Dis is d first time in over a year dat our players believe dat de can win d EPL title, last season ,it was only Moyes ,despite languishing in 7th position, desperately clung to d belief of winning d title In his wildest dream, not when the team is relying on luck to bail them out. @elampiro and Coogar, what are you busy arguing about? Whether Carrick came on the pitch at so so time or not OR Rooney chipped in longballs or not, it doesn't change the fact that neither are playmakers. No doubt Van Gaal is relying on Carrick to be the playmaker but the truth is Carrick is a holding midfielder masquarading as a deeplying playmakers, same as Blind. And for the record, Long passes are majorly for switching play to the wings, which is just a section of playmaking. Orchestrating is not all about pinging long ball. If it was, Charlie Adam would be the best playmaker the world has ever known. That said, what Manutd need to complete the jigsaw is a playmaker, not steel. A playmaker is what the team has ever need since Scholes retired. I still remember the 2010 CL final where our midfield of Carrick and Giggs was getting overrun by Barca's midfield but I noticed the moment Scholes came on for the last few minutes, everything changed although all hope was lost then as were already 3-1 down. Can't believe I cried that day. Anyway, Scholes' little cameo made me realise the team need a playmaker. Herrera isn't one neither Blind nor Carrick. |

Everyone and his dog knows that Oscar was totally burnt out in the 2nd half of last season as a result of playing so many games non stop. Infact, the first thing any commentator say about him whenever the camera zoom on him is to talk of how many games he has played so far. In order to manage him well, Fabregas was signed and how old is Fabregas? He's 27yrs old. That's should be roughly 3 years fabregas has at the top for Oscar to take over. After telling you this, you proceeded to bring in Eriksen into the discourse. Eriksen who's only started half of the games Oscar had played and Oscar did it within the space of 2yrs. So, how are they comparable? Also, I've said it times without no that a playmaker primary role and responsibility isn't to create chance but to orchestrate play. Please check for the definition of a playmaker - a player through which most of the offensive play goes through. Stop blabbing over a single game, wilshere also outplayed xaviesta but where is he now? As usual, Messi's fanbois are the most unrealistic people ever. The word 'playmaker' should tell you its meaning already. Playmaking isn't about creating chances. Understood? Why does every pundits often liken Xaviesta to Zidane/Scholes? Why didn't they liken Messi to such players, ignoramus? That should tell you Messi isn't one. Wilshere is not even a playmaker to begin with, he's a box to box midfielder. Infact, what Wilshere did against Barca was to dominate Xaviesta with his presence, runs and energy; he never outclassed Xaviesta as opposed to Silva who was class above every player on the pitch in that game and the playmaking skills he displayed in that game were out of this world. |

He's played in the u20 tournament, south america u20, olympic tournament and has started 93 games for Chelsea in two season + 32 games this season; and has had over 43 caps for Brazil within the space of 2 years of his emergence. Don't also forget that Chelsea signed immediately after his olympic campaign and this olympic campaign happened after he has had over 38 starts for his brasil club (internacional) that very year. Now compared to Eriksen who's only had 172 games in the space of 4 years (2010-2014), in which majority of them were in a weak dutch league. That should tell you there's no comparison. And let me ask you, if Oscar isn't a playmaker, who's brazil's playmaker? Let me also made it known to you that Oscar was a CM for his internacional team in the brasil league and it was this role he starred in that caught the attention of the Brazil national team coach (Scolari) who selected him for the Olympic, where he went on to be Brazil's best player in that tournament. It's still a surprise that such a little frail looking player had played 212 games in the space of 2 years. You got to respect him. And he's class above Mata. |

It is part of their primary role to either create an assist or create a pass that leads to an assist(purpose of those incisive/penetrative passes). If Cleverly were to be doing that, he wouldn't be on loan to Aston Villa. I disagree with that bit. Creating chance is not a playmaker primary role. |

(2)U don't know dat creativity tallies with being a playmaker ,it's like a car with wheels, it's a necessary component., u can't compare Oscar to Mata in any sense, if Oscar was so good, Mourinho wouldn't hv made Fabregas his playmaker after only one season of Oscar being his playmaker... I will honestly suggest u hit d net n find out more about playmaking
For d guys arguing about whether Rooney played in d hole during the 2011/2012 season ,d answer is YES ,he did but not d whole season, hell he even played as a DM in our match against Otelu Galati in d UCL ... During d period dat injuries ravaged our squad (like it's doing now) ,Rooney was deployed in d number 10 role until at least cleverly came back from injury... You keep forgetting that Oscar is still a young player that needs management to prevent being burnt out. This is a player who was just 22yr last year and had played over 80 games non-stop before the worldcup. Everybody could see he was getting burnt out towards the end of last season. Also, playmaker mostly comes into their own shell between the age bracket of (25-28 till their 30's). Invariably, Oscar would eventually take over from Fabregas while picking up one or two things from him. And I don't hate Mata, I'm only exposing him for the fraud he is. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Shirley07: 7:25pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
tess1: That's the creativity we are talking about. They create something special out of their passes. Every playmaker must have the quality to create chances, assist or assist before assist. That's what makes them special and different and that's the creativity. Being able to fashion out a through pass.
Cleverly makes a lot of passes. He is always one of the players with highest percentage of passes completion. What then made so many fans dislike his play was his not being creative with his passes. That was the person we were told would've taken over from Scholes. Cleverley obviously doesn't make penetrative/incisive passes, it was always sideways passes with the rare long ball. That was why fan turned on him, not because he wasn't creating chances. Obviously, playmakers has it in them to create chances but it's not their primary duty to do so and the position they operate in, doesn't allow for such as they are too deep in the central midfield. |

tess1: So his primary duty is to pass, pass and pass without being crreative? So what makes their passes different from other players` passes on the field of play? Their passes are more incisive as a result of their great intelligence and vision of play, which is fantastic. We can say Playmakers are creative players because they have to break down opposition's midfield wall and provide their attackers with the right passes to archive their aim but what I meant by that word 'creativity' is creating chances. In a better way, lets just say playmaker doesn't have to create chances before people acknowledge him as one. |

