yep, next time i'll make sure i back up my drivers first. i guess thats why they say experience is the best teacher!

my soundcard is AC '97 and thank goodness i was able to find it and download it. i've installed it and there was no conflict with Microsoft UAA bus driver.

so at last, i now have sound on my system
though one thing i observed is that in device manager, the 'Multimedia Audio Controller' disappeared and the 'PCI Simple Communications Controller' still has the yellow question mark and exclamation mark, but the sound is perfect so i don't think it matters.

since i formatted all my drivers, do i download and install the vga driver cos my lcd monitor has white shadows to the right of everything!

i pressed the auto button and its still the same. also the resolution is still 800X600.

i'm using an S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR (86c420) video adapter. the screen resolution is 800x600 pixels, color quality is Highest (32bit), the screen refresh rate is 60 Hertz and the DPI setting is Normal size (96 DPI). when i tested it in the shop, they used their system not my own system.

pls any ideas?

thanx a lot for the reply. i went thru the steps you stated and got to device manager. when i doubleclicked on the yellow question mark, the properties opened and i clicked 'Reinstall drivers' and went thru the hardware update wizard instructions but it could not install it. the error message was: 'The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software'. i don't have the drivers. do u know how i can get them?

i bought this 17" flat screen monitor: mercury 1760TWK and it was ok when i started using it. but then after 4 days, i started noticing white shadows to the right of everything on the screen. so i took it back to the shop i bought it, they tested it and it was very clear - no shadows, but when i got back home and connected it, the shadows were back! could this be some sort of electrical interference or what?
there are no speakers beside it, and it's connected to a printer and a starcomms phone. it's also not close to the wall, so i'm confused.
pls any ideas?

i formatted my system and reinstalled win xp sp2, but since then there has been no sound

when i go to Sounds and Audio Devices in control panel, under the "Volume" tab, it says "No Audio Device" and everything is grayed out.
pls what do i do? i'm really a novice here. i have a Matsonic MS9138D motherboard, but don't have the cd for drivers, i guess i have to install the sound drivers, but then again i'm confused: is there anything like motherboard drivers and are the sound and video drivers all included in it, or do i need to specifically look for sound drivers?
also, i don't know where i can download them.

yes that is where the problem lies.
it is this new type of monitor that the cable is attached to the back of the monitor, it's not the type u can easily unplug, so how do i go about it?

please i need urgent help! i want to change my monior cable but don't know how to go about it. it's losing contact and so the screen changes color from time to time. its a benq v551 monitor.

the ram was not in place, so reseating it did d magic

i think i'll save myself from the hassle and get a new motherboard.
but there's also another pc with exactly the same problem, and this one has a socket 7 cpu.
i've tried removing the processor and placing it back, in case some vibrations might have shifted it a bit,
but it's still not coming on.
it also has an integrated graphics adapter and not a video card, so that eliminates any video card problems.
pls, any suggestions?

When I put on my pc, nothing shows, just a black screen.
no beeps at all, the fan just blows and blows, and nothing happens!
i've tested the monitor with another system and it's working fine.
the system has a pentium II cpu i think (the one that stands in a slot 1 connector slot).
can anyone help?

my pc seem to be changing color. when i put it on, the screen becomes somehow blurred with reddish color sort of fading away, then after a while it stabilizes and gets its normal color. pls can anything be done to stop this? is my monitor bad or is it from the cpu??

If I am to talk 'bout beautiful actresses, then I think Stella damasus- Aboderin is one beautiful lady. She's going to be my first choice. There's some decency and credibility 'bout her. In addition to being beautiful, she's also pretty.
Omotola Jalade- Ekeinde is another one. Chioma Chukwuka is a third one.
There re a lot more beautiful actresses, but am just going to stick with these ones.
