, I also appreciate the fact that you value the relationship more unlike some girls who're only interested in the ceremonial aspect of it, i.e birthday and wedding. If you truly love him then I'll advice you to please sit him down so you both can have a deep conversation about 1. Sustaining the relationship 2. The need for him to search for a job or learn a skill 3. Having a vision so as to accomplish his goals If he continues being jobless and prefer moving with friends to and fro, believe me he'll continue being stringy{not that he's stingy} but he can only give what he have. It will be impossible for a professor in Mathematics to supervise an MSc student in microbiology so just know you have a big role to play before you give up |

Health › How Greece's Crisis Is Helping It Bend The COVID-19 CURVE by Shimzyy(op): 7:57am On May 03, 2020 |
How Greece's crisis is helping it bend the COVID-19 curve As Europe remains in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic, one country is slowly winning its battle. In the story of unlikely successes, few could have guessed that Greece would emerge as an outlier. After a decade-long economic crisis, the first signs of a recovery were finally starting to emerge for Greece.
But the coronavirus pandemic swiftly brought this to an end. Greece found itself confronted with a potential public health disaster on its hands, as a highly contagious virus collided with a teetering public healthcare system picked apart by years of austerity.
The first case of coronavirus was reported on February 26. Spooked by the brutal death toll in neighboring Italy, the authorities took no chances. Within two weeks, Greece shut all educational institutions, followed by the closure of bars, restaurants, museums, retail outlets, parks, commercial beaches and gyms.
The first death was recorded on March 12. Twenty-six days after the first case was reported and with deaths totaling 15, full lockdown measures were brought into force. The government plans to gradually ease those restrictions as of May 4.
Extensive media campaigns were rolled out encouraging people to stay at home, accompanied by hefty fines for breaking the rules. Dozens of public services which traditionally involved hours of fruitless queuing were moved online practically overnight.
Competent crisis management
Since then, barring a few clusters, the Greek coronavirus curve has managed to remain relatively under control. The country hit day 50 of its outbreak on April 15 with a total of 2,192 cases and 102 deaths. By contrast, on day 50 of its outbreak which fell on March 20, Italy had recorded 41,035 cases and 3,407 deaths according to the WHO. Spain, which hit day 50 on March 20, recorded 17,147 cases and 767 deaths.
Infografik Covid-19 Fälle Griechenland EN Intensive care unit (ICU) cases, considered a good indicator of where a country stands on the curve, appear to have peaked on April 5 at 93 patients and have been gradually declining ever since. An average of three deaths per day have been recorded since the first death.
"The lockdown was imposed much earlier than in most countries in the western world," George Pagoulatos, a political economist who heads the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy, said. "The government reacted in a very competent manner, listening to the right people and making the right judgement, especially given the lack of a strong precedent but also in terms of communicating the decision and keeping people in their homes."
Greeks reacted to the lockdown with surprising compliance — a legacy of the economic crisis, Pagoulatos said.
"Greece has been in an almost non-stop crisis mode, so society was better prepared to enter a state of alert as opposed to the complacency it found itself in 2009. Very few segments of society were not affected by the crisis, so there is a collective immunity to complacency."
Family structures
The structure of society may also have a role to play. "The observance of rules is aimed primarily at helping the elderly stay alive, since most Greek families have active elderly members living close-by," Dr. Alexia Liakounakou, who teaches at University College London and wrote her PhD on contemporary Greek society, said. "The majority of the Greek population truly grasps the extent to which the country is ill-equipped to handle such a crisis if it were to get out of hand."
While the management of the crisis so far looks successful, the economic cost to Greece will be substantial. The IMF has warned that Greece could be hardest hit in the eurozone with a drop of 10% of GDP. The OECD was even more pessimistic with the impact reaching up to 35%. Unemployment , which stood at just over 16% in January, is expected to jump to 26%.
Several businesses have shut down, such as this pottery shop, and moved their enterprises online to preserve some of their revenue To recover, support will be needed from European partners, stressed Maria Demertzis, Deputy Director at the economic think-tank Bruegel, including the European Central Bank's decision to accept Greek government bonds as collateral.
"It's very good news because it allows Greece to tap into the market at reasonable prices. At least in the immediate future, the issuance of more debt is not going to be a problem. The most important thing is to contain the disease," she said.
"It is extremely bad luck for Greece to face this just as it was coming out of a 10-year downward spiral," she added. "It's important not to lose the momentum of reform, the momentum of re-establishing trust because that took a huge hit."
Post-coronavirus opportunities
As for the future, there may be opportunities hidden within the crisis. Pagoulatos said that now may be the time to diversify the core tourism industry, among others. "Greece has leapfrogged into digitalisation through this crisis, it opens an opportunity to develop sectors in technology such as cyber security and cloud computing."
Demertzis said that renewable energy and energy sustainability could be very important given Greece's enormous natural potential.
"It's a unique opportunity. It will be quite a big, long-term infrastructure investment and will serve so many different purposes," she noted.
Meanwhile, Greece's man of the hour, the softly spoken epidemiologist, Professor Sotiris Tsiordras, who heads the daily 6 p.m. coronavirus bulletin, remains cautiously optimistic but firm. In his April 23 address, as Greece approached day 60 of its pandemic, he said: "The situation remains good, but can quickly get out of hand. Let's not be complacent, let's not risk losing what we have gained. We need to further reduce the spread of the virus."

Anwons: Teaching, as a profession, ought to have been the most noble and respected in all ramifications. But what has happened? No standard is set, the union, NUT is weak and toothless in all the states especially here in Nigeria. It has turned to laissez faire affair, worst of it all is that, due to negligence by the government in different levels and outright lack of solidarity/integrity of the union leaders, the average teacher has built self low esteem thereby creating loopholes for exploitations by different categories of people including the private school owners. They are aware that if you leave, others will fill the void and these happened as a result of the professional self negligence. You have a good point School owners always treat you bad knowing that even if you leave they are others ready to replace you |

Education › Why Are Teachers Always Neglected? Please Help Me by Shimzyy(op): 5:47pm On Apr 25, 2020 |
Sometimes I wonder why teachers tasked with the role of impacting the students[leaders of tomorrow] are neglected and treated like people with no future. I still remember when I was in the higher institution studying so hard to graduate with good grade thinking that will enable me to secure a better job but to my greatest surprise immediately after my NYSC I came to realize that getting a job in Nigeria is strictly on connection and not by merit as I always thought of, to avoid boredom and being constantly broke I started teaching at a secondary school atleast to meet up with some of my demands while applying for online recruitment like NSCDC, NDLEA, INEC, IMMIGRATION before the covid-19 pandemic set in.
As the lockdown continues the Hope of we teachers in private school is lost because we're not paid during holidays, am still staying with my parents so food is not the problem as they're providing but currently am totally broke to the extent that accessing the internet have been a very difficult task for me and to be honest accessing the internet have been very helpful to me in learning and also tackling boredom.
Please I'll appreciate it if someone can help me here so I can subscribe. No amount is small