Making those rare and defence spliting passes make them creative. No one said playmakers are not creative. What I said is playmaking and creativity are two different things. Creating chances is not the primary work of a playmaker. His primary duty is to dictate the play, create space with his intelligent movement and awarenenes; attack the space with his passes and switch play with his long passes. Creating chances is just an added bonus. |

Let me also make it known to you that there are some creative playmakers out there who dictate play and at the same time, creates e.g Pirlo, Silva, Zidane in his prime, Schweinsteiger, Pjanic e.t.c. As long a playmaker does his job which is to control a game, he's a playmaker. Creativity is a just an added bonus. so rooney's 5 yard pass to di maria was more difficult than mata's pass to rooney leading to RVP's goal last night?
that was the half time report..... so oscar went on to complete 80% by full time but mata completed 91% of his passes at full time.
so we ask again - who's the better passer of the ball? When I say Playmakers makes incisive and penetrative passes, you think it's child play. Their job is to split wall of midfield into two through their passing and intelligent movement. They're also the one required to switch play with long passes. What am I saying here? I'm saying playmakers make harder and risky passes than the attackers whose job is just to see if a pass is on and then, pass to create. But if the pass isn't on, they continue their short passing game compared to the playmakers who must find way through the wall of the midfield by fire by force. And it's not possible for a player to have 45% pass success in the 1st half and then come up with 80% pass success at full. There must be a mistake somewhere. |

morgan is shyte! if he was good, he woulda followed the mass exodus of his team mates last summer. no big club came for him.

if you knew carrick was a playmaker, you wouldn't have made the other idiötic statement about what carrick was doing on the list as if i was the one that created the list. fact remains carrick was the deep-lying playmaker making the "assist of the assists" to the wingers who were supplying our strikers.
this is another big discovery that rooney wasn't in the hole in 11/12 like you have lied to us for years. the route to attack that year was carrick to the wingers --> wingers to the strikers. a deep-lying playmaker can go direct to the strikers or make assist of assists. another football education for you.

they dropped 7 points when he was in the team. what the chairman said is typical in england. some players become legends while on the bench cos everyone somehow feels if they are fit to play, they would get victories for their team.
defensively, silva is better. when it comes to the attacking side of football, mata shytes on silva over & over again. it's shouldn't even be compared.
so in your opinion, oscar is a better player than mata? Can you tell me one CL game where Mata had Silva vs barca esque performance against a top team? I bet you can't find one. To top it, Silva always make Mata his bitch everytime he encountered him against Chelsea or Manutd. That should tell you there's no comparison. Against Spur, Saints were up against their former manager who knows them in and out. All it takes is to tell one of his player to stick close to Morgan and mark him out. Against Pool, it was just badluck. The chairman comment on Morgan wasn't just a typical comment of an English man. Morgan merits that praise as his performance have been nothing short of fantastic. He's even gotten himself into the France team. Let me also made it known that the Saints refused Arsenal when they inquire about him during the window. That tells you how important he is to them. Why do you think Southampton were still able to do well after being stripped of their better players e.g Lallana, Lambert, Shaw, Chamber, Lovren e.t.c? Because Southampton didn't sell the brain of the team. I do admire these kind of players not only because of their skill set but because of their brain which are constantly working and in control. As for Oscar being better than Mata? Yes, he is. Oscar has better pace, better control of the ball in tight places, better awareness, better dribbling to open up space and above all, can orchestrate play. The only thing Mata has above him is his vision which he can only display in the final third but in the midfield, he's a lost puppy; that's if he doesn't lose the ball to begin with. how can chelsea players not recognise their playmaker when they musta drilled & simulated their coming game in training all week? the player with the most toüches is the playmaker - it's not coincidence that other players look for him for inspiration - that's the tactical approach the manager must have drilled into them. You mean half chances and chances gifted to him by our players. The truth is since Morgan's injury, they have never been the same. Even their chairman said he can sell all of their players but not Morgan because he's the most difficult player to replace. You can keep going round in circles, it won't change the cold fact that the Saints begin to drop point as soon as Morgan was out injured. For the umpeteeth time, there's no comparisom between Mata and Silva. Infact, Mata isn't fit to lace Silva's boot. Silva is a god of football on his own. What can I say about coaches, some are stupid, lacking insight and some don't even know the ability of their players nor how to utilize them to get the best out of them. Some are stubborn like Van Gaal while some only recognize big names without looking at what skill-set these players brings into the team e.g Moyes. So, tell me more |

Nihilist: He dictated nada?
So what was he doing when he was having more passes and touches of the ball than any other Chelsea player? Playing draught? Eating bole. Mata is a fraud, always taking the glory of others doing the hardwork. Thank God he's been found out. How can a player who is allergic to the midfield be a playmaker? Shior. |
